If audio slowly falls out of sync during a long XSplit Broadcaster stream, first find out whether the offset is already present or grows over time—and whether it affects every audio source or just one. Then adjust the control that matches the affected signal: global capture delay for a device used throughout XSplit, or an individual source’s Offset (ms) for one input. Check the actual recording or stream, not just the stage preview. XSplit documents these controls, but no single setting is established as a cure for every 24/7 setup.

Diagnose the kind of sync problem first

Before changing settings, compare audio and video near the start of a run with the output later on. Use a clear sync cue, such as a clap or a word with a visible mouth movement, and note the approximate offset at both points. This is a practical diagnostic test, not a protocol or result published by XSplit.

  • Fixed offset: Audio and video are out of sync from the beginning, and the gap stays roughly the same. A delay or source offset may be appropriate.
  • Growing drift: The gap becomes larger as the stream continues. A single fixed offset may improve one point but cannot by itself correct a rate mismatch that keeps accumulating. Check the device path, sample-rate compatibility, performance and version-specific behavior.
  • One input only: If the microphone, system sound and camera audio do not all show the same problem, focus on the affected source rather than adding a global delay.
  • All inputs: If multiple inputs drift together, inspect the global audio configuration and compare a local recording with the outgoing stream.

When possible, make a local recording as well as reviewing the stream. If the recording has the same drift, investigate capture and local processing. If it does not, compare the outgoing stream and its delivery path. This distinction helps narrow the cause; it does not establish one universal explanation for a 24/7 stream.

Do not confuse viewer delay with audio sync

Stream Delay postpones when viewers receive the stream; it is not the control for correcting a microphone, system-audio or camera-source offset. XSplit also notes that transport and transcoding affect the delay viewers experience, so the configured delay is not necessarily the exact end-to-end delay for every viewer. See XSplit’s Output Plugin Properties and Setting Up Stream Delay.

Output audio encoding settings such as codec, bitrate and format are also different from capture-delay and source-offset controls. Changing encoding options without evidence that the output encoding is the issue is not a substitute for diagnosing the input sync.

Check global audio settings in XSplit

Open Tools > Settings > Audio. XSplit’s Settings documentation describes this tab as the place to select captured audio devices, set capture delay and volume controls, and configure options such as audio preview.

  1. Confirm the inputs. Check that the selected System Sound and Microphone devices are the ones you intend to use. An unexpected device or connection path can make comparisons misleading.
  2. Inspect capture delay. Review the delay for the affected global device. If all audio sources are affected, this may be more relevant than a per-source adjustment. Change only a relevant setting, then compare the beginning and later part of another recording or stream.
  3. Check Audio Mixing Sample Rate. Compare the selected rate with the needs of your devices and output or recording workflow. XSplit documents this setting for matching particular output sources and for legacy devices that cannot accommodate 48 kHz. It is a compatibility option, not a documented guarantee against gradual drift.
  4. Test the result. Recheck both the initial sync and whether the gap grows. Keep a note of the previous value so you can revert if the change worsens the result.

A global delay is the wrong first move when only one source is out of sync: it can shift unaffected audio too.

Adjust only the source that is out of sync

Audio Device source

Open the affected Audio Device source’s properties and inspect Offset (ms). XSplit describes this control as correcting sync issues between camera sources and that particular audio device. Check Audio Output routing as well: the source can be set to Stream Only or System Sound. Use the Audio Device guide for the documented source options.

SABRENT USB External Stereo Sound Card Adapter, Plug & Play (AU-MMSA)
  • PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
  • WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
  • TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
  • FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
  • SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.

Use a per-source offset when the issue is confined to that input. Make a measured change and review the output again; do not assume that a fixed offset will stop a gap that continues to grow.

Camera or capture-card source

Open the Camera/Capture Card source properties and inspect its Offset (ms) setting. XSplit documents this option for correcting sync between that source’s camera video and audio. Device configuration choices depend on the device. Consult XSplit’s Camera/Capture Card documentation.

If the camera audio is the only audio that is misaligned, adjust that source rather than changing the global microphone or system-sound delay.

Check performance and the real output

During a long run, observe the outgoing recording or stream and system load. XSplit prioritizes livestreaming or recording over the stage preview, so a frame-rate dip visible only in the preview does not necessarily mean the outgoing output is impaired.

Check the release notes for your installed version

Audio-delay controls have changed across XSplit Broadcaster releases. Check the release notes that match your installed build instead of relying on an older guide’s interface description:

These are dated interface changes and a reported fix; they do not show that a particular release caused any individual user’s drift. Check the installed version and use the corresponding controls.

Troubleshooting: common symptoms and next checks

What you observe What to check next
The same offset is present from the start Identify the affected source, then inspect its Offset (ms) or the relevant global capture delay. Recheck the recorded or streamed output after a measured change.
The offset grows over time Do not rely only on a fixed offset. Compare early and late output, confirm the device and sample-rate configuration, monitor performance, and check the release notes for your build.
Only one microphone or audio input is affected Inspect that Audio Device source’s Offset (ms), routing and device path. Avoid shifting all audio globally.
Only camera audio is affected Inspect the Camera/Capture Card source’s Offset (ms) and device configuration.
The stage preview looks poor, but the recording or stream looks fine Judge the output rather than preview FPS alone; XSplit prioritizes the livestream or recording over the stage preview.
A local recording is in sync, but viewers report a different experience Separate capture sync from delivery delay. Review Stream Delay and account for transport and transcoding rather than changing an input offset based only on viewer delay.
A delay control is missing or behaves differently from a guide Check the installed build and its release notes; XSplit has documented changes to global-device delay controls.

What to send XSplit support if drift persists

If the gap continues to grow after you isolate the affected path and check the relevant settings, provide details that make the setup reproducible:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • XSplit Broadcaster build number.
  • Audio device model and connection path, such as the connection method you use.
  • Audio mode, selected sample rate, and global and source offset values.
  • Whether a local recording shows the same drift as the outgoing stream, with approximate offsets near the beginning and later in the run.
  • A log archive. XSplit’s Settings page describes system-information logging as available for troubleshooting.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the broader problem is keeping a prerecorded YouTube stream running without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not go live from a camera. That means nothing has to stay on at home, the uploaded quality streams as made up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatic recovery is available if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card (one free day per account). Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
