If a continuous ASMR stream keeps buffering on Airtel broadband, first lower the video quality in YouTube, then compare playback across devices, services, Wi-Fi locations and—if possible—Ethernet. Those checks help show where the problem follows; buffering by itself cannot tell you whether the cause is YouTube, a device, Wi-Fi, your router or ONT, congestion, or Airtel’s connection.
Start with the quickest playback check
Lower YouTube’s video quality
- Open the YouTube player’s Settings.
- Select Quality, then choose a lower resolution that is available for that stream.
- Replay the same section and see whether buffering changes.
If playback improves, the lower setting is a useful workaround, but it does not prove that your broadband line is faulty or establish a minimum speed requirement. It also reduces image detail. Airtel’s buffering guidance recommends trying a lower resolution; YouTube’s help guidance likewise includes playback quality among the checks for streaming problems.
Find out whether the problem follows YouTube, a device or your whole connection
Compare devices and services
- Play the same ASMR stream on another device connected to the same home network.
- On the affected device, try a different YouTube video and a different streaming service.
- If available, try the ASMR stream using a different internet connection.
Note what changes. A problem confined to one device points toward that device or its app; trouble with YouTube across devices differs from trouble across several services and devices. These comparisons narrow the possibilities, but do not by themselves identify a specific fault.
Check the affected device and YouTube app
Restart the device and replay the stream. On supported devices, YouTube’s help guidance also describes clearing the YouTube app cache; the exact menus vary by device and app version. If other services play normally but YouTube continues to have trouble, use YouTube’s in-app Help and feedback option to report it.

Check Wi-Fi before blaming the Airtel line
Test near the router
Move the playback device closer to the router and replay the same stream. Airtel advises placing the router centrally, in the open rather than in a corner or closed box, and at least four feet above the floor. Treat that height as Airtel’s placement advice, not a universal standard. Walls, distance, interference and the device can all affect Wi-Fi; slow Wi-Fi alone does not establish a broadband-line fault, as Ofcom’s consumer guidance explains.
Choose the Wi-Fi band based on the location
Airtel describes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi as offering longer coverage at lower speed, and 5 GHz as offering higher speed over a shorter range. If your router and device support both, try the band that gives the better connection where you watch. Device support and conditions in your home matter, so neither band is automatically best in every room.

Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet if your equipment supports it
If both the playback device and router or ONT have Ethernet ports, connect them with an RJ45 Cat5 or Cat6 cable and replay the stream. Airtel documents this type of cable for a wired connection from a computer to an ONT or router. If wired playback improves, the wireless path may be contributing; that result does not identify which wireless component is responsible or prove that Airtel’s line is healthy. A cable is an optional diagnostic aid, not a guaranteed fix.
Check the ONT and router
Inspect power, connections and indicator lights
- Confirm that the ONT and router have power and that their connections are seated.
- Look at the device lights and their labels. Labels and meanings vary by modem, so use the markings on your equipment rather than assuming every model uses the same indicators.
- If your service uses a fiber patch cord, check that it is seated and has no sharp bends. Handle it carefully; do not pull or rough-handle the fiber cable.
Restart the ONT/router safely
- Disconnect power from the ONT and router.
- Wait 15–20 seconds, then reconnect power.
- Allow the connection to return. Airtel advises waiting at least 60 seconds before turning the computer back on.
- Once the connection is back, replay the stream and compare the result with your earlier checks.
Try Airtel’s Wi-Fi optimization option
Airtel’s troubleshooting instructions give this path in the Airtel Thanks app: Broadband → My Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi → Optimize Wi-Fi. App labels can change, so the path may differ in a later version.

Decide who to contact based on what you observed
- Only one device has trouble: focus on that device’s network connection and YouTube app; restart it and use YouTube’s supported cache-clearing guidance if applicable.
- YouTube has trouble on multiple devices, but other services work: report the YouTube-specific playback issue through YouTube’s in-app Help and feedback option.
- Several devices and services have trouble, including on a wired connection where available: after checking local connections and restarting the equipment, contact Airtel. Airtel can assess whether the issue is provider-side or equipment-related.
When you contact support, describe what you tested: the devices and services affected, whether playback improved near the router or over Ethernet, and whether lowering quality changed the symptom. Buffering alone is not enough to justify assuming that you need a faster plan or replacement router. YouTube also notes that congestion and other factors can affect live programming; its help page says, “The lower the broadcast delay, the less buffer the video player will have.” That is general context, not evidence that this ASMR stream uses a particular delay setting.
