You don’t need to redeem a code or press a Claim button to get The Sims 4’s free elder-themed items. They arrived in the October 27, 2026 base-game update: update your game, then look in Create a Sim (CAS) and Build Mode. You can also add a ready-styled household of four elders from the Gallery. EA’s patch notes describe the additions as part of the update, not a separate purchase.
The update adds different kinds of content, so it helps to know where each belongs: CAS has hairstyles, clothing, recolors and Styled Looks; Build Mode has furnishings and a Styled Room; and the Gallery household is an optional way to bring in four premade Sims. The items are free base-game additions, not a limited-time event reward.
How do I get the free elder items in The Sims 4?
Install the October 27, 2026 game update on the platform where you play. Then open CAS for the new hairstyles, clothing and Styled Looks, or Build Mode for the furniture, decor and Styled Room. The Gallery household is optional; you don’t need to download it to access the catalog items.

EA’s release notes identify this release as PC 1.129.39.1030, Mac 1.129.39.1230 and console 2.40. These are the version numbers for the October 27 release, not a claim that they are the newest versions now. See the official update notes.
- Open CAS to browse the new hairstyles, clothing items, recolors and Elder Styled Looks. The two hairstyles are specifically identified for Adults and Elders. EA does not state the age availability of every clothing item, so check the age options in your game for those pieces.
- Open Build Mode to browse or place the new objects, or use the Styled Room for a prearranged space. The precise item names below can help you distinguish the individual objects, including three drapery options that count as separate entries.
- Optional: visit the Gallery if you want to add the new household of four elders to your game. It is a ready-made character option, not a prerequisite for the CAS or Build Mode content.
There is no separate redemption step for these additions. EA’s Events Screen and its Claim process apply to a different, time-limited rewards system; they are not how this base-game update distributes its items. Don’t confuse the existence of an Event Rewards filter with a requirement to find these patch items there. For this release, updating the game is the relevant step.
What new items are in Create a Sim?
EA’s October 27 patch notes list two hairstyles, four new clothing assets, five recolors and four Elder Styled Looks. The hairstyles are identified for Adults and Elders; the announcement does not establish age availability for every clothing item. The counts are useful when you want to check the overall categories, but they do not mean that each item has only one color option.

The two hairstyles are the named hair additions: Quiff Side Part and Half-Down Waves. EA specifically says they are options for Adults and Elders. That is the confirmed age information for the hair; it should not be broadened into a promise about every clothing item or every age group.

The names give you a practical way to identify the kinds of pieces in the release: a layered top, a long dress, a sleeveless blouse and a skirt. The list is a catalog inventory, not evidence that the pieces are exclusive to an Elder Sim. If you are making a Sim of another age, use the in-game age options to see what is selectable rather than assuming eligibility from the elder theme.
EA separately lists five recolors: High Waisted Jacket, Long Blazer, Granny Dress, Open Cardigan, and Loose Pants with Crease. A recolor is distinct from one of the four new clothing assets in EA’s count. The number five refers to the named recolor entries, not the number of color swatches available across the whole clothing catalog. EA’s announcements do not give a technical explanation of meshes or a total swatch count, so it is best to use the categories as published instead of treating every color variation as a separate new design.
There are also four Elder Styled Looks. These are useful if you want a coordinated outfit without assembling every clothing choice individually. The individual pieces and the complete looks serve different purposes: browsing the clothing entries lets you choose pieces, while a Styled Look offers a ready-styled option. You can use whichever approach suits the Sim you are creating; the update does not require you to use a Styled Look to access the garments.

For exact catalog names, use EA’s detailed patch-note list. A shorter feature announcement describes some clothing differently—for example, it calls the new shirt a Sweater and uses a different description for a jacket recolor. When you are looking for a specific catalog entry, rely on the detailed patch-note names above rather than combining the different descriptions into extra items. They refer to the same update coverage, not a reason to add unlisted clothing to the inventory.
What is included in Build Mode?
The update adds 11 named Build Mode objects and one Styled Room, according to EA. The three Heritage Home Drapery entries are separate objects, each with a different width. The room is an additional prearranged option, not a twelfth named object in the list of 11.

These additions cover several parts of a furnished space: seating, lighting, window dressing, wall decor, flooring decor, wallpaper and a double bed. The names also make clear why the drapery count can be easy to misread. Heritage Home Drapery, Heritage Home Drapery – Wide, and Heritage Home Drapery – Extra Wide are three distinct list entries; they are not one item counted three ways. If you are comparing the release inventory with EA’s total of 11 objects, count all three widths separately.
The two lighting entries have different forms: Light of Yesteryear is a sconce, while The Glowlden Goose is a table light. The table light has the duck-themed design mentioned in EA’s feature announcement. The furniture list also includes two different seating pieces, The Needlepoint Nook Chair (an armchair) and The Floral Fossil (a sofa), as well as The Early Bird Bed, which is a double bed. Who is in the new Gallery household?
EA lists four elder Sims in a new Gallery household: Raven Ballard, Elena Marquez, Daniel Kwon and Malik Nasir. The household is a shortcut if you want ready-styled characters rather than creating them yourself; it is not required to obtain the CAS or Build Mode additions. EA’s elder-looks announcement introduces the Sims and their styled looks.
Think of the Gallery household as a separate way to use the release, not as a package you must download to unlock the catalog. If your goal is to make your own elder, go to CAS. If you want the furniture or Styled Room, go to Build Mode. If you want a household already featuring four named elders, look for the Gallery entry. What should I check if an item is missing?

Why isn’t there a Claim button for these items?
Because these are update additions, not rewards distributed through the Events Screen. EA’s separate event instructions use a Claim action for event rewards, while the October 27 patch notes say to update the game to discover these items. For this release, go to the game’s catalogs after updating rather than searching for an event claim or redemption code.
The distinction matters because both systems can involve free content, but they do not use the same delivery method. EA’s Event Rewards instructions describe participants claiming rewards from the Events Screen and filtering rewards under Special → Event Rewards. Those steps belong to event rewards; they are not steps EA gives for this patch. Do not assume every free Sims item uses an identical process.
