The PIN is set on your Samsung TV, not stored in its small remote. If you have never changed it, try 0000. If you forgot a PIN you set yourself, use the reset sequence for your TV’s model and remote; Samsung’s instructions vary by region and remote type.
What the Samsung TV PIN is—and what it is not
A Samsung TV PIN is a four-digit security code for protected TV functions. It is separate from the remote: the remote’s buttons let you enter or reset the TV’s PIN, but the remote does not contain the code. A prompt from an app or a connected set-top box may instead be asking for that service or device’s own parental-control PIN.
Try the default PIN first
If you have not changed the TV’s PIN, enter 0000. Samsung identifies this as the default PIN and as the PIN used after the reset procedures below. Samsung US documents the default and reset procedure for 2025 TVs, while Samsung UK gives remote-specific reset instructions.
Reset a forgotten PIN with the remote
Turn the TV on, then follow the instructions that match your region, model guidance and remote. These sequences are not interchangeable guarantees for every Samsung TV; if they do not work, check the exact model’s user manual or contact Samsung support.

Samsung US guidance for 2025 TVs
- Turn on the TV.
- On the remote, press: Volume +/- > Volume Up > Return > Volume Down > Return > Volume Up > Return.
- When prompted, enter 0000.
Samsung says this sequence resets the PIN to 0000. It is specifically the US support procedure for 2025 TVs, not a universal sequence for every model or region.
Samsung UK Smart Remote guidance
- Turn on the TV.
- Press Volume, then +, Return, –, Return, +, Return.
- Enter 0000 when prompted.
Samsung UK standard remote guidance
- Turn on the TV.
- Press Mute, then +, Return, –, Return, +, Return.
- Enter 0000 when prompted.
Samsung UK says both of its remote-specific sequences reset the PIN to 0000. Its instructions and the US 2025 sequence differ, so use the one that applies to your TV rather than combining the button presses.

Change the PIN after regaining access
For the 2025 US models covered by Samsung’s instructions, open Home > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Change PIN. Enter the current PIN, then enter the new PIN twice. This menu path is model- and software-dependent; Samsung notes that menus can vary.

If the sequence or remote does not work
- Check which device is asking for a PIN. A prompt inside an app or from a connected box may use a separate code. Contact that app’s provider or device manufacturer for its parental-control PIN.
- Confirm the remote is paired. If the TV does not respond or show number entry, Samsung UK says to hold Return and Play/Pause together for at least three seconds, until a connection message appears.
- Check the model-specific instructions. Button labels, menus and reset steps can vary with remote type, TV model, software and region. Use the manual for the exact model if the documented sequence fails.
- Do not use a factory reset as an equivalent PIN shortcut. Samsung warns that a factory reset removes Samsung accounts and downloaded apps, so it has broader consequences than resetting the PIN.
