Find shoe sweepstakes through a shoe brand’s or retailer’s official website or verified social account, then read the rules for that exact promotion before entering. Confirm the sponsor, dates, eligibility, entry method, prize, and winner-notification process. If a message asks you to pay to claim a prize or provide bank or credit-card details, treat it as a scam warning and verify the promotion with the company using contact information you find independently.
Where to find legitimate shoe sweepstakes
Start at the brand’s or retailer’s official website, or at a social account you can confirm belongs to that company. Follow links from those channels to the promotion’s own official rules. A familiar logo or brand name in a post or direct message is not proof that the promotion is genuine: scammers can impersonate recognizable organizations. The FTC advises slowing down and checking social-media giveaways through the company’s official channels: FTC guidance on social-media giveaway scams.
Search for terms such as “shoe sweepstakes,” “sneaker giveaway,” “official rules,” or “no purchase necessary,” but use them to locate a promotion—not to establish that it is real. The sponsor’s own rules are the source for what that particular promotion offers and requires.
What to check in the official rules
Before entering, check these details in the rules for the specific promotion:

- Sponsor: Identify the organization responsible for the promotion. Make sure it matches the official website or account where you found it.
- Dates and time zone: Note when entry opens and closes, including the time zone if stated. Do not assume an old rules page means a promotion is still open.
- Eligibility: Check location, age, membership, and any other conditions. Requirements differ by promotion: for example, Foot Locker’s help page describes contiguous-48-state eligibility and FLX membership, while ASICS’ survey sweepstakes rules set their own U.S. residency and age conditions. - Entry method and limits: Find out whether entry requires a form, account, store visit, or another action, and whether entries are limited. “No purchase necessary” does not mean every person or entry method is eligible.
- Prize: Read the exact description. A sneaker launch drawing may award the right to purchase a shoe rather than a free pair. Foot Locker’s cited sneaker launch rules describe a drawing for purchase access and require a selected entrant to appear at the store with matching photo ID.
- Selection and odds: Check how a winner or potential winner is selected and whether the rules provide odds language. Any odds apply to that promotion; they are not a general estimate of your chances in shoe giveaways.
- Notification and verification: Look for how potential winners will be contacted, how long they have to respond, and what identity or eligibility checks are required. Follow only the process in the promotion’s rules.
How to tell whether the prize is free or a chance to buy
Do not assume a sneaker drawing gives away a free pair. Some launch promotions select people who may buy a limited-release shoe. In the Foot Locker example, the prize is the right to purchase at launch, and the selected entrant must attend the specified store with photo ID that matches the entry. That is materially different from winning shoes at no cost. Read the prize description and any attendance, size-selection, or identification requirements before entering.
Rules are promotion-specific. Foot Locker’s launch terms are not a template for every retailer or giveaway. Other brands publish their own conditions, such as adidas’ adiClub Sweepstakes Terms and Conditions and Reebok’s AR1 Signed Red Sweepstakes Terms & Conditions. Check the source pages for current availability; the existence of rules does not establish that a promotion is still accepting entries.

How to verify a message saying you won
- Do not rely on links, phone numbers, or instructions in an unexpected prize message.
- Find the company’s contact details independently by going to its official website or another official channel.
- Ask the company whether the promotion and notification are genuine, and compare the message with the official rules’ notification and verification process.
- Do not send money or sensitive financial information to claim the prize.
- If you suspect fraud, report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Warning signs of a shoe giveaway scam
The FTC identifies requests for a fee to receive a prize, payment to improve your odds, and requests for bank or credit-card information as warning signs. Its advice is direct: “But no real sweepstakes company will contact you asking for money to claim a prize.” Read the FTC’s guidance on fake prize, sweepstakes, and lottery scams. If a message claims to come from a real brand, verify it through contact details you locate yourself rather than responding through the message.

If you are considering more than one shoe sweepstakes, compare each promotion on the same terms. This makes it easier to spot meaningful differences, such as a purchase-access drawing versus a free pair or a membership requirement that limits eligibility.

For example, ASICS’ Everyday Wearer Survey Sweepstakes rules describe a promotion dated around November 1, 2025. They show the kind of promotion-specific terms to look for, but do not establish that the sweepstakes is currently open. Check the promotion’s own page and dates rather than relying on an older listing.
