To find a legitimate game discount, start with the official store’s wishlist or sale page, compare the exact same edition and platform elsewhere, verify the seller and redemption region, and read the refund terms before you pay. A large discount percentage alone cannot tell you whether an offer is compatible, complete, or safe to buy.
Start with the official store and a wishlist
Wishlisting a game on the platform where you intend to play it is a simple way to catch a genuine sale. Steam says its Wishlist can notify you when a wishlisted game goes on sale; see Steam’s sales and purchasing FAQ. Enable notifications if available, and check the platform’s own sale pages when you are ready to buy.
Nintendo Support says digital software discounts and sales are often available through Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Store. Its US support page also says there are currently no discount codes for purchases on Nintendo Store; that statement is specific to that page and should not be generalized to other retailers, regions, or future offers. See Nintendo’s discounts and coupons guidance.
Compare offers that are actually equivalent
Before comparing prices, confirm that each listing is for the same thing. A lower headline price can be misleading if it is for a different platform, region, edition, or purchase type. Check these details on the listing:

- Platform or launcher: Confirm whether the game runs on Steam, another PC launcher, Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo hardware. A code for one platform is not interchangeable with another.
- Region: Check that the code or copy can be redeemed with your account’s region. Do not assume a listing works worldwide.
- Edition and content: Compare the same edition, including any bundled expansions, DLC, or other included content.
- Purchase type: Distinguish a direct purchase from a store from a code sold for later redemption. Check where and how a code is redeemed.
- Effective total: Account for tax and any subscription required to access or use the offer. Compare the total you will pay, not just the displayed discount.
- Seller and recourse: Identify who is taking payment, how to contact support, and what return or refund route applies.
Steam’s sales FAQ says it cannot apply a discount to a purchase made before or after the sale period. It also says coupons or loyalty discounts generally do not stack unless stated otherwise. For an eligible purchase whose price drops, Steam says you may request a refund and repurchase at the sale price; check the eligibility rules before relying on that option in Steam’s FAQ.
Use a price tracker as a comparison aid
A price-comparison service can help you spot offers without checking every store manually. IsThereAnyDeal publishes an official FAQ and is one option to investigate for PC game price comparisons. Treat tracker results as leads, not proof that a seller or offer is legitimate: open the listing and verify its store, product, region, edition, and terms yourself.

Do not assume a tracker covers every retailer, console, or type of code. Its exact current store list and console coverage are not established here, so check its live information and the seller’s own listing rather than relying on an assumed coverage range. Price alerts are useful for noticing changes, but a predicted sale date or expected low price is not a guarantee; make the decision from current listings.
Validate the seller and the redemption path
Prefer the official storefront or a retailer whose identity, support contact, and return terms you can verify. For PlayStation products in the United States, PlayStation’s buying guide advises purchasing new products from authorized retailers, citing authenticity, functionality, return policy, and warranty coverage. That general buying guidance is not a complete directory of authorized digital game-code sellers; see PlayStation’s US buying guide.

For a code, check the exact platform or launcher, redemption instructions, and region restrictions before checkout. If the listing does not make clear what you receive or where it works, do not treat a low price as a reason to guess. Save the listing and receipt so you can refer to the seller’s terms if a code fails or the product differs from its description.

Steam
Steam’s general rule is that refund requests should be made within 14 days of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime. Steam says it may still review requests outside those conditions. See Steam’s Common Refund Questions for the current terms.
PlayStation Store in the United States
For games and add-ons, the US policy generally allows cancellation within 14 days of purchase if downloading or streaming has not started. Once either has started, games and add-ons are generally ineligible unless faulty. The policy notes that local law may provide additional rights and explains how to check transaction history and request an eligible refund: PlayStation Store cancellation policy.

A practical checkout sequence
- Wishlist the game on the official platform where you plan to play, and enable sale notifications if available.
- Compare current listings using the official store and, for PC comparisons, a service such as IsThereAnyDeal. Open the seller listing rather than relying only on a tracker’s result.
- Match the product by platform, region, edition, included content, and whether it is a direct purchase or a redeemable code.
- Calculate the real total, including tax and any required subscription, then compare that figure rather than discount percentages.
- Verify the seller and terms: confirm the seller’s identity, support route, return policy, and the store’s applicable refund rules.
- For digital console purchases, check policy first and avoid starting a download or stream until you are sure you want to keep the purchase.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
