Find crafting materials in ARC Raiders by looting containers and loose objects Topside, searching destroyed ARC units, opening hidden caches, contesting supply meteors, recycling unwanted gear, buying listed items from traders, and completing quests. The fastest way to target a missing component is to open Inventory → Crafting, select its recipe, and use Acquire Resources; the game shows currently available ways to obtain what you lack, including recycling and purchases from Celeste.
Materials are not equally useful on every run. Keep quest items, workshop requirements, rare schematics and materials for your active recipe, then extract before your backpack and risk turn a productive raid into a loss.
How crafting materials work in ARC Raiders
Crafting happens in the field rather than only at a base. Embark Games’ official field-crafting help describes it this way: “Field crafting lets you combine resources you collect Topside to create improvised items on the go.” In practice, you gather components during a raid, open your inventory, and craft any recipe for which you have the required ingredients.
Materials generally fall into three useful groups:
- Base materials: common scrap, wires and basic components used by everyday recipes and upgrades.
- Advanced materials: powercells and rarer components that are harder to replace and often tied to higher-tier crafting.
- Special materials: cores, schematics and other unique items that can unlock progression or have unusually high value.
Those categories are a practical organizing system from community documentation, not an official guarantee of a particular item’s rarity or spawn rate. Loot tables, recipes, stash limits and interface behavior can change with patches, so verify the current requirement in your own Crafting screen.

Use Acquire Resources before you choose a farming route
The most reliable targeting tool is built into the crafting interface. Embark’s ARC Raiders UI/UX team says the game introduced “a streamlined way to acquire missing materials directly from the crafting screen.” That feature prevents a common mistake: crossing the map for a component that could have been recycled or purchased immediately.
- Open Inventory.
- Select Crafting.
- Choose the recipe you want to make or the workshop requirement you are trying to satisfy.
- Identify the missing component in the recipe list.
- Select Acquire Resources.
- Review the sources the game lists for the current build. Depending on the item, the list can include recycling, buying from Celeste, or other available acquisition methods.
- Use the least dangerous practical option first. If the list points to a specific loot activity, plan the run around that activity rather than searching randomly.
The Crafting screen also filters recipes by materials you currently hold, making it useful for deciding what can be made before you leave. Do not assume a source shown in an older guide is still active; the in-game list is the current authority for your installed version.
Where to search Topside
Containers and loose objects
Start with ordinary loot. Search containers and pick up loose objects throughout each map instead of relying only on named events. Cabinets, boxes, shelves, work areas and scattered components can supply the base materials needed for field items and upgrades. A route with many containers can outperform a dangerous high-tier event when your goal is a common component.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSearch systematically: clear one building or room completely, check adjacent storage areas, then move toward extraction. This keeps you from overlooking small loose pickups while also limiting the time you spend exposed. When backpack space becomes tight, compare each item with your active quest, workshop and recipe requirements before discarding it.
ARC machine remains
Destroyed ARC units leave remains that can be looted. Community documentation describes a useful risk-and-reward pattern:
| Remain type | Typical material value described by the guide | How to use the information |
|---|---|---|
| Standard ARC units | Common materials | Good for routine components when you want a lower-risk supplement to building searches. |
| Elite ARC units | Rare materials | Consider when an advanced component justifies additional combat and exposure. |
| Bosses | Epic or unique materials | Attempt when your squad, equipment and extraction plan can absorb the higher danger. |
These are guide-level tendencies, not official drop-rate guarantees. A particular unit is not a promise of a particular component, and a patch can change the distribution. Loot the remains only after checking the surrounding threat and your route to extraction.

Supply meteors
Supply meteor events can contain rare or epic materials, weapon schematics and ARC Powercells. Their value comes with two predictable costs: other players can see the opportunity, and ARC threats may converge on the event. Treat a meteor as a deliberate high-risk stop, not a default opening move.

Before approaching, decide where you will leave if another squad arrives. Take the items that support your active objective first, secure a schematic or powercell when it is the reason for the detour, and avoid lingering to fill every slot. The event is only profitable if you survive the trip back to extraction.
Hidden caches
Less-traveled locations can contain hidden caches. Check abandoned buildings, underground bunkers, ARC facility ruins, caves and other areas away from the obvious traffic lanes. Some caches require a key or hacking, so include the necessary access item in your loadout only when the expected reward justifies the space and risk.
Hidden-cache routes are useful when public areas are crowded, but they are not guaranteed substitutes for a named material zone. Combine them with the Acquire Resources list and your current objectives instead of assuming every cache contains a rare component.
Best places to find laboratory reagents
Laboratory reagents are a special case because medical-area density matters more than simply visiting a map with many buildings. PC Gamer identified the Hospital in Buried City as “the best place to find laboratory reagents” and described it, at the time of publication, as the only location classified solely as Medical. Search the hospital’s cabinets and boxes, then check loose reagents on countertops and chemical stands.

- Research near the Hospital in Buried City.
- The pharmacies at Plaza Rosa and Piazza Arbusto.
- The Testing Annex in Dam Battlegrounds.
- The Medical Research area in Stella Montis.
Use the Hospital as a focused reagent run only if the current Acquire Resources panel still points there or your route can support the danger. The medical classification and loot distribution can change, so regard PC Gamer’s description as a dated guide to prioritization rather than a permanent spawn guarantee.
How to get blueprints and add their recipes
Blueprints are most reliably found in locked-room containers. They can also appear as quest rewards, so a quest route may advance your workshop while supplying a schematic. A blueprint is not useful until you extract it and learn it at Speranza.
- Search locked rooms and complete quests that list a blueprint or schematic reward.
- When you find a valuable blueprint, place it in the Safe Pocket when that option is available. This protects it from the consequences of a failed extraction.
- Extract from the raid with the blueprint.
- Return to Speranza.
- Open the relevant workshop station and choose Learn and Consume.
- Confirm the action. The blueprint is consumed and its recipe is added to that station.
Do not leave a blueprint in your normal backpack when you can secure it. A successful find that is lost before extraction does not advance your workshop.

Recycle, buy or sell? Make the decision at the item level
Recycle when the conversion solves an active requirement
Field Recycling lets you break down an item instantly: select the item and choose Recycle. Use it when the resulting materials are required for a recipe, workshop upgrade or quest and the item has no more important use. Recycling is especially efficient when Acquire Resources lists it as a source for the component you are missing.
Check the conversion before confirming. An item that looks disposable may itself be a quest objective, workshop input or high-value sellable. Recycling should solve a known shortage, not simply empty the backpack.
Buy from a trader when the listed cost is safer than a detour
If Acquire Resources lists buying from Celeste, compare that option with the danger and travel time of a dedicated loot run. A purchase can be the sensible choice for a small deficit, particularly when a meteor or elite encounter would expose a full loadout for one component. The screen’s current list and price are more reliable than a static route recommendation.

Sell only genuine surplus
Sell an item to traders only after checking active quests, workshop requirements, blueprint needs and the material it would yield through recycling. Community guidance recommends prioritizing, in order of practical importance, quest items, workshop materials, high-value sellables and rare schematics when backpack space is limited. Anything outside those priorities can be evaluated for immediate value, but do not assume a common-looking object is safe to sell if an upcoming requirement needs it.
Manage space around the game’s large material burden
Keeping every component is impossible. PC Gamer’s 2025 tally lists 1,195 materials across 62 unique items needed for quests, Scrappy, workshop upgrades and the Expedition Project. The same 2025 guide reports a 280-item maximum stash. These figures explain why extraction discipline and filtering matter more than collecting indiscriminately.
Before deploying, identify one primary objective and one acceptable secondary objective. For example, a reagent run can also collect base components from the same buildings, while a blueprint hunt can take a meteor only if the detour does not jeopardize the schematic. Leave room for the target material instead of filling every slot with low-priority loot.
- Keep: items named by an active quest, the materials shown in a planned recipe, workshop upgrade inputs, rare schematics and items with strong sell value.
- Recycle: unwanted gear when its output appears in Acquire Resources for your current recipe.
- Sell: confirmed surplus after the checks above.
- Extract: as soon as the objective is complete and the risk of another fight outweighs the value of additional slots.
Choose a route with five questions
A good farming route is not simply the place with the rarest possible drop. Compare each candidate against the same five factors:
- Material category or loot weighting: Does the area match the component type you need, such as Medical for reagents?
- Container density: How many searchable cabinets, boxes, rooms or loose-pickup points can you clear before moving?
- ARC and PvP danger: Are you prepared for the enemies and player traffic associated with the reward?
- Distance to extraction: Can you leave with the material before a long return route turns the run into a loss?
- Objective overlap: Does the route also advance a quest, blueprint hunt or workshop upgrade?
| Run goal | Route emphasis | Risk decision |
|---|---|---|
| Common base components | Dense buildings, containers and loose items | Favor repeatable searches over high-threat events. |
| Rare components | Elite ARC remains or other locations listed by Acquire Resources | Take the fight only when the component is worth the combat and extraction risk. |
| Epic or unique materials | Boss remains or supply meteors | Plan an exit before engaging; expect ARC and player competition. |
| Laboratory reagents | Hospital in Buried City, then other reported medical and research areas | Prioritize medical rooms and leave once the reagent requirement is met. |
| Blueprints | Locked-room containers and quest routes | Protect the schematic in the Safe Pocket when possible and extract immediately after finding it. |
This framework lets you compare a safe, objective-aligned route with a lucrative but exposed event without pretending that one map is always best.

- Set the objective in Speranza. Note the exact recipe, quest or workshop upgrade and the number of units still required.
- Check Inventory → Crafting. Open the recipe and inspect missing components rather than relying on memory.
- Open Acquire Resources. Record whether recycling, Celeste, a material category or a named activity is available.
- Choose one primary zone. For reagents, begin with the Hospital in Buried City when the current build and your route support it; for a schematic, choose locked rooms or a quest with a blueprint reward.
- Pack for access and survival. Bring a key or hacking capability only when the cache or locked room is central to the objective, and leave enough capacity for the target material.
- Search in a fixed pattern. Clear containers, cabinets and loose items room by room, then inspect ARC remains or an event only if the risk fits the objective.
- Sort during the run. Keep quest items, active recipe inputs, workshop materials, rare schematics and valuable sellables. Recycle or discard lower-priority items when the target is secured.
- Extract early. Do not extend a successful run merely to fill the last slots; distance, ARC threats and PvP can erase the value already collected.
- Process at Speranza. Deposit useful materials, sell confirmed surplus, and use Learn and Consume on any extracted blueprint.
Common mistakes and how to correct them
Following an old guaranteed-spawn claim
No authoritative complete table of drop rates or guaranteed spawn points for every material and map is established. Community descriptions of ARC remains and medical zones are useful for prioritization, but they are not guarantees. Correct this by checking Acquire Resources in the current build and treating every route as a probability-and-risk decision.

Going straight to a meteor for an ordinary component
Meteors are attractive because they can contain rare or epic materials, weapon schematics and ARC Powercells, but they also draw competition and ARC threats. If your recipe needs a common wire or basic component, search containers first and reserve the meteor for a target that justifies the exposure.
Recycling a quest or workshop item
Instant recycling is convenient, but the conversion can destroy an item you still need in its original form. Check active quests, Scrappy requirements, workshop upgrades and blueprint plans before selecting Recycle.
Leaving a blueprint unprotected
A blueprint in a normal backpack can be lost before extraction. Use the Safe Pocket when possible, then return to Speranza and complete Learn and Consume at the correct station.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Staying after the objective is complete
The 280-item maximum stash reported by PC Gamer in 2025 is a reminder that storage is finite, while every extra minute Topside adds danger. Once the required materials are secured, extraction is usually worth more than marginal low-priority loot.
What can change between patches
Recipes, loot categories, stash capacity and UI behavior can all change. The medical classification of a location, the contents of a meteor or the material returned by recycling may differ from older guides. Use published route advice as a starting point, then confirm the item’s current sources in Inventory → Crafting → Acquire Resources before committing to a special farming trip.
The durable strategy is therefore simple: identify the exact shortage, let the game show current acquisition options, choose a route whose reward matches its danger, protect blueprints, and extract before the value of what you carry is outweighed by the risk of losing it.
