Use music you created and control, music in the public domain, or music covered by a license that explicitly allows your exact livestream use. Before a long yoga relaxation stream, check that the rights cover the platform, continuous looping, monetization, territories, and any replay, archive, or clips. “Free” music, artist credit, and a standard music-streaming subscription are not proof of those rights.

What “copyright-safe” means for a live stream

YouTube defines safe music as music in the public domain or music you have permission to use from the copyright owner. A free label or a credit in your description does not by itself prevent a Content ID restriction. YouTube’s copyright guidance explains this distinction.

Permission must fit the use, not just the track. A continuous yoga stream may involve repeated playback for hours, a live broadcast, monetization, and a saved replay. The rights may also be layered: the composition and the specific recording can have different owners. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator to have the rights needed for live content and archived content.

Choose music using this rights checklist

  1. Define the broadcast. Note the platform, whether the stream will be monetized or sponsored, whether it will be archived or clipped, whether viewers can replay it, and where it will be available. Ask whether the license covers looping or repeated use for the full duration.
  2. Confirm who controls the music. For original music, make sure you control both the composition and recording, and have permission for any samples, performers, or collaborators. For other music, identify the rights owner and read the license terms rather than relying on a description such as “royalty-free.”
  3. Match the license to each use. Verify that it covers the intended platform and account, live streaming, continuous use, relevant territories, monetization or commercial activity, and any VOD, archive, highlight, or clip. Check attribution rules and restrictions, too.
  4. Save proof. Keep the license text, track title and artist, acquisition date, the account or channel it covers, and required attribution. Terms can change, so retain the version that applied when you selected the music.

There is no single license established here as covering every platform, country, and replay format. If a commercial stream will be available across territories, use terms that expressly cover that reach and seek jurisdiction-specific legal advice where needed. U.S. law and UK public-music guidance are not worldwide permissions.

YouTube Audio Library

YouTube says Audio Library tracks are copyright-safe on YouTube. Attribution requirements vary: some Creative Commons tracks require credit, while standard library tracks can be filtered for no attribution. Check the terms shown for the specific track and save them with your production records. YouTube cautions that it cannot guarantee rights for music from other libraries or advise about using Audio Library tracks off YouTube. See YouTube Audio Library guidance.

Creator Music is not a live-stream license

Do not assume a Creator Music track is cleared for a live relaxation stream. YouTube says Creator Music does not support licensing for live content; its licensed and revenue-share tracks are for eligible long-form videos, not livestreams or Shorts. Review Creator Music’s current guidance before choosing music for a different format.

Using an external music library

Twitch’s music options page names services including Soundstripe, Monstercat Gold, Chillhop, and NCS. Treat that list as a starting point for investigation, not as blanket approval of a provider, plan, track, or yoga-stream use. Verify current terms directly with the service before subscribing or broadcasting.

  • Does the license explicitly allow livestreaming and continuous looping?
  • Does it cover the platform and the specific channel or account?
  • Which territories are covered, and are there limits on monetization, sponsorships, or other commercial use?
  • Are VODs, archived streams, highlights, and clips included?
  • Are attribution, track-selection, or other restrictions imposed?
  • How should you document the license and respond if an automated claim or takedown occurs?
  • Do the available tracks suit a calm yoga practice, and what are the price and renewal conditions?

Twitch warns that a license may not cover the way music is used and that a performance-rights agreement may not cover global Twitch streaming. Buying a song or subscribing to an ordinary listening service does not, by itself, authorize sharing that music on Twitch. The same practical caution applies when assessing whether a consumer music plan grants livestream rights: read the terms for the intended platform and use.

What to do if a music claim appears

A Content ID claim or platform notification is not, by itself, proof that you had permission or proof that you lacked it. Review the notice, then compare the claim with the license scope and evidence you saved. Twitch acknowledges that some notifications can be inaccurate while still advising streamers to check their licenses.

  • Confirm the track, claimant, and affected content in the platform notice.
  • Check whether the license covers that account, platform, territory, live use, and replay or clip at issue.
  • Follow the platform’s current dispute or appeal process only if your documentation supports the use; do not assume attribution alone resolves a claim.
  • If the license does not clearly cover the use, stop using the track and replace it with music you control or music with suitable written permission.

Keep the stream running without confusing hosting and music rights

For a YouTube relaxation stream, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping uploaded videos live 24/7: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It handles playback from the cloud; it does not grant music rights, so use only music cleared for your stream and any replay. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only. Details are at StreamNeo.

Or let it run in the cloud

Upload your video, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing needs to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. This changes how the video is hosted, not what music you have permission to use. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
