Both Beorcan’s Twinned Keys are hidden in separate underground chests close to the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door at Beorcan Stronghold. One hatch is frozen into church-like ruins beside the path; the other is behind a nearby ruin and leads through an underground hallway to a mushroom-covered ladder. Frozen Beorcan figures point toward both entrances.

What the two-key puzzle involves

The door at Beorcan Stronghold is not opened by finding one chest and returning to it. Each key is in a different underground room, and each room is entered through a hatch marked by a frozen Beorcan. Both entrances are close to the locked door, so you should use the door as your starting reference rather than searching the entire stronghold.

The routes are deliberately different. The first key uses a short detour to church- or chapel-like ruins, an ice-covered hatch and a brief ladder descent. The second begins at a small ruin with a door locked from the far side; circling behind it reveals another hatch, followed by a hallway with an enemy and a ladder covered in mushrooms.

Route comparison

Key Starting reference Entrance landmark Hazards and traversal Where the chest is
First key Locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door Church- or chapel-like ruins at the right-hand bend, on the left side of the path Break the frozen hatch and descend a short ladder In the small underground room beneath the hatch
Second key Locked door and nearby small ruin Hatch beside a small wall behind the ruin Underground hallway with an enemy; climb a mushroom-covered ladder In the room behind the ruin’s locked door

How to get the first Beorcan’s Twinned Key

This is the shorter and more direct route. Keep the locked door in mind as you move so that you do not mistake the second ruin for the first entrance.

  • A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
  • Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. 1. Stand at the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door. Treat this doorway as your navigation anchor. The first chest is not inside the door or immediately beside its frame.
  2. Walk away from the door along the path. Do not turn toward the nearby rear entrance used for the second key. Continue until the route reaches a bend.
  3. Watch the right-hand bend. At that bend, inspect the ruins on the left. The location is described as resembling a church or chapel, so look for the more substantial, chapel-like remains rather than a tiny isolated wall.
  4. Search the ruins for a frozen hatch. The cover is sealed by ice. A frozen Beorcan figure is positioned to point toward the entrance, and the top of a ladder can be seen through the ice. Those two details distinguish the correct hatch from ordinary rubble.
  5. Break the ice covering the hatch. The frozen cover must be removed before you can use the ladder. If you cannot see a ladder below, you are probably looking at the wrong section of the ruins or have not exposed the hatch completely.
  6. Descend the ladder. The first route has a short descent, so you should arrive in a compact underground room rather than a long tunnel network.
  7. Open the chest in that room. This chest contains the first Twinned Key. Once you have opened it, return to the surface and head back toward the locked door if you want to continue directly to the second route.

Landmarks that confirm the first route

  • The ruins are on the left when you reach the right-hand bend while traveling away from the locked door.
  • The hatch is frozen over, not merely closed.
  • A frozen Beorcan points toward the hatch.
  • The top of a ladder is visible through the ice before you descend.
  • The chest is in a small room immediately below this entrance.

How to get the second Beorcan’s Twinned Key

The second route begins near the door but uses the back of a separate ruin. Its entrance is easy to miss if you try to open the ruin’s visible door first.

  1. Return to the locked door area. You can begin this search from the same door used for the first route.
  2. Locate the small ruin near the door. Its visible doorway is locked from the other side. That locked door is a landmark, not the entrance you need.
  3. Circle around to the rear of the ruin. Walk around the structure instead of trying to force the front door. The correct approach is behind the ruin.
  4. Find the small wall beside the rear approach. A hatch sits beside this wall. As with the first route, a frozen Beorcan marks the entrance.
  5. Open the way down and descend. Follow the hatch into the underground passage. This route is longer than the first because the chest is reached through a hallway rather than a single small room.
  6. Move through the underground hallway carefully. An enemy is present on this route. Deal with it or pass it according to your normal play style before continuing through the passage.
  7. Look for the ladder with mushrooms growing on it. This unusual growth is the key landmark in the underground section. It identifies the ladder that leads upward toward the locked ruin.
  8. Climb the mushroom-covered ladder. At the top, you emerge in the room behind the ruin’s locked door. You have approached the door from the side that was inaccessible from outside.
  9. Open the chest in that room. The chest contains the second Twinned Key.

Landmarks that confirm the second route

  • The ruin is small and close to the locked door.
  • The visible door is locked from the opposite side, so it is not the entry point.
  • The actual hatch is behind the ruin, beside a small wall.
  • A second frozen Beorcan points toward this hatch.
  • An enemy occupies the underground hallway.
  • The ladder you need has mushrooms growing on it.
  • The ladder brings you into the room behind the locked door, where the second chest is located.

Breaking the frozen hatches without losing the route

Both key entrances use the same visual language: an underground hatch hidden under ice and a frozen Beorcan indicating where to look. The ice is not a decorative clue; it is the obstruction that must be broken before the ladder can be used.

For the first key, confirm that the hatch is in the church-like ruins on the left at the right-hand bend. For the second, confirm that you are behind the small ruin and beside its small wall. If you find a locked doorway instead of an icy hatch, you are looking at the ruin’s blocked side rather than the underground entrance.

After the ice is gone, pause long enough to identify the ladder. On the first route, the ladder top is visible through the opening. On the second route, the important ladder is underground and has mushrooms growing on it, so do not expect to see that landmark from the surface.

Troubleshooting the two locations

You cannot find the first hatch

  • Return to the locked door and deliberately travel away from it; the first landmark is not found by circling the door in place.
  • At the right-hand bend, search the ruins on the left side of the path.
  • Look for church- or chapel-like remains rather than the small ruin associated with the second key.
  • Use the frozen Beorcan and the ladder visible under the ice as confirmation before breaking the cover.

You keep finding a locked ruin door

  • That door belongs to the second route and is locked from the other side.
  • Do not treat the locked door as a failed interaction that must be opened from the front.
  • Walk around the ruin to its rear, then search beside the small wall for the icy hatch and frozen Beorcan.

You reached an underground passage but cannot identify the exit

  • The second route contains an enemy in the hallway, so the passage is not the compact room used by the first key.
  • Continue until you find the ladder with mushrooms growing on it.
  • Climbing that ladder places you in the room behind the ruin’s locked door, where the second chest is waiting.

You are unsure which chest you opened

Use the route landmarks rather than relying on an assumed inventory label. The first chest is below the ice-covered hatch in the church-like ruins. The second is in the room behind the small ruin’s locked door. The available walkthrough descriptions establish the two chest locations, but they do not establish the inventory’s precise wording for each key.

Do you need the Twinned Keys to finish the main story?

No. The locked-door challenge is optional if your goal is only to progress through the main story. The two keys are needed to pursue what is behind that door, but the cited walkthroughs do not identify the rewards there, so it is not possible to name specific loot reliably.

This makes the decision straightforward: collect both keys when you want to investigate the optional area, or leave the door closed and continue the main story without diverting to either underground route.

What is and is not established about the rewards

The location information establishes two separate chests and the path to each one. It does not establish the exact items behind the locked door, and it does not provide a definitive inventory name for each individual key beyond the shared Twinned Keys description. Avoid treating an unverified reward list or a guessed key label as part of the solution.

The reliable completion test is physical: you have visited both marked hatches, opened the chest beneath the chapel-like ruins, opened the chest in the room behind the small ruin, and then returned to the locked door if you intend to use the keys.
