Try these Apple-documented shortcuts, but check your iPhone model and iOS version first: not every feature or menu label is available on every device.
Start with the iPhone model and iOS version
“Hidden” here means overlooked or non-obvious, not secret. Apple’s iPhone User Guide landing page is labeled for iOS 26, while some individual feature guides use iOS 27 paths. Menu names and button locations can change between releases and differ by model, so use the Settings search field if a listed route does not match your screen. Browse the iPhone User Guide.

Set up Back Tap for a quick action
Back Tap assigns an action or shortcut to a double- or triple-tap on the back of the iPhone. Apple describes it as an accessibility action, but it can also make a frequently used task easier to reach. Apple Support: Tap the back of iPhone to perform actions or shortcuts.
- Open Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap.
- Choose Double Tap or Triple Tap, then select an action. You can set an action for both gestures.
- To run a Shortcut, choose one of the Shortcut options shown in Back Tap and select the shortcut you want.
- Try the gesture. If you trigger it accidentally, return to Back Tap and choose a different gesture or action.
Copy text from the Camera view with Live Text
Live Text can recognize text in a Camera view and let you select it for copying, looking up, translating, web searching, or sharing. Depending on the detected text, iPhone may also offer actions such as opening a phone number or website. Availability varies by language and region; Apple does not promise it works with every language or location. Apple’s Live Text instructions.

- Open Camera and point the iPhone at readable text.
- Wait for the detected-text indicator to appear, then tap it.
- Touch and hold the text, adjust the selection if needed, and choose an available action such as Copy, Translate, or Search the Web.
Use Visual Intelligence only on supported devices
Visual Intelligence can help identify or act on things in the physical world, and Apple also documents analyzing onscreen content using the screenshot buttons. Its method and available actions depend on the iPhone model; some capabilities require Apple Intelligence and supported hardware. Customize Control Center
Control Center can be tailored by adding, removing, resizing, or moving controls. Open Control Center, use its edit controls, then select Add a Control to browse available options. A touch and hold on some controls reveals additional choices. The exact edit control and layout may differ with iPhone model and iOS version. Apple’s Control Center guide.

One important distinction: tapping Wi-Fi in Control Center temporarily disconnects the iPhone from the current network; it does not fully switch Wi-Fi off. To turn Wi-Fi off, open Settings > Wi-Fi.
Use handy gestures in Safari and while typing
Safari
- Double-tap the top edge of the screen to return to the top of a long page.
- Touch and hold a link to preview it before opening it.
- To translate a page, open the Page Menu and choose Translate if that option is available. Translation availability varies.

Keyboard cursor and undo
- While typing, touch and hold the space bar. The keyboard becomes a trackpad, letting you move the insertion point more precisely.
- To undo a text edit, swipe left with three fingers.

Make accessibility features easier to reach
For an accessibility feature you use often, you can set up an Accessibility Shortcut, add a control in Control Center, or ask Siri to activate it where supported. Button-click options depend on whether your iPhone has a side button or Home button, and labels may vary by system version.
- For the button shortcut, open Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut and select the feature or features to include.
- For Control Center, open it, enter edit mode, choose Add a Control, and select an accessibility control from the gallery if available.
- Use Siri for a supported feature by naming the feature you want to turn on.
