If it is missing, check an invite, the Featured Series listing or the Featured Series marker at Legion Square: Slasher can rotate in and out of featured events.
How to find and launch a Slasher job
- Open the Pause Menu.
- Select Online → Jobs → Play Job → Rockstar Created → Adversary Modes.
- Choose an available Slasher job and join or host the match.
You may also join through an invitation, a featured entry on the main menu or the Featured Series marker at Legion Square. If Slasher is not listed, check the live Featured Series and Rockstar’s October seasonal announcement. The announcement describes Slasher content and 3X GTA$ and RP in all Slasher modes in the Featured Series, including the Ramius submarine variation; featured availability changes, so confirm the job is currently selectable in-game.
The listed locations are job settings, not places you need to visit in Freemode to start a match.
How Slasher mode works
Slasher is an asymmetric Adversary Mode for 2–8 players: one player hunts as the Slasher while the rest play as the Hunted. Matches unfold in dim or dark environments. The mode guide says players of any level can join.

The Slasher’s opening
The Slasher starts with a flashlight-equipped Pump Shotgun and 40 shells, plus a Machete—except on the Ramius submarine map, where the melee weapon is a Pipe Wrench. The Slasher has three minutes to find the Hunted. Rockstar’s Adversary Modes tips also describe the opening hunt and the Hunted’s flashlights.
The Hunted’s opening
The Hunted begin with flashlights and must survive. Using a flashlight helps you see, but can reveal your position. The mode guide says Hunted players can use map knowledge, radar and sound; the Slasher’s footsteps and actions are audible.

When the hunt reverses
If any Hunted players remain after three minutes, they receive flashlights-equipped shotguns with 80 shells and can turn the tables on the Slasher.
Rounds
The host can set the match to one, two, three or four rounds to win; two is the default, according to the mode guide.

Practical first-match tactics
- As Hunted: Move carefully and listen for footsteps and other actions. Use your flashlight when visibility matters, but remember it can give away your position. A headset is optional; it may make audio cues easier to hear, but it is not required.
- As Slasher: Use the flashlight to check dark areas, and listen and search methodically during the three-minute opening. Do not assume every target will be visible at once.

The original Slasher mode arrived with Rockstar’s 2015 Halloween Surprise. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.71 notes documented the Ramius submarine variation as available October 16–November 6, 2025. Those dates describe that update’s event window, not a promise of year-round access; check the current job list for what is playable now.
