Open Fortnite’s Locker from the lobby, choose the cosmetic you want to use, then click back. If a purchased skin is missing, first check that you are signed into the Epic account that bought it, then review the Locker category, filters, and Archived items.
How to equip a skin from your Fortnite Locker
- Launch Fortnite and open Locker from the lobby.
- Select the Outfit or other cosmetic you want to equip.
- Click back to leave the selection screen. The selected item is equipped.
Use the relevant Locker category for other cosmetics, such as Back Bling or Pickaxe.

If a purchased skin is missing
Work through these checks in order; each one can explain why an owned cosmetic is not visible.
1. Check the Epic account
Confirm Fortnite is running on the Epic account used for the purchase. If you have more than one account, compare the account email with the purchase receipt email. Fortnite items remain on the account where they were purchased, earned, or claimed; Epic does not allow players to manually transfer them between Fortnite accounts. Also check which Epic account is linked to your console or platform before concluding the item is lost.

- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
2. Check the category and filters
Open the expected item type, such as Outfit, Back Bling, or Pickaxe. Clear any active Sort and Filter settings, then apply the change and review the Locker again.
3. Check Archived items
Cosmetics that were archived are hidden from the usual Locker view. Look for the Archived filter and follow Epic’s current archive instructions to unarchive an item.

4. Review purchase history and receipts
Epic’s cosmetic purchase-history view covers only the last 30 days. In Fortnite, open Profile Icon → Settings gear → Account and Privacy → Return or Cancel Purchase. You can also start from the Fortnite Item Shop on the web after signing in. For older purchases, check the receipt and the account email associated with it.
5. Consider a refund or payment reversal
If Fortnite displayed a notice that an item or V-Bucks were removed, Epic says a refund or payment reversal can cause removal. A refund or reversal by the sender can also affect a gifted item. If you bought through a third-party seller, such as a console storefront, contact that seller or platform for support.

Accidentally bought the wrong cosmetic?
Epic describes two possible in-game return routes for eligible V-Bucks Item Shop purchases. Eligibility depends on timing, whether the item was used or equipped, ticket availability, and exclusions; neither route guarantees that a particular purchase can be returned.
| Option | Timing and conditions | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel Purchase | Available for 24 hours after an eligible Item Shop purchase if the item has not been used or equipped in any game mode. | Cancels the eligible purchase. |
| Return Ticket | An eligible Item Shop purchase made within the last 30 days may be returnable, subject to ticket availability and exclusions. Accounts start with three tickets, receive one new ticket every 365 days while below the maximum, and can hold up to three. | Returns the item and refunds its V-Bucks cost. An entire bundle must be returned together. |
Epic’s current in-game route is Player Icon → Hamburger menu → Support and Refunds → Return or cancel purchase. Because menu labels and eligibility rules can change, consult Epic’s live support page before starting a return.
Rank #4
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
These V-Bucks return routes are different from refunds for purchases made with real money through a third-party platform. Epic says it cannot process those platform refunds; use the platform’s refund process.
