The quickest way to find a WooCommerce product ID is to open WooCommerce > Products in your WordPress dashboard, locate the product, and hover over its title or row. WooCommerce displays the numeric ID beneath the title. Copy that number for the shortcode, add-to-cart link, widget, or integration that requested it.

Find a product ID in the WooCommerce dashboard

  1. Sign in to the WordPress admin area for your store.
  2. Open WooCommerce > Products.
  3. Find the product. Use the list’s search or filter controls if the catalog is large, and check the title carefully when similar products exist.
  4. Hover over the product title or its row. The product ID appears beneath the title.
  5. Copy the number and paste it into the shortcode, URL, widget, or integration that needs the product reference.

WooCommerce documents this hover method and notes that IDs are used by features such as shortcodes, widgets, and product links (Product ID documentation; add-to-cart URL guide). Labels or layout can vary slightly between WordPress and WooCommerce releases, but the Products list is the standard place to start.

Product ID versus SKU

A product ID is WooCommerce’s numeric identifier for a specific product record. It is not the same as the SKU (stock-keeping unit) that you assign for inventory or business purposes. The WooCommerce REST API exposes id and sku as separate fields, so do not substitute an SKU when an instruction asks for an ID (WooCommerce REST API products).

When you need the ID in a link or shortcode

Add-to-cart URLs

WooCommerce’s add-to-cart format places the number in the add-to-cart URL parameter. For example, a link pattern may look like https://example.com/?add-to-cart=123, where 123 is replaced by your product’s ID. Use the ID shown in the Products list rather than guessing from the product name (WooCommerce add-to-cart URLs).

Product shortcodes

For legacy WooCommerce product shortcodes, the ids attribute accepts comma-separated post IDs. A pattern such as

displays the products represented by those IDs; replace the examples with your own values (WooCommerce product shortcodes).

Retrieve a product ID through an API

WooCommerce REST API

Developers with API credentials can request a product by ID using GET /wp-json/wc/v3/products/<id>. In the REST API schema, id is a read-only integer. This approach is useful for integrations or scripts that already have authenticated API access, but it is unnecessary when you only need to copy one ID from the dashboard (REST API v3 products).

WooCommerce Store API

The public Store API provides product data through GET /products/:id. It exposes published products; requests for drafts or other non-published products return not found. Use this route when building a storefront-facing integration, not as a replacement for the dashboard when working with private catalog records (Store API products endpoint).

If the number is not obvious

  • Confirm that you are in WooCommerce > Products, not a general WordPress content list.
  • Hover directly over the product title or row and allow the row actions to load.
  • Verify the title, variation or product type, and publication status before copying the number.
  • Do not rely on an edit-screen URL as the canonical method: URL formats can vary with configuration and plugins.
  • If an API response is available, check the field named id, not sku.
