For an early, repeatable farm, use the Central Yharnam lamp. Clear the nearby Huntsmen and street mobs for Blood Vials, then give priority to rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen when Quicksilver Bullets are the immediate problem. Return to the lamp, reset the area and run the same circuit again. If you already have enough Blood Echoes, purchasing supplies can be faster than waiting for drops. When your bullet reserve reaches zero, Blood Bullets provide an emergency five-bullet conversion at the cost of HP.
The quickest answer: run a compact Central Yharnam loop
Central Yharnam is the practical starting point because the lamp is close to several ordinary Huntsmen, rifle users and wheelchair enemies. You do not need a long expedition or a late-game unlock. The farming guide’s concise verdict is: “Central Yharnam is your answer.”
Use this order when you need both resources:
- Spawn at the Central Yharnam lamp.
- Clear the nearby street mobs and Huntsmen, collecting Blood Vial drops as you go.
- Kill rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen early if Quicksilver Bullets are the limiting resource for your next attempt.
- Finish the larger melee enemies and beasts on the route for additional Blood Vials.
- Return to the lamp before the run becomes unsafe, reset the area and repeat.
The efficient loop is not the one with the largest theoretical drop table. It is the one you can clear consistently without dying, spending excessive healing items or losing the Blood Echoes earned on the way.

Choose the resource that is actually stopping you
If you are dying because every mistake consumes a vial, clear the ordinary Huntsmen, larger Huntsmen and beasts first. If a firearm or parry is essential to your next fight, route toward rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen before spending time on enemies that mainly improve your vial stock.

Carry a reset plan
A farming run should end at a lamp, not when your character is nearly dead in an unfamiliar street. Decide in advance which enemies you will skip if your health, durability or healing stock becomes uncomfortable. A short, repeatable circuit produces more supplies over time than an ambitious route that occasionally ends in a death.
Separate farming from progression
Do not treat every enemy on the map as mandatory. You are collecting supplies, not clearing the area for the first time. If a corner requires several heals or creates a high chance of losing your accumulated Blood Echoes, leave it for a normal progression attempt and reset sooner.
Early-game route: Central Yharnam step by step
1. Start at the lamp and establish a direction
Begin at the Central Yharnam lamp and follow the nearby streets and houses you already know. Keeping the same direction on every attempt makes enemy positions predictable and lets you judge whether a run is becoming inefficient.
2. Sweep the ordinary Huntsmen for Blood Vials
The regular street enemies are the foundation of the vial portion of the farm. Collect drops immediately when the area is safe, but do not stop in an exposed position to pick up an item while another group is active. The route also includes larger melee enemies and beasts; these are useful targets when Blood Vials, rather than bullets, are your bottleneck.
3. Prioritize rifle Huntsmen for ammunition
Rifle Huntsmen are the most direct early target when Quicksilver Bullets are running low. Approach from cover or from an angle that prevents several enemies from firing at once. Once the rifle enemy is down, collect the drop and continue rather than waiting for a perfect clear of every nearby group.

4. Include wheelchair Huntsmen when bullets matter more than speed
Wheelchair Huntsmen are another documented source of Quicksilver Bullets. They can be worth the extra seconds when you are preparing for a firearm-heavy encounter. If you only need a few vials and already have sufficient ammunition, you can shorten the run by skipping a dangerous wheelchair position.
5. Return, reset and repeat
Go back to the Central Yharnam lamp after the selected circuit. Resetting at the lamp is the important part: it restores the enemies so the same compact path can be run repeatedly. Track how many resets you can complete without a death; that practical rate is more useful than a single unusually lucky drop.

Enemy variants do not all share the same quantity or chance. The published drop tables show why the best target can change by location and variant. One listed Huntsman Rifle variant gives Quicksilver Bullets ×3 at a 100% listed chance (Bloodborne Wiki, page accessed 2026), while other Huntsman entries have lower listed chances or different quantities.
Use the tables as a guide to target selection, not as a promise that every run will produce the same inventory. A 100% entry applies to the specific enemy variant and area listed, not to every rifle Huntsman in the game. Your own time per clear, risk of being hit and number of resets per hour determine the useful yield.
- For Blood Vials: favor groups of ordinary Huntsmen, larger Huntsmen and beasts that you can defeat without healing repeatedly.
- For Quicksilver Bullets: check rifle Huntsmen first, then wheelchair Huntsmen, especially when the listed quantity is better for that particular variant.
- For both: keep the route compact so that each reset starts quickly and safely.
- For Blood Echoes: include enemies you can kill reliably, because those echoes can be converted into purchased supplies instead of relying on a drop.
Mid-game: choose the shortest safe loop
There is no universal mid-game route that beats Central Yharnam for every character. As your damage and survivability improve, compare routes using the same practical measures:

| Measure | What to record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Required progression and distance from the nearest lamp | A stronger enemy table is less useful if reaching it takes longer than several Central Yharnam resets. |
| Clear time | Time from lamp departure to return | Shorter loops usually produce more attempts per session. |
| Death risk | How often a mistake ends the run | A death can erase Blood Echoes and cancel the expected value of a long route. |
| Blood Vial yield | Vials collected per reset | Use this when healing is the resource limiting progress. |
| Quicksilver Bullet yield | Bullets collected per reset | Use this when firearms or parries are required. |
| Echo income | Blood Echoes earned while clearing | Echoes can make buying supplies faster than continuing to farm drops. |
Run a candidate route for several resets, then compare the average result rather than judging it from one lucky or unlucky attempt. If a route gives slightly better drops but takes twice as long or causes frequent deaths, the compact Central Yharnam circuit remains the more efficient choice for that character.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesLate-game and DLC option: Research Hall
Research Hall becomes a useful ammunition supplement after you have unlocked that area. It is a progression-gated alternative, not an early replacement for Central Yharnam.
The Research Hall table lists a Gatling-wheelchair enemy with Quicksilver Bullets ×6 at a 76% listed chance (Bloodborne Wiki, page accessed 2026). That quantity can make the target attractive when bullets are the priority and you can defeat it safely. The same area also lists Church Servants as Blood Vial sources.
Build the Research Hall run around the enemies you can dispatch consistently. If the Gatling-wheelchair encounter forces repeated healing, causes deaths or makes the return to the lamp cumbersome, its larger listed drop may not beat a safer early route in actual supplies per minute.
Buy supplies when Blood Echoes make it faster
Drop farming is not automatically the cheapest or fastest option. If a previous hunt has left you with enough Blood Echoes to purchase the supplies you need, buying them avoids travel through enemy groups and the randomness of a drop table. This is especially valuable before a boss attempt when you need a predictable stockpile immediately.

Use this decision rule:
- Buy now when you have the required Blood Echoes and want to return to a boss, summon or difficult area without another combat loop.
- Farm drops when your Echo balance is low, you are already near a convenient lamp, or the route also provides useful echoes and practice.
- Combine both when a purchase covers the immediate attempt and one short loop rebuilds your reserve afterward.
Do not spend a large amount of time farming a low-probability drop while unused Blood Echoes sit available for supplies. Conversely, avoid risking a large Echo balance on a long route when a short reset would provide enough materials.
What to do when you run out of Quicksilver Bullets
Use Blood Bullets as an emergency bridge
Blood Bullets let you create ammunition from your own health. Press Up on the directional pad to trade HP for five bullets; the Bloodborne Wiki lists the conversion as “+5 bullets” (page accessed 2026).
Use the conversion when a firearm shot or parry is necessary and your normal stockpile is empty. Heal immediately afterward if the area is still dangerous. The health cost makes Blood Bullets a bridge to safety, not a replacement for a sustainable Quicksilver Bullet supply.
Spend the emergency bullets deliberately
- Reserve them for a required firearm attack, a parry opportunity or a situation in which ammunition prevents a likely death.
- Do not convert HP merely to maintain a preferred attack pattern during a routine farm.
- After using them, make the next safe lamp reset or purchase your priority so the temporary solution does not become a repeated health drain.
Quicksilver Bullets also appear as treasures and enemy drops throughout the main story, downloadable content and chalice dungeons, so a complete shortage is usually temporary if you search methodically and keep a reliable farming loop available.
Fixed pickups and one-time supplements
Some locations provide useful ammunition without being a repeatable lamp farm. The Iosefka’s Clinic information lists a ten-bullet treasure in the clinic courtyard and two Blood Vials inside the clinic. Brainsuckers in that area can drop three or four Quicksilver Bullets. These pickups and kills can repair an early shortage, but they should be treated as supplemental resources rather than an endlessly repeatable route.

Route comparison by progression
| Route or source | When to use it | Best target | Documented information | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Central Yharnam lamp loop | Early game and whenever you need an accessible reset | Street Huntsmen, rifle Huntsmen, wheelchair Huntsmen, larger Huntsmen and beasts | Guide identifies it as the general answer for both resources | Drop quantity and chance vary by enemy variant |
| Specific Huntsman Rifle variant | When that listed enemy is on your route | Rifle Huntsman | Quicksilver Bullets ×3 at a 100% listed chance for one variant (Bloodborne Wiki, page accessed 2026) | The figure does not apply to every rifle Huntsman |
| Research Hall | After the area is unlocked through DLC progression | Gatling-wheelchair enemy and Church Servants | Quicksilver Bullets ×6 at a 76% listed chance for the Gatling-wheelchair enemy; Church Servants list Blood Vial drops (Bloodborne Wiki, page accessed 2026) | Later access and potentially higher risk |
| Iosefka’s Clinic | When collecting early fixed resources | Courtyard treasure, clinic items and Brainsuckers | Ten-bullet courtyard treasure, two Blood Vials inside, and three- or four-bullet Brainsucker drops | Not a permanent lamp-reset farm |
| Purchase with Blood Echoes | When you need supplies immediately and can afford them | Supplies at the game’s purchasing facilities | Can be more time-efficient than insisting on enemy drops | Consumes Echoes that could be saved for other needs |
Troubleshooting an inefficient farm
“I get vials, but almost no bullets.”
Move rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen earlier in the circuit. The route’s ordinary mobs are useful for vials, but they should not consume your entire run when ammunition is the limiting item. Check that you are comparing the correct enemy variant rather than assuming every Huntsman shares one drop table.
“The route takes too long.”
Remove optional corners, especially fights that require repeated healing. Return to the lamp as soon as the selected targets are dead. A shorter reset with a lower per-run total can outperform a full clear because it produces more attempts and fewer deaths.
“I keep losing my Blood Echoes.”
Shorten the loop and set a retreat point before starting. Farming is successful only when the average completed run is positive. If an enemy group regularly kills you, skip it until your damage or knowledge improves.
“I used Blood Bullets and died.”
The conversion removes HP, so never press Up in the middle of an exposed fight unless the bullets are immediately necessary. Move to safety first when possible, convert only what you need, then heal before continuing.
“I found a one-time cache and expected it to return.”
Fixed treasures such as the Iosefka’s Clinic courtyard ammunition are supplements, not lamp-loop drops. Once collected, switch back to a repeatable enemy route or purchase supplies with Blood Echoes.
Quick Recap
A practical farming checklist
- Identify whether Blood Vials or Quicksilver Bullets are the immediate bottleneck.
- Start at the nearest reliable lamp; use Central Yharnam for the accessible early-game loop.
- For vials, clear the Huntsmen, larger Huntsmen and beasts you can defeat safely.
- For bullets, prioritize rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen.
- Stop before the route becomes a death risk, return to the lamp and reset.
- After several resets, compare completed-run time, deaths, drops and Blood Echoes.
- Buy supplies instead when your Echo balance makes purchasing faster than another farm.
- If ammunition reaches zero during a dangerous attempt, use Blood Bullets for five emergency bullets, then heal.
- After DLC progression unlocks Research Hall, test its Gatling-wheelchair and Church Servant targets against your safer route rather than assuming the larger listed drop is automatically better.
