After verifying your phone number, check YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility to confirm that live streaming is enabled. Phone verification unlocks computer live streaming at YouTube’s intermediate-feature level, but you must also meet YouTube’s age and channel-standing requirements. Your first stream can take up to 24 hours to become available.
Enable live streaming after phone verification
- Verify your phone number. In YouTube Studio, open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Under Intermediate features, select VERIFY PHONE NUMBER and complete the text-message or voice-call code check. YouTube’s India instructions describe the phone verification process for India-based channels. You can also review YouTube’s general account verification steps.
- Check Feature eligibility. Return to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and inspect the features enabled for your channel. YouTube lists computer live streaming at the intermediate level, which phone verification unlocks. Higher daily limits are associated with advanced feature access; check the panel for your channel’s current status and limits. See YouTube’s feature access information.
- Confirm that the channel and creator qualify. YouTube says the channel must have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the creator must be at least 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
- Wait if this is your first stream. YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours after live streaming is turned on. If the option is not available immediately, check Feature eligibility again after allowing this activation period.
- Choose how to broadcast. Use a computer webcam, a streaming encoder, or a console, depending on your setup. The webcam workflow is Create → Go Live → Webcam and requires a webcam. YouTube also supports encoder and console streams; its webcam instructions explain that route.
For India-based channels, YouTube says successful phone verification adds a “phone verified” label to the channel’s About page, visible to users in India. That label records the phone check; it does not replace the other eligibility checks.
Choose a streaming method

The mobile app’s 50-subscriber minimum is specific to streaming from a phone or tablet. It does not mean you need 50 subscribers to use the computer webcam route; that route has its own equipment requirement and still depends on channel eligibility.
If “Go Live” is missing
- Phone verification is incomplete: Open YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and finish the intermediate-features phone check.
- Feature access has not updated: Check which features the panel shows as enabled. For a first stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- The channel has a live restriction: Review the channel’s standing and any notices from YouTube. YouTube lists policy violations, copyright matches to another live broadcast, and other conditions among reasons live-streaming access may be disabled.
- You are trying to stream from a phone: Confirm the channel meets the mobile-specific subscriber and device requirements. A computer route avoids the mobile app’s 50-subscriber minimum, but not the general channel eligibility rules.
- You are considering another channel to get around a restriction: YouTube says an active live-stream restriction cannot be evaded by streaming through another channel. Read its guidance on avoiding live-streaming restrictions.

YouTube says the label on the channel’s About page is visible to users in India.

Not necessarily: YouTube says first-time live activation may take up to 24 hours, and mobile streaming has additional requirements.
