Turn on Twitch’s global Drops & Quests alerts at Settings → Notifications → Marketing, then save. To follow a specific reward, watch a stream carrying the Drops Enabled tag and open Drops & More from the chat Drops icon or banner. The panel shows the requirement and a live progress bar; Drops Inventory is the account-wide place to claim ready rewards and check deadlines.
Notifications are optional: Twitch states that “Disabling notifications does NOT stop you from earning Drops.” What matters for progress is watching an eligible participating channel while signed in, meeting the campaign requirement, claiming the reward within the displayed claim period, and having the required game account connected for delivery.
What Twitch Drops notifications actually control
Twitch uses notifications to tell you about Drops and Quests activity; they do not grant eligibility and they do not determine whether watch time counts. The global setting controls alerts across Twitch, while a channel’s bell controls notifications from that individual channel. You can use either scope or both.

The global control is in your Twitch account settings. It is the best choice if you participate in campaigns across several games or channels.
- Sign in to Twitch in a browser or the Twitch app.
- Open your profile menu and choose Settings.
- Select Notifications.
- Open the Marketing section.
- Turn on Drops & Quests.
- Save the change if Twitch presents a save button.
This setting changes notification delivery only. Twitch’s help wording is explicit: disabling notifications does not stop you from earning Drops, so a viewer who leaves the setting off can still accumulate eligible progress.

Notifications for one channel
When you care about a particular streamer, use the bell on that channel and choose the notification level you want. This is a narrower control than the global Drops & Quests setting: it follows that channel rather than every campaign on Twitch. A channel bell alert also does not replace the requirement to verify that the broadcast is participating in the relevant campaign.
How to identify a stream where progress can count
Open a stream whose directory listing or channel page visibly shows the Drops Enabled tag. Twitch’s developer documentation says viewers will see that a game has Drops Enabled in the Twitch directory. The tag is the first eligibility check, but it is not the only one: the campaign may limit progress to particular games, participating channels, dates, or reward types.

- Confirm the stream is in the game category named by the campaign.
- Keep the correct Twitch account signed in while watching.
- Use a participating channel; watch time on an unrelated channel does not automatically transfer.
- Check the campaign’s start and end information before relying on a long viewing session.
Campaign times are entered in UTC in Twitch’s campaign tools. Convert the displayed schedule to your own time zone, and use the campaign deadline shown in Twitch as the authority if a schedule appears different elsewhere.
Track a reward while you watch
Twitch provides an in-chat progress view for the current channel. This lets you check a campaign without leaving the stream.

- Open the eligible stream.
- At the bottom of chat, select the Drops icon. If a Drops banner appears at the top of chat, selecting that banner opens the same area.
- In Drops & More, select the reward card for the campaign.
- Read the requirement and inspect the progress bar. The card identifies the reward and the associated game or partner.
- Continue watching an eligible participating channel until the requirement is complete.
The panel can show an EXPIRING SOON warning when a reward or its claim period is approaching its deadline. Treat that warning as a prompt to open the inventory and read the exact end time rather than assuming that more viewing time will remain available.
Understanding the progress requirement
Twitch groups campaign requirements into watch-time Drops and subscription-based Drops. A watch-time card measures qualifying viewing; a subscription-based card uses the campaign’s subscription condition instead. The card’s own text is the authoritative requirement for that reward, so do not infer that every Drop uses the same number of minutes or the same action.
Twitch’s developer guide allows campaign creators to set time-based requirements from 15 minutes to 15 hours. That range describes what the campaign tool permits, not a promise that every campaign will use either endpoint. Read the individual card for the actual requirement.
Use Drops Inventory for every campaign
The chat panel is limited to the current channel. Drops Inventory is the account-wide view for active campaigns and rewards earned across channels.

- Open your Twitch profile menu while signed in.
- Choose Drops or Drops Inventory, depending on the current Twitch menu label.
- Review active campaign cards and their progress.
- Open a card to see its requirement, game or partner, claim state, and any deadline.
- Select Claim when the reward is marked ready.
Twitch says a claim notification appears when requirements are met. If you miss that notification, the reward can still be claimed from Drops Inventory during the available claim period. Therefore, use the inventory as the definitive check instead of relying on a pop-up or a chat banner.
What the card states mean

Claiming a Drop and getting it into the game
Finishing the progress requirement and receiving the item in a game are separate stages. Claim the completed reward in Drops Inventory, then verify the account connection required by that campaign.

Automatic game-account delivery
Twitch says most rewards are delivered automatically to a connected game account. Before expecting an in-game item, open the campaign’s account-linking option and confirm that the Twitch account is connected to the correct game account. If more than one account is available, check the identity carefully; linking the wrong account can send delivery to an account you do not use.
The available evidence establishes that a connected account is required for in-game delivery, but it does not establish one universal rule that every campaign blocks the claim until linking is complete. Follow the campaign card’s instructions: claim when Twitch marks the reward ready, and complete the required connection before troubleshooting missing delivery.
Code-based delivery
Some campaigns issue a code for redemption on a third-party website rather than sending the reward directly to a game account. After claiming, read the card or confirmation for the code and the named redemption destination. A code-based Drop is not evidence that automatic in-game delivery failed; it is a different fulfillment method.

How long delivery can take
Twitch’s current viewer-help page says most delivery occurs within 24–48 hours, while some rewards can take up to seven days. Those are documented windows, not a guarantee for every campaign. Keep the claim confirmation and campaign details while waiting, and check the publisher’s campaign instructions if the stated window passes.
Deadlines, post-campaign claims, and inventory retention
Do not confuse three different clocks:

Twitch’s developer documentation also discusses viewers claiming Drops up to 14 days after a campaign ends in an analytics context, while the viewer-help guidance describes seven days after the campaign. Because these references serve different contexts, use the deadline displayed for the individual campaign rather than applying either number universally.

A completed-looking progress bar does not always mean the claim button will appear immediately. Work through the checks below in order.
1. Confirm the campaign and channel are eligible
- Look for the Drops Enabled tag on the game directory or stream.
- Verify that the stream is in the campaign’s specified game category.
- Make sure the campaign is still within its active dates.
- Check that the reward card is the one whose requirement you completed; another campaign can have a similar name or artwork.
2. Check both progress locations
Refresh Drops Inventory and compare it with the current-channel Drops & More panel. Twitch says progress can be tracked in chat for the current channel and in Drops Inventory across active campaigns. The inventory is the better place to find a missed claim notification or a reward that no longer appears in chat.

3. Verify the viewing session
Remain signed in to the Twitch account that owns the inventory. If you changed accounts, used a signed-out window, or watched a channel that was not participating, that session may not contribute to the intended reward. Reopen the eligible stream and allow the progress card to load before assuming the counter is stalled.

A reward may be earned but no longer claimable if its campaign-specific claim deadline has passed. Open the card for the exact status and any EXPIRING SOON warning. Do not substitute the general seven-day guidance for the date Twitch displays on that reward.
Why progress is not moving
Progress should be diagnosed from eligibility first, not from notification settings. Turning Drops & Quests alerts on or off does not decide whether viewing counts.
- Check the category and the visible Drops Enabled marker.
- Confirm that the Twitch account remains signed in.
- Open the Drops icon or banner in chat and read the current reward card.
- Open Drops Inventory to see whether progress is being recorded there.
- If the campaign uses a subscription requirement, confirm that you have met the subscription condition stated on the card rather than waiting for watch-time progress.
Twitch’s campaign tool supports requirements from 15 minutes through 15 hours, so a slow-looking bar may simply reflect a longer requirement. Use the numeric requirement on your card instead of comparing its speed with another campaign.
What to do when a claimed reward is missing in-game
First, open Drops Inventory and verify that Twitch records the reward as claimed. Next, check that the game account connected for the campaign is the account you actually play on. If the campaign provides a code, look for the redemption instructions rather than waiting for automatic delivery.
Allow the documented delivery window: most rewards arrive within 24–48 hours, but some take up to seven days. If the reward is still missing after the applicable window, contact the game publisher or campaign owner using the support route named in the campaign. Twitch’s developer documentation assigns fulfillment to the campaign owner’s game integration, so the publisher is the appropriate party to investigate an in-game delivery failure.
