For example, devices['Galaxy S24'] configures a 360 × 780 viewport, device scale factor 3, mobile emulation and touch; the profile’s default browser type is Chromium. These are Playwright’s emulation settings, not a guarantee of identical behavior on every Samsung phone or in Samsung Internet.
Use a built-in Samsung device profile
Playwright device descriptors package settings such as viewport, screen, user agent, device scale factor, mobile behavior and touch support. Import devices and spread the selected descriptor into your test or browser context. The official Playwright emulation guide explains the emulation categories.
With the Playwright Test runner
In a test file using @playwright/test, set the profile for the test context:

With a browser context directly
If you manage the browser lifecycle yourself, spread the same descriptor into browser.newContext:

Choose the Samsung profile that matches the test
The descriptor values below are from Playwright’s device registry; values can change with Playwright releases. The dimensions are CSS viewport width × height, not a universal specification for every owner’s device or settings.

Use the inner and cover-screen descriptors as distinct Fold targets; a single narrow-phone profile cannot represent both layouts. Viewport dimensions are the direct inputs for responsive CSS breakpoint behavior. Device scale factor affects the relationship between CSS pixels and device pixels, while mobile and touch flags affect browser behavior beyond size alone.

Set a custom Samsung-like viewport when no profile fits
For a specific layout size that is not represented in the registry, set the context properties relevant to the test. Keep them coherent: viewport and screen dimensions alone do not reproduce a device profile’s user agent, mobile behavior or touch support.

});Use a real user-agent string only when the test requires one; the placeholder above is not a valid device identity. For unusual combinations, check the current API documentation for your Playwright language and version. Prefer a named descriptor whenever it matches the target because its related settings are supplied together.
Know what Playwright device emulation can verify
A Samsung profile is useful for responsive layout checks, mobile user-agent handling and touch-oriented interactions. It does not establish that a page behaves exactly as it does on Samsung hardware, a particular Android build, or Samsung Internet.

Samsung documents a Samsung Internet user-agent format that uses SamsungBrowser/version for Samsung device browsers. For Samsung Internet v24.0 and later, its documentation describes a unified platform token as part of user-agent reduction. See Samsung’s user-agent string format documentation for the details.
If the issue depends on Samsung Internet rendering, device hardware, sensors, keyboard behavior, browser chrome, or a particular OS and browser build, verify it on a real device or an Android environment running the target browser. Desktop Chromium with a Samsung descriptor is not a substitute for that test.
Troubleshoot common emulation problems
The device profile name is undefined
Check the spelling and capitalization against the installed Playwright registry, and confirm that devices is imported from the same Playwright package used by your project. Descriptor names are exact keys, such as Galaxy S24.
The layout does not match the phone
Confirm that the test applied the descriptor to the browser context before creating its page, and inspect the actual viewport dimensions. Check whether the defect concerns CSS breakpoints, device-scale rendering, touch behavior or the browser engine. A profile only emulates the properties it configures; hardware and Samsung Internet differences require testing in the target environment.

A Galaxy Z Fold layout looks wrong
Select the profile for the state you are testing: the inner screen or the cover screen. Their viewport dimensions differ substantially, so a test using one should not be treated as coverage of the other.
Touch or mobile-specific behavior is absent
Make sure you applied the whole descriptor rather than copying only its viewport dimensions. If you configure a custom context, set the relevant mobile and touch options explicitly and consult the API documentation for your installed version.
Playwright rejects a context option
Check the option name and availability against the API documentation for your language and installed Playwright version. Avoid assuming that viewport dimensions and mobile-related context options are interchangeable.

Does a Galaxy profile run Samsung Internet?
No. The listed Samsung device descriptors default to Chromium; use a real device or Android environment running Samsung Internet when that browser is the subject of the test.
Can I test both Galaxy Z Fold screens with one profile?
No. Use the separate inner-screen and cover-screen descriptors for those distinct viewport targets.
