As of 19 October 2026, the Billy the Hero Demo is listed on Steam as a free Windows application, but its scheduled release is 31 October 2026 at 07:00 UTC. Until that release time, Steam may not show a playable Download Demo, Install, or Play Demo button. After release, you can find the demo from the Billy the Hero store page or its dedicated demo listing, install it to a Steam library, launch it from your Library, and remove it through Manage → Uninstall.
This guide explains where to look, what to do when the demo is not visible, and what uninstalling changes.
Is the Billy the Hero demo available on Steam yet?
SteamDB lists Billy the Hero Demo as a free-on-demand Windows application published by JOJOJOJOsoft. Its demo App ID is 5087520; SteamDB identifies Billy the Hero, App ID 3594550, as the parent application.

The important qualification is the release schedule. SteamDB records the demo as prerelease with a scheduled release of 31 October 2026 at 07:00 UTC. On 19 October 2026, that date was still in the future. Consequently, the store page can exist without exposing a button that actually installs the demo. A missing button before the scheduled time does not by itself indicate a problem with your Steam account or computer.

The official Steam Community presence for Billy the Hero has also announced that a playable demo was being prepared, with the full game planned for release within that year. That announcement supports the game’s Steam presence, while the scheduled date above is the specific availability information used for this installation guide.
What you need before downloading
- A Steam account that is signed in to the client you intend to use for playing.
- The Steam desktop client installed on a Windows computer. Windows is the operating system listed for the demo.
- Enough free space in the Steam library you select. The Steam listing does not state the demo’s download size, so check the install dialog rather than relying on an unverified number.
- An internet connection for Steam to obtain the files. The demo is a free digital download; no purchase, physical disc, special accessory, or separate product is identified as required.
Because the package is free-on-demand, Steam should not ask you to pay for access to the demo. You still need to use the account that will play it, because the entitlement and library entry are associated with that account.
Find Billy the Hero on Steam
Option 1: Search for the parent game
- Open the Steam client and sign in.
- Open the Store tab.
- Use Steam’s search box to look for Billy the Hero.
- Open the Billy the Hero store page. When the demo is live, look for the page’s demo control or a clearly labeled demo entry.
Searching for the parent game is useful when Steam has not yet exposed a separate demo result in search. The parent application is listed as Billy the Hero, App ID 3594550; the demo itself has a different App ID, 5087520.
Option 2: Open the dedicated demo entry
Steam can expose the demo as its own store entry. If search results show Billy the Hero Demo, open that listing and use its installation control after release. A dedicated listing and the demo area on the full-game page are two ways to reach the same free demo package; neither creates access before the scheduled release time.

Check that you opened the right listing
- The title should identify the Billy the Hero demo, not an unrelated game with a similar name.
- The listing should present the demo as free rather than asking for a purchase.
- The package identifiers associated with the listing are App ID 5087520 and SubID 1762802. These identifiers are useful when distinguishing the demo from the parent game, but ordinary players do not need to enter them anywhere in Steam.
Download and install the demo after release
Use these steps once the scheduled release time has passed and Steam displays an installation control.
- Sign in to Steam. Confirm that the account shown in the Steam client is the one you want to use. If several people share a computer, switching accounts later can make a library entry appear to be missing.
- Open the store listing. Search for Billy the Hero in the Store and open the full-game page, or open the dedicated Billy the Hero Demo listing if Steam shows it.
- Select the demo control. Choose Download Demo, Play Demo, or Install, depending on the label Steam presents. The wording can vary by page state; the purpose is to add the free demo to your account and begin installation.
- Choose a library location. Steam opens an install dialog. Select the Steam Library drive or folder where you want the files stored, then confirm. If you have more than one library, check the destination carefully before starting; the selected location determines where the local files are written.
- Watch the Download Manager. Steam places the job in Downloads (the Download Manager). Keep that view open if you want to see progress, queued items, download speed, and whether the job is paused. Allow the download and any installation processing to finish.
- Open your Library. Select the Library tab and find Billy the Hero Demo in the games list. Steam may show the demo as a separate library entry rather than nesting it under the parent game.
- Launch it. Click Play. If Steam still shows an update or installation step, let that process complete before trying again.
Choosing the right Steam library
The install dialog is the point at which you select the destination. Use a library on a drive with sufficient free space and normal read/write access. No required drive type, minimum storage amount, or special Windows setting is specified in the listing, so do not treat an unverified hardware recommendation as a prerequisite. If Steam offers several libraries, select the one you normally use for games so that the demo is easy to locate and manage.
Confirming that installation finished
The Download Manager is the authoritative place to watch the transfer and installation job. A completed job should leave a Library entry with a Play button. If the entry remains in a queued or paused state, resume it in Downloads before troubleshooting the store page.
Why you may not see a Download Demo or Install button
The scheduled release has not arrived
This is the first check. SteamDB records a release time of 31 October 2026 at 07:00 UTC. On 19 October 2026, the demo could therefore be listed as available in metadata while remaining unavailable to install. Convert 07:00 UTC to your local time and check again at or after that moment. A store page appearing early does not override the release schedule.

Steam has not refreshed the page
- Return to the Billy the Hero store page and reload it.
- Close and reopen the Steam client if the old page state persists.
- Search for Billy the Hero again and check both the parent-game page and any dedicated demo result.
These steps only refresh what your client displays; they cannot make a prerelease package playable before its scheduled launch.
You are signed in to a different account
Verify the account name in the Steam client. A demo added to one account’s library will not automatically appear in another account’s Library on the same computer. Sign in with the account that should own and play the demo, then repeat the store search.
Library filters are hiding the entry
In Library, review the current filters and search text. A filter that limits the view to installed games, a custom collection, or another category can hide a newly added demo. Clear the search field and broaden the Library view, then look specifically for Billy the Hero Demo.
The store region or account context is different
Confirm that Steam is showing the correct Store region for your account. Availability can be affected by the store context Steam is using, and the release metadata does not establish a separate regional rollout schedule. If the scheduled time has passed and the demo is still absent, check the region setting and sign-in state before assuming that the package has been withdrawn.

You are looking only at the full-game controls
The parent game’s page and the dedicated demo page can present different controls. Search for the exact demo title as well as the parent title. Conversely, do not mistake a purchase control for the free demo control: the demo is a separate free package.
The Download Manager has not completed the job
If you already selected the demo control but cannot launch it, open Downloads. A paused, queued, or still-processing job may not yet produce a usable Play button. Resume the job and wait for Steam to finish before repeating the store installation step.
Dedicated demo page versus the full-game page

These are access paths, not different editions. The demo package is identified separately from the parent game, but the store listings do not establish different content or performance between the two store-page routes.

- Open the Steam client and select Library.
- Find Billy the Hero Demo in the games list. Clear Library filters or search terms if the entry is not immediately visible.
- Right-click the demo’s entry.
- Choose Manage → Uninstall.
- Confirm Steam’s prompt.
Steam’s Steamworks documentation states that a player who already has a demo in the library can uninstall it, including after a developer deactivates the demo. The menu path above is the normal Steam client route for removing this local installation.

What uninstalling removes
Uninstalling removes the demo’s local game files from the selected Steam library. It is a disk-space operation, not an account deletion. Steam can retain the library record, so the title may still appear in your account and can be installed again while the demo remains available.
What the available information does not establish
No Billy the Hero-specific save-file or settings policy is published. Do not assume that uninstalling deletes every save, configuration file, or cloud-synchronized item, and do not promise that those files are preserved. If preserving progress matters, check the demo’s own in-game or Steam Cloud behavior before removing it.
If Uninstall is missing
- Make sure you are right-clicking the installed demo entry, not a store search result.
- Open the Library view and wait for Steam to finish loading the game’s status.
- Check whether the demo is still downloading or updating in Downloads.
- Confirm that you are using the account and Steam installation where the demo was installed.
Reinstalling later
Because uninstalling removes local files rather than erasing the account’s record, you can normally return to the Library entry and choose Install again while the demo remains available to your account. Select a library in the install dialog and let Steam download the package again. If the demo has been deactivated or its availability has changed, Steam may no longer offer a new installation; Steamworks documentation specifically notes that players who already have a demo can uninstall it even after deactivation, so availability after removal should not be assumed indefinitely.
