After downloading, use your normal Windows archive tool to inspect and extract the ZIP, then follow any instructions included with the files. The listing does not document extraction or launch steps, so there is no verified button-by-button installation procedure to give.
Is the download safe?
The creator’s itch.io page establishes where the project is presented for download; it does not establish that the current ZIP is malware-free. The reviewed listing does not publish a cryptographic hash or an independent malware-scan result, and the file has not been verified here by running it or scanning it.

Check that you are on the creator’s listing and that the downloaded file matches the project described there.

Avoid unofficial mirrors, repackaged installers, and pages asking you to install unrelated software. The creator’s listing does not identify those as necessary.
Is the fan project official or authorized?
Square Enix’s Chrono Trigger video and image guidelines, last updated April 10, 2025, allow certain non-commercial sharing of gameplay videos and images subject to conditions. They also reserve Square Enix’s right to request removals and state that unauthorized reproduction and distribution of images is prohibited. Those media-sharing guidelines are not a general license to create, host, or distribute this fan project, and the creator’s listing does not establish Square Enix approval.

The full commercial game is a separate product: Square Enix’s Chrono Trigger listing on Steam names Square Enix as developer and publisher and gives February 27, 2018 as its release date. Steam lists minimum requirements of Windows 7/8/8.1/10, an Intel Core i3 2.3 GHz processor, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 530, and 2 GB storage. However, the Steam client has required Windows 10 or later since January 1, 2024, so the older Windows versions in the game’s minimum-requirements text do not mean the current Steam client supports them.
