There is no confirmed permanent public download for the Second Stone demo as of October 19, 2026. The official Steam listing says the game is not yet available and gives no release date beyond “To be announced.” The current online route is to request access through Steam’s “Join the Second Stone Playtest” section; Steam will notify you only if the developer opens a place for you.
What is currently available?
Second Stone is an upcoming Windows action-adventure platformer with action-RPG combat from Skyward Entertainment, published by Headup. Its central concept is movement between two parallel worlds, with elemental Manastones affecting play. Those details help you distinguish the official listing from similarly named projects or unofficial files.
At present, the official Steam page states: “This game is not yet available on Steam.” It does not offer a normal public demo button, a direct demo file, or a separate installer. Instead, it presents a playtest sign-up section. A request is an application for access, not an entitlement, so submitting it does not guarantee that the game will appear in your library.

How to request the official Steam playtest
Use the Steam store page identified as Second Stone, developed by Skyward Entertainment and published by Headup. Follow these steps in a desktop web browser or in the Steam client:
- Open the official Second Stone Steam store listing.
- Check the developer and publisher names. The listing should identify Skyward Entertainment as developer and Headup as publisher.
- Look for the section titled “Join the Second Stone Playtest.”
- Select the control to request or join the playtest.
- Confirm the request when Steam asks. Steam records your interest and will notify you if the developer is ready to admit more participants.
- Wait for Steam’s notification. Access depends on the developer opening additional places; it is not granted immediately to every applicant.
If the page shows that no places are currently available, leave the request in place if Steam allows it and check the listing again later. Do not download a file offered by an unrelated site as a substitute. The official pages reviewed do not publish a separate demo archive or special installer.
How to install Second Stone after access is granted
Once Steam grants your account access, the entitled build uses the normal Steam installation process. You do not need a special demo installer.
- Open the Steam desktop client and sign in to the same account used for the playtest request.
- Open Library and search for Second Stone.
- Select the game entry. If the entitlement has been applied, Steam will show an Install button instead of only a store or wishlist option.
- Select Install, choose the Steam library location, and review the destination before confirming.
- Allow Steam to download and install the entitled Windows build.
- When installation finishes, select Play from the library.
The exact disk-space requirement, graphics requirements, build number, and playtest closing date are not stated on the cited official pages. Steam may display additional requirements after access is enabled; use those values rather than relying on third-party system-requirement lists.

If the game does not appear in your library
- Verify that Steam is signed in to the account that submitted the playtest request.
- Sign out of Steam, restart the client, and sign back in to refresh the account’s entitlements.
- Revisit the store listing and confirm whether Steam has sent an access notification.
- Check your Steam notifications and the email address associated with the account.
- If the listing still offers only the playtest request, access has not yet been granted; there is no installation step to perform until Steam adds the entitlement.
Is the Second Stone demo free on Steam?
The official material establishes a playtest request, but it does not publish a separate demo price or a permanent free-demo download. Do not interpret the presence of a “Join the Second Stone Playtest” option as proof that every Steam account can download the game immediately. Your practical question is whether Steam has granted your account an entitlement; the Library page will show that through an available install option.
What if Steam does not grant access?
There is no confirmed alternate online demo download at this time. If your request remains pending, the useful actions are:
- Wishlist Second Stone on Steam so you can follow changes to the listing.
- Monitor official announcements from Steam, Skyward Entertainment, and Headup for a newly opened playtest, a public demo, or a release date.
- Return to the Steam listing periodically and read the playtest section for updated participation instructions.
- Avoid unofficial “demo” installers, torrents, repacks, and file-hosting links. They are not identified as official by the Steam, GOG, or publisher information described here.
A waitlist request is still worthwhile if you want to be considered, but it should not be treated as a reservation or a promise of access.

GOG’s page currently labels the Windows version “Coming soon.” Its FAQ says, “You do not need GOG Galaxy to play Second Stone.” GOG also describes a fully offline installer for the future released game. That makes GOG a potential installation route after the commercial release, not a current source for the demo.

Installing from GOG later
When the game is actually released on GOG, the storefront’s offline installer option should allow you to download an installer and run it without keeping GOG Galaxy installed. The current listing does not establish a demo download, a release date, a price, or the final installer’s system requirements. Do not use the future offline-installer statement to infer that a present-day demo is available.
The gamescom demo was an event opportunity, not a permanent download
An official Steam Community announcement documented an in-person demo at the Headup publisher booth in the Indie Arena Booth, hall 10.2, at gamescom in Cologne on August 22, 2026. That date has passed. The announcement says visitors could try the demo at the booth; it does not provide a permanent online link or a downloadable build for home use.
If you see posts referring to the gamescom demo, treat them as historical event information unless a newer official announcement explicitly opens another event or online test. The event demonstration and the Steam playtest are separate access routes.

How to verify that a download is legitimate
Because no permanent public demo file is confirmed, verification matters more than finding the fastest-looking download. Use this checklist before installing anything:

- Store identity: The Steam listing should name Skyward Entertainment as developer and Headup as publisher.
- Access language: An official current route uses the “Join the Second Stone Playtest” section, not an anonymous download button.
- Account entitlement: After approval, the build appears in the Steam Library for the account that was accepted.
- No special installer claim: The cited official pages do not identify a standalone demo executable or archive.
- Platform match: The listed game platform is Windows. A file claiming to be an official macOS, Linux, mobile, or console demo is not supported by the stated information.
- Announcement source: New access instructions should come from the official Steam listing, Skyward Entertainment, or Headup.
Common problems and what they mean
“I clicked join, but nothing downloaded.”
That is expected when the request has not been approved. Joining the playtest places your account in consideration; it does not start a download. Wait for Steam’s notification and check your Library only after an entitlement is granted.
“I can see the store page but no Install button.”
The account likely has no playtest entitlement yet, or the client has not refreshed. Confirm the account, restart Steam, and check notifications. If the page still offers only the request or wishlist controls, there is no official build available to install for that account.
“A website offers a Second Stone demo ZIP.”
The official information does not identify such a file. Do not treat an unverified ZIP, installer, torrent, or repack as the demo. Use the Steam request process and official announcements instead.
“Can I use GOG Galaxy to get the demo?”
No current demo route is established through GOG. The GOG FAQ’s statement that Galaxy is optional concerns the future released game and its offline installer, not a present playtest download.

“I missed gamescom.”
The documented booth demonstration was tied to the August 22, 2026 event in Cologne and is no longer an available access method. Follow official channels for any new event or online test.
Is Second Stone released yet?
No. The official Steam listing says the game is not yet available and gives its release date as “To be announced.” GOG likewise marks the Windows game “Coming soon.” Until one of those listings changes, the game should be treated as unreleased, with access limited to any developer-approved test or time-limited event.
What to expect from the game
The official descriptions present Second Stone as a two-world action RPG that combines platforming with combat. Players move between parallel worlds, and elemental Manastones are part of the game’s distinctive mechanics. These identifiers are useful when checking that you have found the correct Steam page and not an unrelated title.
