Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. SEGA lists both Xbox versions as digital-only, so you install the game from the Microsoft Store rather than from a disc. Sign in with the Microsoft account that should own the game, open the Store, search for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, choose an edition, complete the purchase, and select Install. If you already own it, use My games & apps > Full library > Owned games. Keep the console online until the download and any update finish.
Is Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds available on Xbox?
Yes. The game supports both generations of Xbox console:
- Xbox One
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
SEGA announced the launch for September 25, 2025, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The current product information is available on the official Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds site and in the SEGA release announcement.

SEGA’s platform list specifically says “Only available in digital format” for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, along with the other listed platforms. That means you should look for the Xbox Store listing, not an Xbox game disc.

What you need before starting the download
Prepare these items before opening the listing:
- An Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S connected to the internet.
- A Microsoft account signed in on the console. Use the account that should own the license; buying while signed in to another account can make the game appear unavailable later.
- A valid payment method or account balance if you are buying the game.
- Enough free console storage for the game and its updates. The Store will show the installation requirement on the current listing.
- Time for the download and any post-download update. The exact duration depends on your connection and the size of the current files.
Xbox menu labels can change slightly after system updates. If a label differs, use the equivalent Store, library, or queue option rather than assuming the game is missing.
How to buy and install the game from the Xbox Store

Connect the console and sign in
Turn on the Xbox and connect it to your network. Sign in to the Microsoft account that should receive the game license. If several profiles are present, check the profile icon before you buy.

Open Microsoft Store
From the Xbox Home screen, open Microsoft Store. You can find it in the app list or from the Home screen’s Store tile, depending on your dashboard layout.

Search for the exact title
Use Store search and enter Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Open the official Xbox listing, checking the title and publisher details before selecting a purchase option. Avoid similarly named add-ons or unrelated search results.

Choose an edition
The Store may show a standard edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition. Open each available option to see its current regional price and included content. Edition names, discounts, and downloadable content can change, so rely on the live listing at the time you buy.

Complete the purchase
Select Buy or the equivalent purchase button and follow Microsoft’s payment prompts. Confirm the account, price, currency, and edition before authorizing the transaction. The price shown on the Store is the relevant price for your region and date; it may not match a price shown elsewhere.

Select Install
After the transaction succeeds, choose Install. Xbox adds the game to the download queue. If the Store returns to the product page, select the install control there rather than buying again.

Watch the queue
Open My games & apps > Manage > Queue to see progress. The wording can vary with the console’s system update. Leave the Xbox connected while the game downloads and while any required update is applied.

Launch after completion
When the queue reports that installation and updates are complete, open the game from My games & apps or the Home screen. Starting before an update finishes can leave online features unavailable or trigger another update.
How to install a copy you already own
You do not need to buy the game again when the purchase is attached to the Microsoft account currently signed in.

- Sign in to the account that purchased Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
- Open My games & apps.
- Select Full library.
- Open Owned games.
- Find Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, select it, and choose Install.
- Check My games & apps > Manage > Queue until the download and updates finish.
If the title is not in Owned games, do not purchase it immediately. First confirm that the console is using the same Microsoft account used for the original transaction, then check the Store product page and the queue.
Which Xbox edition should you select?
The Xbox Store can present more than one edition. The available names, prices, discounts, and downloadable content are regional and can change over time.

There is no need to select a physical-product option for Xbox. SEGA’s current product page identifies Xbox versions as digital-only.
What happens during installation?
After you select Install, Xbox downloads the license-linked game files and places them in the installation queue. The console may also download a separate update before the first launch. The progress indicator can pause while another game or app is using the network, while the console is handling another queue item, or while the Store verifies the transaction.
Use My games & apps > Manage > Queue to check whether the item is downloading, queued, paused, or complete. If the queue is paused, resume it from the queue screen. Keep the console powered in a mode that allows downloads to continue, and avoid disconnecting the network until the status is complete.

If the game is installed but an update remains, wait for the update to finish before judging whether the installation worked. A title can appear on the Home screen while its final update is still pending.
What is included in the Xbox version?
The Xbox Store listing describes racing across 24 tracks and 15 CrossWorlds. It also lists the following play options:

These are features of the game listing, not a promise that every mode is available without an internet connection or without any current Xbox network requirement. For online modes, sign in to the appropriate Xbox account and follow any network or subscription prompt shown by Xbox at the time you play.
Can you install it on Xbox One?
Yes. Xbox One is an explicitly supported platform, alongside Xbox Series X|S. Select the Xbox Store listing while using the console on which you want to play. The Store determines compatibility for the signed-in console and account.

Xbox Series X|S owners should likewise use the Xbox listing rather than a PC, PlayStation, Nintendo, Steam, or Epic Games listing. A listing for another platform does not install the Xbox version.

Is there an Xbox disc version?
SEGA currently states that the Xbox versions are “Only available in digital format.” The installation path is therefore the Microsoft/Xbox Store download. Do not assume that an Xbox disc exists because a retailer search shows a product with a similar name.
If you have a disc in hand, check its platform carefully. A disc for another console cannot be used as an Xbox installation license, and SEGA’s current product information does not establish an Xbox physical edition. Unless SEGA or Xbox changes the product listing, use the digital Store version.
Troubleshooting a missing or failed installation
The game does not appear in Owned games
- Sign out and back in with the Microsoft account that completed the purchase.
- Open the Store and search for the title directly; the product page may show Install even when the library view has not refreshed.
- Check My games & apps > Manage > Queue for a paused or failed download.
- Restart the Xbox, then open the Store and library again.
- Verify that the console has enough available storage.
If the purchase was made on a different account, the license remains associated with that account. Switching profiles does not transfer ownership.
The download is stuck or repeatedly pauses
- Open the queue and resume the item if it is paused.
- Check that the Xbox still has an internet connection.
- Pause other downloads or updates so the game can use the available bandwidth.
- Restart the console and retry from the Store product page.
- If the problem continues, check Xbox service status and try again later; a temporary service issue can prevent Store operations.
The Store shows a different price or edition
Prices, discounts, edition names, and included DLC can vary by region and change over time. Confirm the currency, account region, edition name, and contents on the live Store listing before completing the transaction. A price from an older page or another region is not a reliable current price.
The game is installed but will not start
- Return to the queue and verify that every game update has completed.
- Confirm that the signed-in account has the license.
- Restart the Xbox and try launching from My games & apps.
- Check available storage if an update cannot finish.
- For online play, sign in to Xbox network services and follow any current subscription or network prompt.
You are trying to use a disc
Confirm that it is not a disc for another platform or another game. The current SEGA product page identifies Xbox versions as digital-only, so a disc-based Xbox installation is not the supported route.
Using the official product pages
The Xbox product listing is the authoritative place to check the current edition names, price for the selected region, compatibility, purchase controls, and listed features.
