To show a lesson timetable during an always-on YouTube education stream, add it to the video image your encoder sends to YouTube. In OBS or another encoder, place a timetable graphic or display source in the scene alongside the lesson feed, then preview the combined output. A stream title, description, or scheduled start time is metadata; it does not put a timetable over the video.
Choose how students will find the lessons
Decide first whether lessons will use one continuing live destination, separate scheduled broadcasts, or both. A continuing stream gives viewers one recurring place to return to. Separate broadcasts can have class-specific timing and details. If you plan to automate a continuous feed alongside individual broadcasts, verify current YouTube Studio and API behavior before building the workflow around it.
Build the timetable into the outgoing video
- Prepare the timetable. Include the relevant day, class name, start and end times, and the intended time zone. Choose whether it should stay visible throughout the lesson or appear in a dedicated schedule scene.
- Create or select an encoder scene. Add the lesson source and the timetable as a graphic or display source. Arrange them so the schedule remains legible without obscuring important lesson content.
- Preview the composed output. Confirm that the timetable is actually visible in the picture being sent to YouTube, not merely in a separate document or in the stream metadata. The OBS community guide explains the general idea of composing sources in a scene, though its interface guidance is old; check the current controls in your encoder version.
- Configure the YouTube destination. In YouTube Studio or Live Control Room, choose the appropriate live destination and schedule it if needed. YouTube supports broadcasting with an encoder; use current YouTube Help guidance for the interface because labels and steps can change.
- Check the stream as a viewer. Verify that the timetable is readable in the actual output, that the class times and time zone are correct for the intended audience, and that the lesson feed remains visible.
There is no universal font size, color, or screen position that suits every timetable and lesson layout. Judge readability against your video composition and the viewing conditions of your audience.
Check channel eligibility and student access
- Live-stream eligibility: YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days to meet its stated prerequisites. Confirm the channel’s current eligibility before launch.
- Managed school accounts: If students use K–12 Google Workspace for Education accounts, ask the school administrator to check the account settings. YouTube says access is administrator-controlled, student access requires parental consent where enabled, and the stated defaults disable live streams for student accounts.
- Policies: Live streams remain subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube may age-restrict or remove content and restrict a channel’s ability to livestream for policy violations.
