In Miro it usually means a custom board template; in DocHub it is a saved image in an image library; in Gleanin it belongs to a campaign theme. HubSpot’s similarly named feature is for CRM message templates, while IBM/SoftLayer uses “image template” for a cloud virtual-machine image. Identify the application first, then follow the matching procedure below. Deleting the wrong container can remove more than one design.
Choose the correct workflow
| Application | What the template is | Can one item be deleted? | Important consequence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Miro | Custom board template | Yes, when you own it or have the documented admin permission | Deletion is immediate; an Undo notification appears on the board |
| DocHub | Saved image template | Yes | A confirmation dialog offers Yes or No |
| Gleanin | Campaign image variation inside a theme | No, according to its help guidance | Hide the variation, or delete the entire containing theme |
| HubSpot | CRM message template (not necessarily an image asset) | Yes, subject to creator or super-admin permissions | Deleting a theme or image is not the same operation |
| IBM/SoftLayer | Cloud infrastructure image-template object | API material exists, but the older guide is not current console guidance | Do not apply design-app instructions to a virtual-machine image |
If your app is not listed, look for the product’s template gallery, image manager, campaign themes, or administrator settings. Do not confirm deletion until the screen identifies the exact object and its parent.
Delete a custom template in Miro
Miro’s documented route applies to custom templates in the template picker. The controls are permission- and plan-dependent.
- Open a Miro board and open the template gallery (the template picker).
- Find the template in Custom Templates.
- Hover over the template to reveal its three-dot context menu.
- Choose Delete.
- Watch for the deletion notification at the bottom of the board. Miro documents an Undo action there; use it immediately if you removed the wrong template.
Who can delete it?
A template owner can manage their own custom template. On Enterprise, a Company Admin with Content Admin permissions can manage shared Company or Team templates. Miro also identifies company-template features for Business and Enterprise plans. Your workspace may show different labels or controls, so check the current Miro settings when the menu is missing.

If Delete is not visible
- Confirm that you are viewing Custom Templates, not a read-only community or organization gallery.
- Check whether you created the template or whether your role includes the required content-management permission.
- Ask the workspace administrator whether the template is shared at Company or Team level.
- Do not delete the source board as a workaround; that can affect collaborators and is a different object.
Delete an image template in DocHub
DocHub’s documented image-management path is:
- Open Devices.
- Choose Manage Images.
- Locate the image template you want to remove.
- Open its Actions menu and select Delete.
- In the confirmation box, choose Yes to delete or No to cancel.
The source documentation is a DocHub feature page rather than a versioned manual. If your account uses a different navigation layout, search the Devices area for image management instead of assuming that a missing menu means the image is undeletable.
Before confirming
- Compare the template name and preview with the image you intend to remove.
- Check whether documents or workflows depend on that saved image.
- If the confirmation offers only a generic name, cancel and verify the item from the image list first.
Gleanin: hide an image template or delete its theme
Gleanin distinguishes between hiding a template and deleting one. Its help guidance says an individual image template cannot be deleted. You therefore have two different outcomes.
Hide one template
Use the campaign’s Themes editing flow and hide the unwanted template. Hiding keeps the underlying design available in the theme but prevents it from being presented as an active choice.
Delete the containing theme
- Open the Campaign dashboard.
- Open Themes.
- Find the theme that contains the image template.
- Click the theme’s trash icon.
- Confirm Delete.
This removes the entire theme, not just one image variation. Gleanin requires at least one theme to remain available, so do not delete the last one. If you need to preserve the other variations, hide the individual template instead.
Recommended Free Tools
How to choose
- Choose Hide when only one variation is obsolete and the rest of the theme is still needed.
- Choose Delete theme when the complete collection is obsolete and you have checked its campaign use.
HubSpot message templates (only if that is what you mean)
HubSpot’s procedure concerns CRM message templates, not a general image library. Use it only when the item appears under Message Templates.
- Go to More > CRM > Message Templates, or open Message Templates directly.
- Hover over the template.
- Select Actions > Delete.
- Confirm the deletion.
To remove several templates, select their checkboxes, choose Delete above the table, and confirm. A private template can be deleted by its creator or by a super admin with a paid seat. If the item is an image used inside an email, deleting the message template may not remove the underlying image asset; manage that asset in the location where it was uploaded.

Cloud “image templates” are a different object
IBM/SoftLayer developer documentation describes deleting an infrastructure image template through the SoftLayer_Virtual_Guest_Block_Device_Template_Group::deleteObject API. That is a cloud virtual-machine image, not a graphic or campaign design. The guide is several years old, so treat it as historical API material rather than current cloud-console instructions. Verify the current IBM Cloud API and account safeguards before deleting any machine image. Never use a design-app workflow for a production server image.
Why deletion controls differ
Ownership and role
Products commonly restrict deletion to the creator, owner, paid-seat user, or an administrator. Shared templates may belong to a team or company rather than to your personal library.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Plan and edition
Company-level template management can be limited to particular plans. A missing control can therefore indicate an edition restriction rather than a browser problem.
Container behavior
Some products delete a single record (Miro and DocHub), while others expose only a parent-level operation (Gleanin themes). Confirm whether the action affects one variation, every variation in a theme, or a message record that merely references an image.
Undo and confirmation
Miro documents an immediate deletion with an Undo notification. DocHub asks for Yes or No. Gleanin’s theme deletion requires confirmation. If no recovery path is shown, export or duplicate the design before proceeding.
Troubleshooting checklist
The Delete command is missing
- Verify that you are in the correct object type: custom template, image manager, campaign theme, or CRM message template.
- Sign in with the account that owns the item, or ask an administrator with the documented permission.
- Check whether the workspace plan supports shared-template administration.
- Refresh the page and reopen the picker; do not infer that a hidden menu means the item is permanently protected.
The wrong item was deleted
In Miro, use the bottom-of-board Undo notification immediately. In products without an undo control, look for a recycle bin, version history, export, or administrator recovery process before creating a replacement.
Gleanin will not let you remove one image
That behavior is expected under its documented model. Hide the image in the theme editor, or delete the whole theme only when you are prepared to remove every variation it contains and at least one other theme remains.
The menu labels do not match
Product interfaces change by account layout, role, and edition. Search the app’s help center for the exact object name shown on screen, and avoid following instructions for a neighboring feature such as HubSpot message templates.
Deletion is blocked by dependencies
Identify campaigns, boards, documents, or automations that reference the template. Replace those references first when the product warns that the object is in use. A template can be visually unused while still being selected by a scheduled workflow.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to capture a clean image of a web page rather than remove a saved template, ScreenshotNeo returns a screenshot or PDF from one request. It accepts cookie and consent banners as a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing result. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
