Open Loadouts from the main menu, choose a class, then select the soldier or weapon you want to change. For soldiers, choose NATO or PAX Armata, select a character, and choose Customize. For weapons, select the primary weapon in the class loadout and open its customization screen. The same general workflow covers classes, weapons and vehicles, although faction and playlist rules can limit what you can equip.
The most common source of confusion is cosmetic layering: a Weapon Package can display its own weapon appearance over a universal camo. If a camo seems to have disappeared, inspect the base weapon and the package separately.
Customize a soldier outfit
- From the main menu, open Loadouts.
- Choose the class whose soldier you want to edit.
- Open the faction selector and choose NATO or PAX Armata.
- Select the soldier and open the soldier-parts panel.
- Choose the character, then select Customize. EA lists the controller prompts as Square on PlayStation, Y on Xbox and X on PC. See the official missing-content guide for the current menu path.
- Choose an earned outfit or other available cosmetic and confirm the selection.
Faction selection comes before outfit selection for a reason. Some skins are restricted to one faction, so an item you unlocked may not appear while browsing the other side. If a character or outfit is missing, switch factions first rather than assuming the unlock failed.
What the Customize screen changes
The soldier customization screen controls the character appearance associated with that class and faction. It does not change weapon attachments or the weapon’s handling. Edit those from the weapon entry in the same class loadout.

When checking an outfit, make sure you have selected the character itself rather than stopping at the class tile. The appearance list is attached to the selected soldier and faction. If you move directly between class tiles, you can miss the soldier-parts panel where the Customize command appears.
Change a weapon skin or camo
- Open Loadouts and choose the class you want to edit.
- Select the class’s primary weapon.
- Open the weapon customization screen.
- Choose the weapon’s camo or other appearance option, then equip it.
- Save or back out through the confirmation prompt and inspect the weapon preview.
EA defines Camo as a complete paintjob for the weapon. It is an appearance setting, not an attachment and not a change to damage, recoil or other handling values. A camo applies to the weapon presentation you are editing; it should not be expected to change a separate package’s attachment setup.
Use the preview as a verification step. If the item is in the list but the model appears unchanged, do not immediately buy or unlock it again. First determine whether you are looking at the base weapon or at a Weapon Package layered on top of it.

When a camo is not showing
- Return to the weapon’s base form rather than viewing only the active package.
- Check whether the camo is equipped on the base weapon.
- Open the Weapon Package and inspect its own appearance or cosmetic setting.
- Preview the weapon with the package disabled, then with it enabled, to identify which visual layer is being displayed.
- If the base preview shows the camo but the package preview does not, the package is taking visual priority rather than removing your unlock.
Do not treat a missing preview as proof that the unlock is gone. The package may simply be overriding the base weapon’s appearance. EA explains this interaction in its loadout and weapon-classes guide.
Weapon Packages: appearance and function
Weapon Packages are more than skins. Each package supplies a preconfigured set of attachments designed around a combat scenario, and you can edit the package from its base form. The loadout guide allows up to 100 attachment points, so replacing parts can affect the package’s intended balance.
Attachment choices can change recoil, aiming speed, hipfire accuracy, muzzle flash and sound. Those are functional effects, unlike a camo, which changes the paintjob only. If you want the package’s shortcut setup, leave its attachments intact; if you want a different handling profile, edit the package and then verify the resulting stats and preview.
Think of the package as two related layers. The first is the visual presentation, which can override a universal camo. The second is the attachment configuration, which can change how the weapon behaves. You can therefore keep a package for its scenario-focused parts while changing individual attachments, or use the base weapon when you want the universal camo to be the most obvious visual layer.

Base weapon, camo and package compared

The table separates the cosmetic layer from the loadout function. A package can look like a skin in the menu, but it may also supply attachments; a camo does not. Before replacing a package part, note the current setup so you can restore the intended configuration if the new handling feels worse.
Equip outfits for the correct faction
NATO
Choose NATO before browsing soldiers or outfits intended for that faction. If the item is faction-specific, it will not be selectable from the PAX Armata character list. Select the NATO character, open the soldier-parts panel and then use Customize to see the earned items valid for that side.
PAX Armata
Switch the faction selector to PAX Armata, then choose the soldier and open Customize. An outfit earned for PAX Armata should be checked from this side of the menu rather than from NATO. The same character-selection step applies: faction first, character second, customization third.
If an unlocked outfit is missing
- Confirm that you are editing the same faction in which the item is valid.
- Open the soldier-parts panel and select the character before looking for the outfit.
- Restart or return to the main menu if the reward was granted during the current session and the inventory has not refreshed.
- Check EA’s missing-content and rewards support page for edition, event and account-linking requirements.
Faction filtering is also useful when auditing your collection. A reward can be present on the account but absent from the current list simply because the menu is showing the other side. Check both faction selectors before reporting an item as missing.
Why a weapon works in one mode but not another
Battlefield 6 distinguishes between open weapons and closed weapons. Open weapons allow every class to equip any weapon type. Most modes use open weapons by default. Closed-weapon playlists restrict each class to its assigned weapon category.
This means a customized weapon can be valid in one playlist and unavailable in another. The restriction is a mode rule, not evidence that your attachments or camo were lost. If the weapon disappears from a class in a locked-weapon playlist, select a weapon from that class’s permitted category or return to a mode using open weapons. EA documents the distinction in the Battlefield 6 class guide.
Check mode eligibility after finishing customization, not only before it. A loadout can be configured correctly in an open-weapons menu and still be rejected when you join a closed-weapon playlist. Keeping a second class-appropriate weapon ready avoids having to rebuild the loadout at the match screen.

How cosmetic rewards are unlocked
There is no single universal unlock path. EA lists several sources for Weapon Packages and related cosmetics:

- Battle Pass tiers.
- Bonus Paths.
- Store Bundles.
- Limited-time events.
- Edition rewards.
- Twitch Drops.
- Beta rewards.
- Road to Battlefield 6 rewards.
Challenges and progression
Progression-based rewards normally become available as the relevant weapon, hardware category or challenge requirement is completed. Check the item’s unlock description in the loadout menu so you know whether it belongs to a weapon-specific track, a challenge or another progression route. Hardware-level progression can be separate from ordinary weapon-level progress, so read the requirement attached to the exact item.
Battle Pass and Bonus Paths
Battle Pass rewards are claimed through the seasonal reward track. Bonus Paths are separate reward routes listed alongside the main progression. A package or skin can therefore be earned through the pass without being part of the ordinary weapon-level unlock sequence. If you are tracking a particular item, record whether it is on the main tier path or a Bonus Path so you do not spend time repeating an unrelated challenge.
Store Bundles and events
Bundle and event items may be available only during the stated sales or event period. If an event reward does not appear immediately, verify that the event requirement was completed and that the reward was claimed where required. A store bundle can contain a package, soldier skin or profile item, so inspect the bundle contents rather than assuming every purchase is a weapon camo.
Edition, beta and Road to Battlefield 6 rewards
These rewards depend on the edition or promotion attached to your account. They may not appear on a different account, platform profile or edition. Review the entitlement details and sign in with the account that earned the reward. If you changed platforms, verify that the same linked EA account is being used before trying to unlock the item a second time.

Twitch Drops
Twitch Drops require linked accounts and must be claimed within the stated window. Linking an account after a campaign ends does not necessarily restore an expired reward. Check the current EA support instructions for the active campaign before troubleshooting an item as missing. Confirm both the viewing requirement and the claim step; watching alone is not the same as claiming a Drop.
Battle Pass costs and seasonal caveats
EA’s Season 3 announcement says the Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Battle Pass contains over 100 tiers, including Weapon Packages, Soldier Skins and profile customization items. For that season, the full pass costs 1,100 Battlefield Coins, while Battlefield Pro costs USD $24.99 MSRP. These are live-service figures for Season 3, announced May 12, 2026; later seasons can change the price, tier count or reward mix. Check the current season announcement before spending currency. Use the price as a season-specific reference, not a permanent price promise. The pass can combine several cosmetic scopes in one track, so compare the visual item you want with the cost and the required tier or path. If you only want a single package or outfit, check whether it is also available through a challenge, event or bundle before buying the full pass.

The Customize prompt does not appear
Make sure you selected the soldier or character itself, not only the class tile. The prompt appears after selecting a character and opening the soldier-parts panel. On PlayStation use Square, on Xbox use Y and on PC use X, according to EA’s support guide.

Check the faction first, then confirm that the reward belongs to the character or weapon you are editing. Edition, event, beta and Twitch rewards can have account or claim requirements. If the reward was just earned, return to the main menu and reopen Loadouts to refresh the inventory.
The camo is equipped but the weapon still looks unchanged
Inspect the base weapon and the active Weapon Package independently. A package’s visual layer can override the universal camo. Disable the package temporarily to verify the base camo, then decide whether to keep the package’s appearance or edit its configuration.
The weapon is unavailable in a playlist
Check whether the playlist uses closed weapons. In that case, the class can use only its assigned weapon category. The same weapon can remain available in an open-weapons mode.
The package changes the weapon’s feel
Review the attachments rather than treating the package as a purely cosmetic item. Package parts can change recoil, aiming speed, hipfire accuracy, muzzle flash and sound. Restore the package’s base configuration or edit individual parts within the attachment-point limit if you prefer a different handling profile.
A reward is not visible after earning it
Return to the main menu, reopen Loadouts and check the exact faction, character or weapon tied to the reward. Then review whether the source required a separate claim, account link or limited-time window. This sequence distinguishes a delayed inventory refresh from an eligibility problem.

A reliable customization checklist
- Start at Loadouts.
- Choose the class.
- For a soldier, select NATO or PAX Armata before choosing the character.
- Open Customize after selecting the soldier or weapon.
- For a weapon, decide whether you are editing the base weapon, a camo or a Weapon Package.
- Preview the weapon with the package enabled and disabled if the camo is not visible.
- Review the package’s attachments and stay within the 100-point attachment limit.
- Confirm that the current playlist permits the weapon under open- or closed-weapon rules.
- For missing rewards, check the unlock source, account linkage and claim window.
- Verify the current season’s Battle Pass price and contents before spending Battlefield Coins.
This sequence isolates the settings that most often look like one problem: faction eligibility for outfits, visual priority between camos and packages, attachment effects inside a package, and playlist eligibility for weapons.
