To give Streamlabs Cloudbot a custom name, connect a separate bot account to Cloudbot; it uses that account’s username as its identity. Streamlabs says custom naming requires Ultra. During Twitch authorization, make sure you authorize the bot account—not your primary account.
How Cloudbot gets its name
Cloudbot’s visible identity comes from the username of the account connected to it. It is not a separate name field that independently renames your main Twitch account. Streamlabs’ Cloudbot naming guide describes using a separate account as the bot identity and says custom naming is an Ultra feature. Streamlabs describes Cloudbot and its other listed core features as free; the custom name is the feature tied to Ultra. See the Cloudbot product page for its current feature description.
Set a custom Cloudbot name
- Sign in to your main Streamlabs account. Make sure Cloudbot is enabled in its dashboard. If needed, add an account through Account Settings.
- Open Cloudbot settings. In the Cloudbot dashboard, select the Settings tab.
- Choose a separate account for the bot. Create or select an account whose username you want Cloudbot to display. Streamlabs advises against using your personal Twitch account as the bot identity.
- Connect the bot account. In the dashboard, use the “Click here to add” flow to connect it to Twitch. When Twitch authorization opens, check which account is being authorized. Twitch may default to your primary account; if it does, select “not you?” and switch to the bot account before approving access. Streamlabs emphasizes: “Be sure you authorize your new bot account, not your primary account!”
- Test the bot in your channel. Check that it appears under the intended username and responds as expected.
Platforms covered by the naming instructions
Streamlabs’ naming guide documents the procedure for Twitch and says the same steps can be followed for YouTube. The Cloudbot product page also lists Kick as a supported platform, but the naming guide does not establish that the custom-name procedure works on Kick. Do not assume the Twitch and YouTube instructions apply there.
Fix a custom bot that does not respond
- Check that Cloudbot is on. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting guidance says the bot must be enabled.
- Give the bot moderator status. Mod the selected custom bot identity in the channel; moderating a different account will not grant the bot the needed channel role.
- Refresh Cloudbot after changing its name. If it stopped responding after the change, Streamlabs recommends turning it off, relogging, then turning it back on.
- Recheck Twitch authorization. If the primary account was connected by mistake, repeat the connection flow and authorize the separate bot account instead.
