Moto Maker let buyers personalize a Moto X when placing an order, choosing details such as the phone’s colors, accents, memory, and software setup. This is a historical guide: the documented choices varied by market and date, and the sources here do not establish that Moto Maker ordering is available today.
What Moto Maker let you customize
Moto Maker was a pre-purchase design configurator for the Moto X. Its choices covered both the phone’s physical appearance and certain software details. The best-documented U.S. launch options come from AT&T’s August 1, 2013 announcement; Lenovo described a later China offering on May 28, 2015. Those were distinct market and time-specific catalogs, not one universal menu.
How the historical design flow worked
The announcements establish the customization categories and that choices were made when ordering. They do not preserve every screen or button label, so the steps below describe the decisions rather than claim an exact interface sequence.

For the U.S. launch options AT&T described in 2013, buyers could choose 16GB or 32GB. These capacities should not be assumed to apply to every Moto X generation or market. AT&T’s August 1, 2013 announcement.

Choose the front and back
AT&T’s 2013 U.S. announcement described color choices for both the front and back. In Lenovo’s 2015 China announcement, buyers could also choose back materials, including authentic FSC-certified wood and natural leather, alongside colors. Select accent colors
AT&T listed accent colors for the power key, volume key, and camera ring. These smaller details let buyers coordinate the controls and camera area with the phone’s main colors.

Add a back inscription
AT&T said buyers could add a name or short message. Lenovo’s China announcement later specified laser-etching a name or personal message on the back. The laser-etching detail is documented for that China offering.

Set wallpaper and a wake-up message
AT&T’s launch announcement included unique wallpapers and a wake-up message among the choices. Motorola support later documented that a customized Moto X could retain its personalized startup message or wallpaper. Motorola support: removing Moto Maker personalization.

Treat the choices as a design flow before purchase, then review the configuration presented by the ordering channel. The available announcements do not establish the exact review-screen layout, a live-preview feature, button wording, prices, or a total number of possible combinations.

Can you still order a Moto X through Moto Maker?
The dated sources establish the historical U.S. AT&T launch offering and Lenovo’s later China launch, but they do not establish present-day ordering availability. They also do not document the full option inventory for every Moto X generation. This guide is therefore a record of how the documented configurator choices worked, not instructions for using a currently active ordering service.
