Schedule a separate YouTube live-stream event for each season’s premiere, episode, or other live broadcast in YouTube Studio. Give each event a season-specific title and description. If your show is set up as a YouTube podcast, keep all seasons in the same podcast playlist; use ordinary playlists—not additional podcast playlists—if you want season-by-season browsing.
Schedule a separate live-stream event for each season
A scheduled live stream creates its own upcoming event and watch page. It is separate from the playlist that organizes your podcast episodes. You do not need a new channel or a special stream key just because a new season begins.
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live to open the Live Control Room.
- Open Manage, then select Schedule stream.
- Choose Create new to set up an event from scratch, or Reuse settings to start from a previous stream. Reusing settings copies the prior stream’s metadata, settings, and stream key.
- Enter the new event’s details. Make the season and episode clear in the title—for example, Show Name — Season 2, Episode 1 — Episode Topic. This is a practical naming convention, not a required YouTube format.
- Review and update the description, thumbnail, date and time, visibility, and any other settings that should differ. Pay particular attention to details copied through Reuse settings.
- Save or schedule the event, then share its scheduled watch page with viewers.
YouTube says scheduling lets you promote a stream. A scheduled event may appear in subscribers’ feeds as upcoming, where viewers can select Notify me for a reminder. To find scheduled, live, or completed events later, go to YouTube Studio > Content > Live. You can also select a scheduled event from the Live Control Room’s Manage tab when it is time to launch it.
Organize podcast seasons in the right playlist
YouTube treats a podcast as a playlist, with its episodes represented by videos. Its guidance is to put full-length episodes in the podcast playlist in consumption order and include multiple seasons in that same podcast. In YouTube’s words: “If your podcast has multiple seasons, include them in the same podcast.” (YouTube Help: Create a podcast in YouTube Studio.)

That does not prevent you from making season-specific playlists to help viewers browse. Keep the designated podcast playlist as the canonical home for the show, and use additional ordinary playlists for seasons or clips. YouTube says not to add podcast features to those additional playlists.
A live event and a podcast playlist do different jobs: the event provides an upcoming live-stream watch page; the playlist organizes the show’s episode videos. The cited YouTube guidance does not require a separate podcast object, channel, or stream key for each season.

Choose between a fresh event and reused settings

Reusing settings can save setup work, but it does not make the new event a continuation of the prior one. Treat it as a new scheduled event and verify its details before sharing the watch page.
Connect an encoder if you use one
If your production uses an encoder, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key from the event’s setup and enter them in the encoder. YouTube describes the stream key as the password and address used to tell YouTube where the encoder sends the feed. Keep it private, as you would any credential. Reusing settings may retain the previous key; YouTube’s instructions do not require a new key for every season event.

If you are not using an encoder, this connection step does not apply. The season-organizing workflow itself is handled in YouTube Studio.

Check these details before publishing
- Confirm that the event title and description identify the correct season and episode.
- Check the date, time, and visibility before sharing the scheduled watch page.
- If you reused settings, verify every copied field that should change for this event.
- If you use an encoder, confirm that it has the correct server URL and stream key for the event.
- Keep the podcast’s full-length episodes in its single podcast playlist in consumption order; use ordinary playlists for season navigation if useful.
