A scheduled YouTube live event is different: it creates an upcoming broadcast page for a specific session, not a playlist that automatically repeats around the clock. Choose the format that matches your goal, then configure the stream, verify music rights, and plan for interruptions and replay limits.
Choose between a continuous loop and scheduled devotional events
“Playlist schedule” can mean two different things on YouTube:
- A continuous live program: an encoder sends a looping video or media playlist to YouTube as one ongoing live broadcast. This suits a channel intended to play devotional content throughout the day.
- Scheduled live events: you create individual upcoming broadcasts in YouTube Studio, each with its own event page. Viewers can find the upcoming stream and select “Notify me.” This suits planned pujas, bhajans, kirtan sessions, or other services at set times.
YouTube describes scheduling as a way to promote a stream; scheduling alone does not make a broadcast run continuously. You can use both approaches, but decide which one is primary before preparing the media and promotion.
What you need before streaming continuously
Meet YouTube’s live-stream requirements
Before setting up the encoder, confirm the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube states that streamers must be at least 16 years old. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the planned start time. Check YouTube’s current eligibility details at YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.

Prepare a rights-cleared Tamil devotional rotation
Build a video loop or playlist from recordings, songs, visuals, and arrangements that the channel is permitted to broadcast. A song being devotional, traditional, or widely available online does not by itself establish that a particular recording or arrangement is free to use. Keep documentation of permissions and check whether rights holders require attribution or other conditions.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; continued use can lead to interruption or termination. Even if you have a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to prevent detection-related interruptions. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and the copyright basics before going live.

Choose who will operate the encoder
YouTube’s encoder workflow requires software or hardware to send the media feed to the platform. With local software encoding, a computer and its internet connection must remain available while the broadcast runs; a hardware encoder is a separate device to maintain. A cloud playout service can avoid leaving a home computer on. Compare options by who maintains the system, how easily you can update the rotation, what monitoring and recovery are available, how you will preserve an archive, and total operating cost. YouTube’s verified-encoder directory is a starting point, not a guarantee of reliability: YouTube notes that listed verified encoders are not made by YouTube. Create a continuous YouTube Live broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create → Go Live. Create a stream or choose an existing one, then obtain the stream URL and stream key. Treat the key as a secret: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. Keep it out of public descriptions, screenshots, and shared documents.
- Set up the encoder. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in your software or hardware encoder. Select the prepared devotional video or playlist as its media source and configure the encoder to repeat the rotation. The exact looping control depends on the encoder; confirm that it restarts the playlist rather than stopping after the final file.
- Check the feed before starting. Confirm the correct stream is selected, the audio is audible and balanced, the video is displaying as intended, and the playlist advances and loops. Use the encoder preview and YouTube’s live control room preview to catch a wrong source, black frame, muted audio, or incorrect stream key before you start the public broadcast.
- Start and monitor the broadcast. Start the encoder output and verify that YouTube receives the feed. Keep a plan for power loss, internet failure, encoder crashes, and source-file problems. The official setup instructions establish the encoder workflow; they do not promise that a particular setup or service will maintain uninterrupted 24/7 uptime.
- Keep a separate recording if the archive matters. YouTube automatically archives streams shorter than 12 hours. A stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not depend on one continuous broadcast as the only copy of your devotional program. Keep a local or otherwise controlled recording if you need a complete replay.
Schedule recurring devotional live events
- Open the scheduling controls. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream.
- Create or reuse an event. Schedule a new stream or reuse settings from a previous broadcast. Review the title, description, visibility, and other copied metadata; an old event’s details may not fit the next service.
- Connect the encoder when it is time. Send the feed to the scheduled event, check the preview, and start the stream. Creating the event page does not itself broadcast the devotional program.
- Promote a sustainable timetable. Share the upcoming event URL and state its date, time, and time zone clearly. Scheduled streams can appear as upcoming in subscriber feeds, and viewers can select “Notify me.” Avoid advertising a recurring schedule that the channel cannot reliably maintain.
Separate scheduled services are often easier to describe and archive than one uninterrupted broadcast. If you need both an always-on devotional rotation and special live sessions, explain them as distinct formats so viewers know what to expect.

Plan the archive, rights, and monetization separately
Do not assume a 24-hour stream becomes a complete replay
The under-12-hour automatic archive rule means an around-the-clock program may not produce a complete YouTube replay. If preserving each bhajan session or service matters, keep source recordings and create separate, shorter broadcasts or maintain a recording workflow outside the live archive. Check the resulting replay after each event rather than assuming it is complete.
Clear both the broadcast and any replay
Permission to stream should cover the actual recordings, compositions or arrangements, and visuals used. A replay is another public use of that material, so confirm the rights also cover archiving and on-demand viewing. If Content ID claims are expected despite a valid license, ask the rights holder about allowlisting the channel before the stream begins.

Treat revenue as conditional
Eligible monetized streams may use ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships. Eligibility and feature availability depend on YouTube’s rules and the channel’s status. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve, so continuous runtime is not a dependable basis for promising earnings. Check YouTube’s monetization policies for current requirements.
Troubleshoot common continuous-stream problems
