Create the registration form first, copy the link attendees can use to submit it, then turn that URL into a QR code. The code is simply a shortcut to the form: it does not collect registrations itself or create a unique ticket for each attendee.
Create the event registration form
In Google Forms, create a new form and add the questions needed to register attendees. Google’s form customization guidance covers creating a form and adding questions; its Forms cheat sheet explains sharing and reviewing responses.
Keep the form focused on information you need to organize the event, such as attendee names and any relevant contact or event-specific details. Before sharing, review the form as an attendee would and make sure each question is clear.

Choose response settings to suit your event. Google Forms supports options such as collecting email addresses, allowing respondents to edit submissions, restricting who can respond, and limiting responses. You can also customize the confirmation message shown after submission. Available options and labels may change; consult Google’s Forms cheat sheet for current controls.

Do not assume that a response limit alone will manage event capacity or handle a waitlist. Decide how you will monitor registrations and communicate if the event fills.
Copy the link attendees can submit
- Open the finished form and use its share or publish controls to get the respondent-facing link.
- Copy the URL that lets an attendee open and submit the form. Do not use the editing or management URL.
- Open the copied link in a private or signed-out browser window, if practical, and confirm that the form is accessible to the people you intend to invite.
Access depends on the form’s response settings. A code that opens a restricted form will not help attendees who lack permission to respond.

Generate and download the QR code
The Google Forms guidance describes sharing a form link; it does not document a built-in QR-code generator. Generate the code as a separate step by pasting the respondent link into a QR-code generator, or use Chrome’s QR control as described in the American Inns of Court registration guide. Download or save the resulting QR image.
- Open the QR-generation option in your chosen tool or browser.
- Enter or generate the QR code for the form’s respondent URL—not a form editor link.
- Save the image in a format you can place on a sign, slide, or handout.
- Scan the saved image with a phone and verify that it opens the correct form and allows a test submission.
Because the code encodes a URL, changing or closing the form can make a previously distributed code unhelpful. Check the destination before publishing or printing it.

Display the code and provide a plain-link alternative
For an in-person event, place the QR code where attendees can see and scan it, such as an entrance sign or a prominent display. The American Inns of Court guide describes using large displays in multiple locations. For a virtual event, put the code on a slide and also share the form URL in chat, as the guide recommends. A plain link gives attendees another way to register if they cannot scan the screen.
Review incoming registrations
Monitor submissions in the form’s Responses tab. Google Forms can also link responses to Google Sheets for review and further management; see the Forms cheat sheet. Check registrations as the event approaches so you can follow up on missing information or respond to capacity changes.

Registration QR codes are not attendee tickets
A shared QR code sends everyone who scans it to the same registration form. It does not identify an individual attendee or validate entry at the door. If you need a distinct credential per registrant and a scan-based check-in workflow, that is a separate ticketing requirement. The Google Workspace Marketplace listing for QR Code Ticket Per Response For Check-In describes an add-on that offers unique e-ticket QR codes for form respondents. That vendor listing describes its offered function; it is not independent testing of the add-on.
