Build the workflow in n8n by accepting a webpage URL, fetching its HTML, extracting the page title and useful article text, generating artwork from a concise image brief, then inspecting and saving the result. For dependable Hindi lettering, generate the artwork without text and add a proofread Devanagari headline as a separate layer; the available documentation does not establish that an image model will render Hindi accurately.
What the workflow does
The workflow turns a supplied page URL into a thumbnail asset. Its main stages are URL input, page retrieval, HTML extraction, prompt creation, image generation, quality control, and output. n8n documents HTTP requests, selector-based HTML extraction, and image generation as workflow operations. Its example that starts from a form and generates a post and image prompt is a related pattern, not a guarantee that every arbitrary webpage URL will work.
- Receive the target webpage URL from a form or another n8n trigger.
- Fetch the page with an HTTP Request node.
- Extract a title and relevant text with the HTML node.
- Convert those fields into a short, specific visual brief.
- Generate artwork, inspect it, and add or correct the Hindi headline.
- Save or pass the image as a URL or binary file, as the next workflow step requires.
Choose where to run n8n
n8n offers Cloud and self-hosted deployment routes. Choose based on who will manage the infrastructure and how you want to handle credentials and generated files in your environment. The available documentation does not establish a current price or operational-limit comparison between these routes.
Build the workflow step by step
1. Accept a URL
Use a form trigger or another input mechanism to provide the webpage address. Validate that the field contains a URL before requesting it; malformed or empty input gives later nodes nothing useful to process. n8n’s example workflow demonstrates form input in an image-generation flow, but it does not itself implement this exact URL-based workflow.

2. Fetch the webpage
Add an HTTP Request node and configure a GET request to the supplied URL. The node is documented for making HTTP requests; using it to retrieve a webpage is an application of that general capability. A successful HTTP response does not guarantee that the response contains the final visible article content: a site may assemble content in the browser, require authentication, or restrict automated requests.
3. Extract title and article content
Pass the returned HTML to the HTML node and configure CSS selectors for useful fields, such as the document title, Open Graph title or description, and article body. The node supports selector-based extraction from JSON or binary HTML input. It does not execute JavaScript in script tags, so content created only by client-side JavaScript may not appear in its output.

Keep only the information needed for the thumbnail. A title and a short summary are usually more useful prompt inputs than an entire page dump. If the page is blocked, behind a login, or its meaningful content is not present in the fetched HTML, selector changes alone will not make that content available.
4. Write a visual brief
Use a text-generation step to turn the extracted fields into a short image prompt. Specify one visual concept, a focal subject, a clear composition, and open space where the Hindi headline will go. Keep the exact headline in a separate field, rather than burying it in the art prompt, so it can be checked before publication. The n8n example supports the broad prompt-generation pattern; it does not validate a particular prompt or establish reliable Hindi lettering.

5. Generate and review the image
Use n8n’s OpenAI image operation to generate an image from the prompt. Its documented controls include resolution and URL-versus-binary output, with available options depending on the model and operation. Inspect the actual output for subject relevance and legibility at the intended display size before using it.
6. Add Hindi lettering and export
The sources available for this guide do not establish reliable Devanagari text rendering by a particular current image model. Asking the model to draw the headline may work in an individual result, but do not treat that as dependable. For a controlled headline, generate clean artwork and add the verified Hindi text as a separate layer with a renderer and font that support Devanagari. That is a quality-control recommendation, not a claim that a specific font, renderer, or n8n node has been tested here.

Choose image dimensions and format for the blog or publishing platform where the thumbnail will appear. There is no universal blog-thumbnail dimension established by the referenced n8n documentation; verify the exported image in the destination. Select URL or binary output according to what the next node or publishing system accepts.
Hindi headline: model lettering or a separate text layer?

Troubleshooting
- The extracted title or summary is empty: Check the HTTP response and the CSS selectors against the returned HTML. The page may not include the content in its initial response.
- The page looks complete in a browser but extraction misses its article text: The HTML node does not run page JavaScript. A page that assembles content client-side may need a different retrieval approach; the documented fetch-and-extract pattern is not a guarantee for every site.
- The request returns an error or restricted page: Check the URL, the page’s access requirements, and whether the site permits the request. A login wall or anti-bot control can prevent useful HTML from being retrieved.
- The image contains misspelled or malformed Hindi: Do not publish it as-is. Replace the lettering with a separately typeset, proofread headline.
- The image does not fit the blog: Confirm the destination’s accepted dimensions and format, then adjust the image-generation or downstream processing settings and inspect the exported file there.
- A later node cannot use the generated image: Check whether the image operation returned a URL or binary data and configure the next step for that output type.
