Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo create a basic 3D model in AutoCAD, draw a closed 2D outline, turn it into a solid with EXTRUDE or PRESSPULL, then use PRESSPULL on a face to cut a simple hole. Switch to the 3D Modeling workspace and an isometric view first. The steps below use a rectangle as an illustrative example; choose dimensions that suit your own drawing.
Start in the 3D Modeling workspace
AutoCAD’s 3D Modeling workspace groups the solid, surface, and mesh tools used for this workflow. If you are not already in it, switch to 3D Modeling. Autodesk’s EXTRUDE instructions also direct users to this workspace when needed. Tool placement can vary by AutoCAD release and platform, but the commands can be entered by name.
Draw a closed 2D profile
- Draw a simple planar outline, such as a rectangle or circle, using the usual 2D drawing tools.
- Make sure the outline is closed if you want a solid. Autodesk documents that PRESSPULL can turn a closed 2D object or bounded area into a solid, while an open object such as an arc can produce a surface instead. See Autodesk’s PRESSPULL guidance.
Create the solid with EXTRUDE or PRESSPULL
Both commands can turn a suitable profile into 3D geometry, but the interaction differs. Choose based on whether you want to specify a height for selected geometry or pull a profile interactively.
| Command | How to use it | Documented behavior |
|---|---|---|
| EXTRUDE | Run EXTRUDE, select the profile, and enter a height. |
Extrudes selected objects or edge subobjects. Whether the source geometry is retained depends on the DELOBJ setting. Autodesk EXTRUDE help |
| PRESSPULL | Run PRESSPULL, click inside the closed profile or bounded area, establish the direction, and enter a distance. |
Can create a solid from a closed profile or bounded area. An open 2D object can create a surface, and extrusion direction depends on the planar object and current UCS. Autodesk PRESSPULL help |
For a first model, for example, extrude a closed rectangle to a height you choose. This produces a simple solid block; the example does not prescribe drawing units or dimensions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Switch to an isometric view
Before editing the solid, change to an isometric view so you can see its top and sides. Autodesk recommends an isometric view for press or pull operations. The exact view controls vary across AutoCAD versions and platforms; use the view controls available in your installation.
Cut a hole with PRESSPULL
- Draw a closed shape, such as a circle, on the solid face where you want the hole.
- Run
PRESSPULLand click inside the bounded shape. - Push the shape toward the interior of the solid and enter a distance sufficient to cut through the part if you want a through-hole.
PRESSPULL can modify a solid face as well as create geometry from a profile. Its direction depends on the planar object and current UCS, so check the preview and direction before confirming.

Check whether the result is a solid
Inspect the model in the isometric view. If PRESSPULL produced a surface instead of a volume, check whether the profile was open; Autodesk documents that open objects can create surfaces. Return to the profile, close it, and repeat the operation when a solid is intended.

The relevant Autodesk help covers AutoCAD 2025/2026 PRESSPULL material and a 2020 EXTRUDE page. Command behavior described here is grounded in those pages, but ribbon locations and interface details can differ by release and platform.
