You can run a 24-hour electronic music stream on YouTube with a verified channel, a streaming encoder, a stable upload connection, and music rights that cover your exact use. The rights check comes first: YouTube can interrupt a technically sound stream if music is not cleared or the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Plan to monitor the broadcast, too; YouTube’s cited guidance automatically archives streams under 12 hours, but does not promise a complete archive of one uninterrupted 24-hour session.
1. Clear the music before you build the stream
A track being available to play, or included in a personal streaming subscription, does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it live on YouTube. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions say creators represent and warrant they have all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.
Check the scope of every license
Before scheduling a show, confirm directly with the relevant rights holders or licensors that the permission covers the specific tracks, territories, a continuous live YouTube broadcast, and any archive or replay use you intend to allow. Requirements depend on the catalog, rights owners, territories, and agreements; there is no single license assumption that can be made for every electronic music channel.
Confirm Content ID handling
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. For content you have licensed, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; it warns that a licensed stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. If a stream is archived, Content ID claims can also be made after it ends. Get the allowlisting process confirmed with the rights holder before going live.

2. Make the channel eligible for live streaming

Verify your YouTube channel if it is not already verified.

Check that the channel has had no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days; YouTube lists this as an eligibility requirement.

Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio before your intended launch. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until broadcast day.

3. Choose an encoder and prepare the broadcast
An encoder is software or hardware that prepares the audio and video feed for YouTube. YouTube does not require an expensive or dedicated computer; use a computer you already have if it can run your chosen encoder reliably, or consider hardware if it better suits your unattended setup. OBS is one software option YouTube documents, but neither OBS nor HLS ingestion is mandatory for an ordinary encoder workflow.
Create the live stream and connect its key

Open YouTube Studio, go to Live Control Room, and create or schedule a stream. Choose the title, description, visibility, and other stream details appropriate for your channel.

In the encoder, enter the stream URL/server URL and stream key shown by YouTube. Follow the encoder’s instructions for where those fields appear.

Keep the key private. YouTube describes the stream key as a password and address for your stream; anyone with access may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Live Control Room before the next stream.

Start the encoder and wait for YouTube’s preview and health indicators. Check that both audio and video are present and that the intended playlist or program is playing before using Live Control Room’s go-live workflow.

4. Check bandwidth, sound, and continuity
Leave upload headroom
Your available upload bandwidth must support the total stream bitrate. YouTube recommends having 20% more upload bandwidth than the bitrate you plan to stream at. Test from the actual streaming location and account for other devices and uploads sharing the connection; a speed-test result is not a guarantee that the connection will remain steady for a full day.
Run a preflight test

Confirm the encoder reports a stable connection and YouTube receives the feed.

Listen to the preview, checking volume, channel balance, clipping, silence, and transitions between tracks.

Check that the stream is accessible to the intended audience using its chosen visibility setting.

Test the setup before the public broadcast and make sure someone can check Live Control Room during operation.
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend testing and monitoring stream quality. A 24-hour schedule needs a realistic response plan for a network drop, encoder failure, power issue, or YouTube interruption; the platform does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast.

5. Understand what happens to a 24-hour archive
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that one uninterrupted 24-hour session will produce a complete recording. If a full replay matters, verify archive behavior and stream continuity in Live Control Room rather than promising viewers that the whole day will be available afterward. You may need to plan a shorter broadcast window or another recording workflow, subject to your rights and YouTube’s applicable limits.
