To create a 24/7 YouTube Live destination for relaxation music, prepare a rights-cleared audio-and-video program, connect it to YouTube through an encoder, and test the entire setup before relying on it. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders, but its guidance does not guarantee that a single live event can run indefinitely. Plan how your chosen setup will continue or restart the broadcast, and verify that behavior before promising uninterrupted service.
Choose how the stream will run
An encoder sends your prepared program to YouTube. A software encoder runs on a computer; a standalone hardware encoder can send video without requiring a computer for the streaming step. YouTube supports both approaches. Use software if you already have a suitable computer and want a flexible starting point. Consider dedicated hardware if an appliance-like setup better suits your workflow.
YouTube’s encoder directory lists the AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream capability for scheduled prerecorded media without a computer. Treat it as an optional equipment route, not a YouTube requirement. Whichever approach you choose, establish how prerecorded media loops or changes over, and test how the setup behaves if the encoder or connection stops.

For a computer-based setup, the computer and encoder must remain available while they are responsible for sending the stream. A cloud service is an alternative when you want the broadcast to continue without leaving a home computer on; see the cloud option below.

Check channel eligibility and prepare the program
Confirm that the channel can go live
YouTube’s current live-stream guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. Streamers must be at least 16 years old. YouTube says enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of your planned launch. Build and check the audio/video program
Prepare the finished music and visuals you intend the encoder to send. Listen for abrupt cuts at loop points, unintended silence, sudden volume changes, or other breaks that would be distracting in a relaxation stream. Check that visuals, overlays, title, and description accurately represent the program. YouTube’s general help does not prescribe a special relaxation-music playlist format or guarantee seamless looping; the loop behavior depends on your encoder or service, so test it there.

Decide whether you want one continuous program or a sequence of scheduled sessions. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, but that statement is not a promise that one event can run indefinitely. A 24/7 channel concept may therefore require a tested continuation or restart plan rather than reliance on a single event.
Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio: choose Create → Go Live. In Live Control Room, use the Stream workflow to create a stream or reuse previous settings. You can schedule a stream in advance; scheduling creates a watch page that you can share before it begins. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup guide for the current workflow.
- Set up the encoder: choose YouTube as the destination if your encoder offers it. Otherwise, copy the server or stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into the corresponding encoder fields. The key is password-like: do not share it publicly, and reset it if you think it has been exposed. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.
- Load the program: select the prepared audio/video source and configure the encoder to send it. If the stream needs to repeat prerecorded media, set up that behavior in the encoder or service and verify that it actually loops as expected.
- Check viewer-facing details: confirm the stream title, description, audience settings, and scheduled start time. Open the watch page and confirm that the intended viewers can access it.
- Start a test transmission: start sending from the encoder, then wait for the Live Control Room preview. Check both the picture and sound before starting the public event.
Test bandwidth, preview, and continuity
YouTube says the stream’s total bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. Check the actual upload connection while the encoder is sending at the intended settings; do not plan around a best-case speed reading alone. If you use a backup encoder contribution, account for that traffic when estimating the connection capacity required. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

- Watch the Live Control Room preview for picture, sound, and signs of an unstable feed.
- Listen at the beginning and across a loop point; confirm the music does not cut out or jump unexpectedly.
- Open the watch page on a phone or another device to verify viewer access and playback.
- Monitor audio and video during a test rather than assuming a successful encoder connection means the whole program is correct.
- Test what happens after a dropped connection, encoder restart, or scheduled-session ending. YouTube’s cited guidance does not specify a universal 24/7 restart design, so continuity depends on the encoder or service you select.
YouTube documents DVR, which lets viewers pause and rewind, along with auto-start and auto-stop settings. Decide whether those controls fit your use case in Live Control Room; they do not replace testing your encoder’s continuity behavior. The platform’s help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If you plan sessions longer than that, do not assume the same automatic archive behavior applies.
Clear music rights for live use
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide use of live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants. Review the actual permissions for both the musical composition and the sound recording. Confirm that they cover livestreaming in the territories where your stream may be viewed, and whether they also cover an archived replay. A “royalty-free” label or permission for on-demand videos does not by itself establish that every live and archive use is covered. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.

The channel cannot start a live stream
Check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction within the preceding 90 days. If this is its first livestream, activation may take up to 24 hours; enable it early rather than waiting until launch time.

The Live Control Room does not receive a feed
Confirm that the encoder is set to YouTube and that its server or stream URL and stream key match the values in Live Control Room. If you suspect the key was shared or exposed, reset it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder.
The preview stutters or drops
Compare the encoder’s total bitrate with the upload capacity available while the stream is running. YouTube recommends 20% headroom. Reduce the load or use a more reliable connection if the available capacity cannot sustain the configured stream; then repeat the test and monitor the preview.
The stream is live but the music or loop is wrong
Check the source selected in the encoder, listen through a complete loop transition, and verify the program file and playback settings. YouTube does not guarantee seamless looping for a particular encoder or media sequence.

The broadcast ends or fails to resume
Test the encoder’s restart and continuation behavior, including what happens after a connection interruption or a scheduled event ends. Do not assume YouTube will keep one event live indefinitely; adjust the encoder or service plan to match the continuity you need.
