To run recorded CAT preparation classes on YouTube around the clock, schedule a YouTube Live broadcast and send your lesson playlist through an encoder such as OBS. First verify the channel and enable live streaming, then test the stream key, playback order, audio, and archive plan before launch. You can run the encoder yourself or use StreamNeo to loop uploaded videos from the cloud without leaving a computer on.

What you need before launching

  • A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube says livestreamers must be at least 16, and a channel must have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
  • Recorded lessons you have the right to stream, plus an encoder or cloud service that can play them continuously.
  • A planned lesson sequence, a published schedule, and someone responsible for checking stream health, playback, and chat.

Prepare your CAT class library

Organize lessons into a deliberate sequence—such as Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning—with lesson titles and a visible timetable. Use clear transitions or an on-screen slate so a student joining midstream can tell what is playing and what comes next.

Before uploading or broadcasting, check rights for the recordings, slides, problem sets, music, graphics, and any other third-party material. YouTube’s Terms of Service, dated December 15, 2023, make the content provider responsible for material supplied to the service. Permission to use material is important, but it does not by itself guarantee that a channel will qualify for monetization.

Choose how to keep the stream running

DIY with OBS

YouTube lists OBS as free, open-source encoder software; a paid hardware encoder is not required for this route. This approach gives you control over the playlist and broadcast, but the computer running OBS, its playback, and its internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the connection process.

Optional dedicated hardware

YouTube’s encoder directory lists the AJA HELO Plus as a hardware option for scheduled prerecorded playout to YouTube Live without a computer. Consider dedicated hardware only if its operating and monitoring workflow suits your team; it is not a prerequisite for starting. See YouTube’s live encoder directory.

Set up and test the YouTube Live broadcast

  1. Enable live streaming early. In YouTube Studio, complete any channel verification or activation steps shown for livestreaming. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation, as YouTube says it may take that long.
  2. Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room, then create or schedule the broadcast. Set its title, description, audience, visibility, and start time carefully; choose public, unlisted, or private according to your intended audience and sharing plan.
  3. Connect the encoder. Copy the server URL and stream key provided by YouTube into the corresponding encoder fields. Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, publish it in a tutorial, or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover the setup.
  4. Build the playback sequence. Add the CAT lessons in the intended order and check that the playlist transitions correctly. Verify the preview, picture, sound, lesson titles, and event visibility before starting for viewers.
  5. Monitor the live session. Assign someone to watch stream health, the encoder’s internet connection, playback order, and chat. Keep the original lesson files so a disruption or missing archive does not leave you without the source material.

Plan the format and the archive

Horizontal or vertical video

YouTube currently describes both horizontal and vertical livestreams. Horizontal streams support clickable links in chat and the channel description, as well as live pre-roll and mid-roll ads. Vertical streams may be discoverable in the Shorts feed, but do not support those clickable links or live pre-roll and mid-roll ads. For CAT lessons that rely on a board, worked examples, or slides, check that text and diagrams remain legible before choosing a vertical crop or dual format. Details are in YouTube’s live-streaming help.

Full-day continuity and saved replays

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a single uninterrupted broadcast will produce a complete replay archive for a full day; plan operational segments and check the resulting videos in Studio. Keep the original lesson files and a clear schedule so viewers can find classes if an interruption or archive issue occurs. YouTube’s encoder guidance describes the archive limit.

Copyright, originality, and monetization

YouTube applies channel monetization policies to livestreams. It expects original, authentic content and says repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible. Its channel monetization policy states: “Be your original creation. If you borrow content from someone else, you need to change it significantly to make it your own.” The policy page labels its inauthentic-content clarification July 15, 2025. For a CAT channel, give each lesson a distinct teaching contribution and context rather than looping identical material simply to accumulate hours. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

YouTube’s current Partner Program help page lists an ad-revenue eligibility path of 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the preceding 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. Unlisted, deleted, or livestreams not converted to video on demand do not count toward the 4,000-hour threshold. Reaching a threshold triggers review; it is not automatic acceptance, and other account and policy requirements apply. Check YouTube’s Partner Program eligibility page for current terms because platform thresholds can change.

When a cloud service is a better fit

If you do not want a home or office computer to run the encoder continuously, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the material from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera feed.

Each slot includes one always-on stream, looping and playlists, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. Uploaded video streams as supplied, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no re-encode or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account; billing options are a day, a week, a month, six months, or a year, and you can cancel any time. UPI and cards are available in India, while card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support. See StreamNeo for details.

Or let it run in the cloud

  1. Upload your CAT class recording or build a playlist.
  2. Add your YouTube stream key.
  3. Go live.

Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.

Troubleshooting common launch problems

  • Live streaming is not available yet: complete the channel’s required verification or activation steps and allow up to 24 hours for first-time access. Check whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction from the preceding 90 days.
  • The encoder does not connect: confirm you copied the current server URL and stream key from the intended Live Control Room event into the matching encoder fields. If the key has been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
  • The preview has no sound or the wrong lesson: check the selected audio source, playback volume, playlist order, and the recording itself before making the event public.
  • The broadcast stops or the replay is incomplete: check the encoder or service connection and the lesson files. Use planned segments for full-day programming; YouTube’s automatic archive guarantee is for streams under 12 hours, not an assumption of a complete all-day archive.
  • Slides or board work are hard to read: review the actual preview on a phone and desktop, then adjust framing or use a horizontal presentation if a vertical crop obscures teaching details.
  • Monetization is refused despite having content permission: copyright permission and reused-content/originality review are separate. Review whether lessons show distinct, original teaching and check YouTube’s current monetization policies.
