Before you start, enable live streaming for your channel, clear the rights for every song and recording, and test the stream in YouTube Studio. A 24/7 broadcast needs active monitoring and a separate plan for archiving a full replay.
What you need before going live
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-streaming access can take up to 24 hours to activate, so enable it well before your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and its encoder setup guide.
- A continuous video-and-audio feed: either a live performance captured by an encoder or a playlist of prerecorded material.
- Permission to use every composition, arrangement, performance, and recording in that feed.
- A reliable upload connection sized for your chosen resolution and encoder settings, plus a way to monitor the stream.
Choose live performance or a prerecorded playlist
Live performance
Use an encoder to send the camera and audio feed to YouTube. This is the appropriate path if performers will sing or play live; a prerecorded-video service does not turn a camera performance into a live feed.
Prerecorded bhajan playlist
You can build a continuous program from recordings you have the rights to use. “Traditional,” “devotional,” or freely available online does not by itself establish that a particular arrangement or recording is cleared. Check rights for each track before adding it, including the sound recording as well as the underlying music.
Clear music rights and prepare for Content ID
YouTube’s terms make the creator responsible for securing necessary worldwide rights for live content, including music licensing rights. The status of an individual bhajan depends on the specific composition, arrangement, performance, recording, and applicable jurisdiction; do not assume that a song or recording is free to broadcast merely because it is religious or old. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and obtain permission from the relevant rights holders.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match may trigger a warning, replace the stream with a placeholder, or interrupt or terminate the broadcast. If you have a license, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube Help warns: “If your channel isn’t added to their allowlist, your live stream can be interrupted even if you’ve licensed the content.” Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Choose how to keep the feed running
Local computer and encoder
Run encoder software on a computer and keep both the computer and its internet connection available for the duration of the broadcast. YouTube lists OBS as free streaming software in its encoder setup information. This route gives you a locally managed feed, but a computer, encoder, power, and connection must remain available.

Cloud streaming
A cloud service can send a continuous playlist without requiring your home computer to stay on. YouTube’s encoder information also lists Gyre as an example of a cloud-based service for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. These are examples, not a YouTube endorsement; compare a service’s current terms, recovery behavior, supported formats, and cost directly. The available YouTube guidance does not establish which approach is cheaper or more reliable.
Create the YouTube stream and connect the feed
- Enable live streaming early. Verify the channel and check YouTube Studio for any restriction. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a live stream or schedule one, then choose the encoder workflow. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe creating the stream and connecting the encoder.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into your encoder. A stream key is a credential that lets the encoder send video to your channel. Keep it private; anyone with access may be able to send a feed to that stream.
- Set the encoder output. Choose a supported resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, and audio format suited to your source and connection. YouTube’s general encoder guidance includes RTMP/RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings for the exact settings for your codec and resolution.
- Preview before starting. Check that the image, bhajan audio, stream title, and watch page are correct. Test the page on a phone and a computer, then review stream health in Live Control Room.
- Monitor the live broadcast. Check stream health and audio/video quality during the broadcast. Arrange for someone to watch the feed and chat; a continuous stream should not be treated as unattended simply because it is designed to run all day.
Set bitrate and upload capacity for your quality
Bitrate depends on the codec, resolution, and frame rate; one figure is not right for every stream. For H.264 at 30 fps, YouTube recommends 6 Mbps for 720p and 10 Mbps for 1080p. Those are YouTube recommendations for those specific settings, not guarantees of a stable broadcast. See the encoder bitrate and resolution table.

Test the actual upload connection before launch. YouTube recommends about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the stream bitrate; if you use primary and backup ingestion, plan for both streams plus that margin. Its streaming tips also advise testing and monitoring stream health. Avoid selecting a bitrate that leaves no room for normal connection variation.
Plan monitoring, recovery, and the archive
Decide who will respond if the encoder disconnects, the internet drops, the audio fails, or YouTube flags a rights match. For a local setup, check power, network, and encoder status; for a cloud service, confirm its documented recovery process and how you will see that the feed has resumed. In either case, monitor YouTube Live Control Room rather than assuming the stream is still healthy.

YouTube’s encoder setup guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast exceeds that documented duration, so do not count on one complete automatic replay. If a full archive matters, make a separate recording or plan shorter broadcasts, and verify current archive behavior in Studio. See YouTube’s encoder guide.
