To survive plague encounters in Last Asylum Plague, counter the enemy faction first, identify whether the incoming hit is physical or energy damage, then build a two-tank frontline with damage dealers and support behind it. Armor protects against physical damage, boots protect against energy damage, and gauntlets provide all-damage resistance. Support heroes supply the documented ally healing, while Harper can briefly reduce damage to the ally with the lowest health. No reviewed game reference names a plague cleanse or immunity skill, so treat any claim about removing a plague status as unconfirmed until the current in-game tooltip identifies one.
The documented counter system at a glance
The official game description presents Last Asylum Plague as a mobile survival RPG in which you treat survivors, craft remedies, maintain a refuge and send heroes into territory overrun by sickness and the Rat Swarm. In combat, the reliable defenses are ordinary battle systems rather than a confirmed “anti-plague” item: faction advantage, damage-type resistance, formation, healing and timed mitigation.

These are the systems that can be tied to a published mechanic. If an effect is labeled “plague,” “infection” or another status in your battle UI, do not assume that a resistance item removes it merely because the effect also causes damage.

How the faction triangle reduces incoming damage
The clearest named counter in the combat rules is the three-way faction matchup. Each faction has one favorable matchup and one unfavorable matchup. The published advantage is 20% less damage taken from the countered faction.

Apply the triangle before changing individual equipment. A faction advantage affects incoming damage at the team-composition level, so it can protect several heroes at once. It is especially useful when a stage allows you to choose which faction to deploy. If a mode fixes your roster or faction, keep the matchup in mind when deciding whether to spend resources on resistance gear or extra healing.
Using the triangle in practice
- Read the enemy faction label in the stage or battle preparation screen.
- Choose the faction listed as its counter whenever the mode permits faction selection.
- Check the resulting formation for role coverage; do not replace both tanks or your only support solely to obtain a faction label.
- If the matchup is unfavorable or cannot be changed, compensate with the appropriate resistance slot and stronger sustain rather than assuming the fight is unwinnable.
The 20% figure is the published faction value. It should not be added to an armor or boot percentage as though all reductions were one universal stat; the game’s calculation order and stacking rules are not specified in the reviewed material.
Choose armor, boots or gauntlets from the damage readout
The combat guide separates incoming damage into physical and energy types and assigns each equipment slot a resistance role. The practical choice is therefore based on what the battle actually reports, not on the word “plague” alone.

A plague attack can still be physical or energy damage; “plague” is a theme or effect label, not a documented fourth resistance category. If a hit both damages a hero and applies a status, separate the two questions: the armor, boots or gauntlets choice addresses the damage classification, while a cleanse or immunity would have to be identified independently in a skill or item tooltip.

A simple equipment test
- Run the stage once while watching the battle log, floating damage labels or detailed combat panel.
- Record which type accounts for the largest repeated hits rather than reacting to one critical strike.
- Equip armor for a physical-dominant stage, boots for an energy-dominant stage, or gauntlets when both types are substantial.
- Replay the same encounter and compare the frontline hero’s health loss and the time until the first knockout.
- Keep the option that improves survival without removing a needed role from the formation.
The available references do not give comparative item values, upgrade costs or a formula for converting resistance into reduced damage. Use the displayed values on your current gear and treat the slot mapping above as the firm rule.
Build the formation that absorbs pressure
The combat structure described for the game uses two frontline positions and three back-row positions. The usual durable arrangement is two tanks in front, with damage dealers and support behind them. This setup gives the enemy a clear group of durable targets before it reaches lower-health backliners.
Front row: two tanks
Place the two heroes who can tolerate the most incoming damage in the front positions. Give them the resistance slot that matches the stage’s dominant damage type, or use gauntlets when the encounter mixes physical and energy attacks. The faction advantage is most valuable here because the tanks receive the first sustained pressure.
Back row: damage and support
Keep damage dealers in the back row so they can continue attacking while the tanks absorb pressure. Add at least one support hero when attrition, rather than a single burst, is causing defeats. The roster reference describes support as the only role with ally-healing skills and lists five support heroes, so a support slot is the documented route to team healing.

When the standard arrangement fails
- If a back-row hero is repeatedly the first knockout, inspect targeting rules and move the vulnerable hero only if the game permits a safer position; do not remove both frontliners to solve a single-target problem.
- If tanks survive but the team eventually collapses, increase healing or timed mitigation before adding more damage.
- If everyone loses health quickly, correct the faction and damage-type choices before chasing a small offensive upgrade.
The sources do not establish a special formation that makes the Rat Swarm harmless. The two-front, three-back arrangement is a durable starting structure, not a guarantee against every stage mechanic.
Use support healing and Harper’s Vitality Bubble
Support is the documented healing role. When a fight is lost because health declines steadily, a support hero can convert the same resistance investment into more time for the team to deal damage. Healing does not establish that a plague debuff has been removed; it restores or preserves health while the effect remains unless a tooltip explicitly says otherwise.
Harper’s timed protection
Harper’s Vitality Bubble targets the ally with the lowest health and reduces that ally’s damage received for four seconds. The base description gives an 8.2% reduction for four seconds, with stronger values at higher skill levels and star thresholds. Because the effect is short, it is best treated as a survival window rather than a permanent resistance increase.

- Watch which ally is about to become the lowest-health target; the skill is described as protecting that ally rather than a manually selected target.
- Use the four-second window to survive a concentrated attack, finish a dangerous enemy or allow a healer’s next action to land.
- Upgrade the skill or star level only after confirming that Harper’s current tooltip still shows the expected value in your game version.
Vitality Bubble is damage reduction. Nothing in the documented description says it cleanses, blocks application of, or grants immunity to a plague status.

A complete counter sequence for a plague stage
Follow this order whenever a stage feels like it is dealing “plague damage.” It keeps confirmed mechanics separate from assumptions about status effects.
- Identify the enemy faction. Record whether the opponents are Warriors, Rangers or Warlocks. If selection is available, deploy the counter faction: Warriors counter Warlocks, Rangers counter Warriors, and Warlocks counter Rangers.
- Read the incoming damage type. Use the battle readout, combat details or skill text to determine whether the repeated damage is physical, energy or mixed. Do not infer the type from the plague-themed name.
- Assign the resistance slot. Use armor against physical damage, boots against energy damage and gauntlets when broad all-damage resistance is more useful than specialization.
- Set the formation. Put two durable heroes in the front positions. Keep damage dealers and support in the three back positions unless the stage’s targeting rules clearly require another legal arrangement.
- Add sustain. Insert a support hero when health loss accumulates over time. Support is the role documented as having ally-healing skills.
- Time mitigation. If Harper is available, let Vitality Bubble cover the lowest-health ally during the most dangerous four-second interval. Its base value is 8.2% damage reduction, subject to higher values from upgrades and star thresholds.
- Separate damage from status. Inspect the effect icon or tooltip after the hit. Note whether it says only damage, damage plus a named debuff, damage over time or another condition.
- Search the current tooltips for a remedy. A cleanse or immunity should be named explicitly in a hero skill, item description or mode rule. If no such text appears, keep the status countermeasure unresolved instead of substituting armor, boots, healing or Vitality Bubble.
- Change one variable at a time. After the first attempt, alter the resistance slot, faction, support choice or timing separately so you can tell which change improved the result.
What is and is not known about plague status effects
The reviewed game references do not provide a named catalogue of plague statuses, a skill that cleanses them, or an immunity mechanic. That is an evidence limit, not proof that no such feature exists in a later patch or in an unreviewed hero description. The safe answer to “Which hero counters plague status effects?” is therefore: no specific counter hero is established by the available documentation.
How to verify a status in your own game
- Pause or open the combat details immediately after the icon appears.
- Read the exact effect name and duration, including whether it deals damage over time, lowers a stat, blocks healing or changes targeting.
- Open every candidate hero’s current skill tooltip and look for words such as cleanse, remove, dispel, immunity, resistance or prevention.
- Check equipment descriptions for the same explicit language. A general damage-resistance line is not a status-removal line.
- Test the effect in a controlled battle with one change at a time and note whether the icon disappears, its timer changes or only the damage amount changes.
If a future tooltip names a cleanse, follow that text and record its target, cooldown, duration and restrictions. Until then, describe healing as healing and damage reduction as mitigation; do not market either as a plague cure.
How to compare two anti-plague builds
When deciding between two teams, score both against the same five axes. This avoids choosing a build because it has one impressive statistic while ignoring the system that is actually causing the defeat.

If both builds share the same faction and resistance, prefer the one that keeps a tank alive through the opening sequence and gives support enough time to heal. If one build has the counter faction but no sustain and the other has healing, test both against the same stage rather than assuming the faction bonus alone decides the result.
Matchup playbooks
Against Warlocks
Choose Warriors when the mode allows faction selection, because Warriors take 20% less damage from Warlocks under the published triangle. Put the most durable Warriors in front, then identify whether the Warlock attacks are physical or energy before selecting armor or boots. Use gauntlets only when the encounter’s damage is genuinely mixed or broad resistance is more valuable for your current gear. Keep support behind the tanks if the stage applies repeated damage.
Against Warriors
Rangers are the documented counter and take 20% less damage from Warriors. The same equipment check still applies: the faction rule does not tell you whether the attack is physical or energy. A Ranger-led formation can therefore use armor, boots or gauntlets according to the readout, with two front positions occupied by the heroes best able to withstand the first wave.

Against Rangers
Warlocks counter Rangers and receive the published 20% reduction in damage taken. Preserve the two-tank structure if possible, because the faction advantage does not replace frontline durability. If the enemy’s attacks are energy-based, boots are the documented specialized choice; if physical, use armor; if both matter, evaluate gauntlets.
When the stage is labeled plague but no faction is shown
Do not invent a plague faction. Start with the damage readout, then use the standard formation and support checks. A plague label by itself does not identify a fourth faction, a resistance category or a status cure.
Common mistakes and fixes
- Assuming every plague hit needs the same gear: classify the damage as physical, energy or mixed before changing equipment.
- Calling Vitality Bubble a cleanse: it is documented as four seconds of damage reduction for the lowest-health ally, with a base value of 8.2%.
- Using a damage dealer in both frontline slots: restore two durable front positions so support and damage dealers can operate from the back.
- Ignoring faction advantage: check the triangle before spending resources on a replacement hero or a large gear upgrade.
- Assuming healing removes the icon: healing addresses health loss; only an explicit cleanse or immunity description establishes status control.
- Relying on an old tooltip: compare your current in-game text with published values before treating a percentage or roster role as unchanged.
Version and availability caveat
The community tables cited for these mechanics use game version 1.0.87 data. The hero index was verified on 31 August 2026 and edited on 2 September 2026. Later patches can change skill values, faction rules or roster availability, so check the current in-game tooltip before making an exact percentage claim. The official site identifies the game as a mobile title and links it to Google Play and the App Store; menu names and battle-readout locations can differ slightly between platform builds.
