To counter Huss Valley Chasers, stop following the Runner’s current position and start intercepting the destination. Bear Trap and Bowling Ball punish predictable routes; Rocket Shoes punishes a mistimed dodge; Big Dagger and Rufus’s Leash become dangerous only when the Chaser can maintain close spacing. Your objective is to deny the setup, preserve an escape lane, and survive the follow-up hit rather than assuming an ability guarantees a catch.
This guide covers the five Chaser abilities currently listed for Huss Valley Official (Roblox place 107535308163741), with PC and mobile controls, reported shop prices, practical evasions, team positioning, and the limits of what has been measured.
What the current ability list tells you
Huss Valley is a Roblox tag-and-chase experience in which Runners cross the map while Chasers pursue and convert them. A downed Runner may still have a rescue opportunity. The timing of a catch, rescue loss, and conversion has not been independently tested, so treat the advice below as practical counterplay rather than a promise of an automatic escape.

The prices come from the HussValleyCodes.org ability database as reported in 2026 and may change with a shop update. Price should be a secondary consideration: the same counter principles apply whether an ability is free or expensive.
Controls and the universal interception routine
Check the control prompt before relying on muscle memory
On the reviewed PC HUD, the mouse attack and Space catch/dive actions are separate. On mobile, the corresponding buttons are labeled MELEE and CATCH. Ability activation is reported as Q on PC or the ability card on mobile. The live HUD takes priority if an update changes a label or binding.
Use the destination line, not the Runner’s current position
- Identify the likely destination. Look for the crossing point, finish approach, open lane, or rescue area the Runner is trying to reach.
- Cut toward that point. Moving directly behind the Runner reproduces their route and gives route-based abilities an easy prediction. A diagonal intercept shortens the distance you must cover.
- Wait for the turn. If the Runner changes direction, adjust your intercept rather than committing to the old line. The practical rule from the Chaser guide is: “Move toward where the Runner is going, then adjust when they turn.”
- Preserve one correction lane. Do not run so close to a wall, boundary, or obstacle that a last-second reversal leaves you with nowhere to go.
- Use the catch action only after closing the gap. An ability creates an opening; the melee or catch follow-up still has to connect.
Two-Chaser coverage
When two Chasers are active, cover different plausible lanes. Following the same route leaves an entire side of the crossing unguarded and lets one direction change defeat both players. Near the finish, one Chaser can guard the approach lane while the other watches for a lane switch. If the Runner reaches an edge, approach from open ground and allow for a reversal; a boundary restricts options but is not a guaranteed trap.

How to counter Bear Trap
What Bear Trap does
Bear Trap throws a trap ahead of the Chaser and briefly holds the first Runner who steps on it. It is listed as the free Chaser default. A Runner can avoid the placement, and placing the trap does not itself produce a catch.
Runner response
- Break the obvious crossing line. The moment you see the placement, stop treating the most direct lane as mandatory. Shift to an alternate lane before your feet reach the trap’s likely position.
- Check the approach, not just the trap. A Chaser may place the trap to make you turn into a melee range. Keep an exit angle while changing direction; do not trade a visible trap for a dead-end corner.
- Use a temporary obstacle only with a second exit. A Pocket Door or another obstruction can interrupt the Chaser’s follow-up in a narrow approach. Place it so you can continue moving around it rather than stopping in front of the Chaser.
- Force the Chaser to commit. Once the trap is bypassed, change your timing or lane again if the Chaser keeps mirroring you. The value of Bear Trap falls sharply when your next step is not predictable.
Common Bear Trap mistakes
- Running straight through a familiar choke point after seeing the trap land.
- Stopping in front of the Chaser and waiting for the trap to expire.
- Turning into a wall without checking whether the Chaser can take the shorter side.
How to counter Bowling Ball
What Bowling Ball does
Bowling Ball rolls a projectile along a predicted route and can trip a Runner. The Runner can change direction before the ball arrives. The 2026 guide snapshot lists a price of 600 Gems, but that amount is not guaranteed to remain current.

Runner response
- Read the release. The ball is most useful when your current lane is obvious. Watch the Chaser’s release and estimate which line was targeted.
- Turn before the projectile reaches the line. A shallow cut across the lane is usually safer than a panic reversal directly toward the Chaser. Change early enough that the ball cannot simply track your correction.
- Vary both lane and timing. Alternating left-right routes at the same rhythm still gives the Chaser a pattern. Delay a crossing, then accelerate through a safe opening when possible.
- Separate from teammates. If another Runner is nearby, split into different lanes. One projectile should not be allowed to cover both of you.
Where Bowling Ball is strongest
Long, straight crossings and repeated approaches make the projectile easier to pre-aim. Use cover, corners, or staggered movement to deny a clean line. Do not assume a successful dodge means the Chaser is harmless; the release can be followed by a direct pursuit while you are still correcting your path.
How to dodge Rocket Shoes
What Rocket Shoes does
Rocket Shoes gives the Chaser a burst of movement, described in the current guides as a directional dash. A poorly aimed burst can carry the Chaser away from the Runner. It is not established as a permanent movement-speed multiplier. The 2026 guide snapshot lists 1,300 Gems.

- Keep lateral room. Before the burst, stay where you can move across the Chaser’s line rather than only backward. A wall directly behind you removes the correction option you need.
- Do not dodge early. If you turn before the Chaser chooses a direction, you may move into the selected line. Hold your route long enough to read the commitment.
- Sidestep across the burst. Once Rocket Shoes starts, move laterally or cut diagonally across its path. The goal is to make the Chaser pass beside you, not to outrun the burst in a straight line.
- Continue toward a safe route. After the pass, avoid ending against a boundary. A Chaser who misses can recover if your evasive turn leaves you with no second direction.
Why panic turns fail
Rocket Shoes rewards a Runner who reacts to the chosen direction, not the possibility of a dash. A premature dodge gives the Chaser information and may place you exactly where the burst is aimed. A late, controlled sidestep preserves the Chaser’s correction problem.
How to survive Big Dagger
What Big Dagger does
Big Dagger temporarily extends knife reach. The guide reports a five-second effect window, while normal melee reach has not been measured. Extra reach does not close a large gap. The 2026 guide snapshot lists 1,125 Gems.
Runner response
- Create distance immediately. Treat activation as a close-range danger window and stop trying to win a face-to-face exchange.
- Use an angle or corner. A corner, temporary obstacle, or sharp change of direction can break the approach and force the Chaser to spend time repositioning.
- Do not contest the marginal swing. If you are barely outside ordinary melee reach, assume the extended hit can connect and keep moving instead of testing the edge.
- Spend a shield for the crossing moment. One Hit Shield can block the next hit during its brief window. Use it to pass through a dangerous gap, then continue moving; it is not protection for an entire crossing.
What Big Dagger cannot do
The reported extension does not make the Chaser dangerous at every distance. If you preserve a substantial gap before activation, the Chaser still has to close it. Your counter is therefore spacing and route choice, not a precise promise about an unmeasured hitbox.

What beats Rufus’s Leash?
What Rufus’s Leash does
Rufus’s Leash pulls a Runner toward the Chaser. One 2026 guide reports a pull of up to six studs, but that distance has not been independently measured. The pull itself is distinct from melee reach and does not guarantee a catch. The 2026 guide snapshot lists 1,625 Gems.

- Maintain a buffer. Stay far enough away that a pull does not place you directly inside follow-up melee range. Standing still on a straight approach gives the ability its best outcome.
- Keep moving across the line. A lateral route or angled approach is harder to convert into a clean pull-plus-hit sequence than a stationary, direct line.
- React to the telegraph. If the pull is visibly committed, trigger a defensive window such as One Hit Shield or move toward an obstacle angle that lets you escape after displacement.
- Survive the second action. The critical danger is what the Chaser does after the pull. Reserve your escape tool for the follow-up rather than assuming the displacement itself is the damaging hit.
Spacing errors to avoid
- Hovering just outside normal knife range and assuming that distance is safe.
- Running in a straight line toward a narrow opening where the pull can align the Chaser’s next swing.
- Using a defensive ability before the Chaser has committed, then having nothing for the follow-up.
Runner tools that answer Chaser abilities
Pocket Door
Pocket Door places a temporary obstacle in the Chaser’s path. Use it in a narrow approach to break a pursuit line, then keep moving. A Chaser with open room can go around, so the door buys a route change rather than permanent safety.
Cloak
Cloak briefly hides your character. Change direction while hidden so the Chaser cannot simply continue along your last visible line. Cloak users can still be hit, so do not remain in the same lane or treat invisibility as immunity.
Inflatable Decoy
Inflatable Decoy sends a copy straight ahead. Send the copy down one route and take another. Following immediately behind your own decoy makes the deception easier to spot because both targets share the same line.
Emergency Airhorn
Emergency Airhorn pushes nearby Chasers backward with a short-range blast. Save it until the Chaser is close enough for the push to create real separation; using it at long range wastes the only moment when displacement matters.

One Hit Shield
One Hit Shield blocks the next hit during a brief window. Activate it for a specific danger moment: Big Dagger’s close approach, Rufus’s Leash follow-up, or a finish-line crossing. It is a timing tool, not permanent protection.

Route prediction: Bear Trap and Bowling Ball
These abilities are strongest when the Runner repeats a visible line. Break the pattern before activation lands, use different lanes with teammates, and make the Chaser guess which crossing point you will occupy.
Directional commitment: Rocket Shoes
Rocket Shoes creates a gap only along the direction the Chaser selects. Keep a lateral escape lane, wait for the direction, and cross the burst rather than backing into it.
Reach extension: Big Dagger
Big Dagger depends on the Chaser already being close. Deny that starting distance, then use an obstacle or angle to prevent the extended reach from becoming a follow-up hit.
Displacement plus follow-up: Rufus’s Leash
Rufus’s Leash is a two-part threat. The pull matters because it can set up melee range; surviving the second action is the real counter objective. Keep a buffer and reserve a defensive tool for that sequence.

Practical scenarios
You see a trap at the only obvious crossing
Do not freeze in front of it. Check whether an alternate lane preserves an exit, take that lane, and watch whether the Chaser abandons the trap to pursue. If every route appears blocked, use a temporary obstacle while continuing through the opening it creates.
A Bowling Ball is released during a team crossing
Call or signal a split immediately. One Runner should cut across the predicted line while the other changes timing or uses cover. Two players on the same straight route let one projectile solve the Chaser’s entire problem.
Rocket Shoes activates near a wall
Move across the burst toward open ground if there is room. If the wall removes that option, use a defensive window before the Chaser reaches you and turn toward the widest available lane rather than attempting a blind backpedal.
Big Dagger activates at the finish
Do not contest the last swing because the finish is close. Break the approach with an angle, obstacle, or One Hit Shield, then complete the crossing after the Chaser’s extended window is no longer aligned with you.
Rufus’s Leash pulls you into danger
Assume the follow-up is coming. Trigger your defensive response, move away from the Chaser’s next likely line, and avoid stopping to reorient in the spot where the pull ended.
What has not been established
The available guides do not publish a laboratory-tested base knife range, ability hitboxes, server-latency measurements, guaranteed combo timings, universal cooldowns, damage table, or win-rate data. Do not rely on exact dodge frames or promise that one counter works on every server. Test the live HUD and current shop after updates.
A separate fan wiki mentions Size Shift and Clone Replicator, but the current ability database reviewed for this guide lists five Chaser abilities and does not include those names. Their live status is unresolved, so this guide does not assign them counters.

- Watch the route, not just the Runner; intercept the destination.
- After every turn, recalculate the crossing point.
- Keep at least one escape direction away from walls and edges.
- Change lanes and timing against Bear Trap and Bowling Ball.
- Wait for Rocket Shoes to commit, then sidestep across its line.
- Create distance during Big Dagger’s reported five-second window.
- Against Rufus’s Leash, preserve spacing and survive the follow-up hit.
- Use Pocket Door, Cloak, Decoy, Airhorn, and One Hit Shield for specific moments, not as permanent immunity.
- After an ability misses, expect the Chaser to pursue normally and keep moving.
- Follow the current PC or mobile prompt if an update changes controls.
The Bottom Line
The reliable Huss Valley counter is a repeatable habit: predict the destination, deny the Chaser’s setup, keep a correction lane, and force every ability to require a second action. Route tools fail when your path is variable, directional bursts fail when you sidestep after commitment, and close-range tools fail when you never give the Chaser the spacing they need.
