Choose the option that matches your need: correction of an existing entry, shifting to a new address, replacement of an EPIC, or marking your record as a person with disability (PwD). The supporting documents depend on the option you select.
Choose the right Form 8 option
Form 8 is for registered electors who need to update an existing record. It covers four distinct requests; select the one that matches what you need changed.

The ECI describes Form 8 as an application for a registered elector seeking residence shifting, correction of entries, a replacement EPIC, or PwD marking. See the ECI Citizen Service Portal and the Form 8 application.
Correct a detail in your existing record
On Form 8, choose “Correction of Entries in Existing Electoral Roll.” You can request corrections to a maximum of four particulars in one application. The form lists name, gender, date of birth or age, relation type, relation name, address, mobile number, and photograph. Attach self-attested documentary proof for the claim and identify the supporting document in the form. The proof should support the particular detail you are asking to correct; the address-proof examples for a move are a separate requirement.

If the photograph is wrong
For a photo correction, ECI guidance specifies a recent, good-quality, unsigned colour passport-size photograph with a white background, measuring 4.5 × 3.5 cm. Follow the photo instructions in the Form 8 PDF and its filling guidelines.
Update your address after moving
Choose Form 8’s “Shifting of Residence” option rather than treating a move as an ordinary correction. Apply to the ERO for the constituency where your new address is located. ECI guidance says a shifting application can be submitted online or offline to the relevant ERO; the ECI portal provides the online Form 8 service.
Attach self-attested proof of the new address. Form 8 lists examples such as an eligible utility bill, Aadhaar, a current scheduled or nationalized bank or post-office passbook, an Indian passport, revenue land-ownership records, a registered rent lease for a tenant, or a registered sale deed for an owner. The form also allows the qualifying proof to be in the applicant’s name or, in the circumstances it specifies, a parent’s or spouse’s name; it also refers to an adult child already enrolled at that address. If the listed documents are unavailable, the form allows another document as specified. Check the current form for the applicable details and submit evidence that supports your new address.
Submit Form 8 online or offline
- Open the ECI Citizen Service Portal and sign in or register as needed.
- Open the Form 8 service, choose the option for your request, and enter the details requested. For an address move, select shifting of residence and provide the new address.
- Attach the required self-attested proof for the selected option. If applying offline, submit the completed form and documents to the relevant ERO.
- Submit the application and keep its acknowledgement or reference details.
- Use the portal’s application-status tracking service to check progress. The portal also provides electoral-roll services.
Portal labels and available services can change. Follow any active notice shown for your area; a general guide does not override an election-specific instruction.
Is Aadhaar compulsory?
No. Form 8 includes an option to declare that you cannot furnish Aadhaar because you do not have it. Select that declaration if it applies to you; do not treat Aadhaar as compulsory for this application. The form and its instructions are available in the ECI Form 8 PDF.

Updating the electoral-roll entry and obtaining a replacement physical EPIC are not the same request. Form 8 provides a separate replacement-EPIC option. For a lost EPIC, attach a copy of the FIR or police report; for a mutilated card, return the old EPIC as instructed. ECI guidance says a replacement EPIC may be issued after a correction or an approved shift, but use the replacement option when the card itself is lost or damaged. Check your application and find the right ERO
Use the ECI portal’s application-status service with the acknowledgement or reference details you kept. For an offline submission or help identifying the ERO for a constituency in Karnataka, consult the official portal or the relevant Chief Electoral Officer contact listing. The applicable ERO for a shifting request is the one for the constituency at the new address; do not assume an officer for your old address handles it.
The cited ECI guidance does not establish a Karnataka-specific processing time or guarantee an outcome by a particular date. Check status through the official service rather than relying on an estimated completion period.
