Windows 10 has no one-click HTML-to-JPG converter in Microsoft Edge. To create a JPG, open the HTML so the browser renders it, then capture the rendered pixels. For a visible page, Windows’ Snipping Tool is the fastest built-in method. For a long, scrolling page, use a browser extension with full-page capture or an automated screenshot service.
What “HTML to JPG” actually means
HTML is a markup document. A JPG is a bitmap image. Conversion therefore means rendering the HTML with a browser engine, waiting for the layout and assets to appear, and saving an image of that rendered result. Renaming page.html to page.jpg does not convert anything; it only changes the filename extension, while the file contents remain HTML.
The image records the viewport, zoom level, fonts, colors, images and dynamic state visible at capture time. A responsive page can produce different JPGs at different window widths, so set the browser size before capturing.
Method 1: Save a visible HTML page with Snipping Tool
This built-in Windows 10 workflow needs no installation and is best for a browser window or a section that fits on screen.

- Open the file or URL. In Edge, press
Ctrl + Oto open a local HTML file, or navigate to the webpage. Wait for images, web fonts and interactive content to finish loading. - Set the appearance. Adjust the Edge zoom with
Ctrl + +orCtrl + -. Resize the browser if the page is responsive. Close overlays you do not want in the image. - Start Snipping Tool. Press
Windows + Shift + S. Windows displays capture modes for Rectangle, Window, Full-screen and Freeform. - Choose a mode. Select Window and click the Edge window for the complete visible browser window, or select Rectangle and drag around only the rendered page. Full-screen captures every monitor display area included by Windows; Freeform lets you draw an irregular region.
- Save the capture. Click the notification preview to open the snip, then choose Save Snip or press
Ctrl + S. Select a folder, enter a filename and choose JPEG file or JPG in the file-type list.
Snipping Tool captures only what is currently visible in the selected region. It does not document an automatic scrolling capture in the Windows 10 instructions, so a page taller than the viewport requires the full-page option described below.
Method 2: Use Print Screen and Paint
Print Screen gives you a second built-in route and makes cropping straightforward.
- Bring the rendered HTML page to the front.
- Press
PrtScnto copy the full screen, or pressAlt + PrtScnto copy only the active Edge window. - Open Paint from the Start menu and press
Ctrl + V. - Use Paint’s Select and Crop controls to remove browser chrome or other areas.
- Choose File > Save as > JPEG picture, select a destination and save.
This method is useful when you want to edit the capture before export. It still represents a screen-sized, visible capture rather than the entire scrollable document.
How to capture an entire scrolling HTML page
A long page cannot be represented by a single ordinary Snipping Tool rectangle. Use a tool that explicitly supports full-page or scrolling capture.

Edge extension option
The Microsoft Edge Add-ons listing for PageSaver advertises “Save webpage as image (PNG, JPG, GIF, ICO)” and “Screenshot entire webpage (including scrollable content).” Install it only after checking its current permissions, privacy policy, pricing and support. Browser extensions can access page content, so avoid installing one you cannot trust, especially for private dashboards or documents.
- Install the extension from the official Edge Add-ons store.
- Open the HTML page and allow all images, fonts and lazy-loaded sections to appear.
- Open the extension and choose its full-page or scrolling capture command.
- Select JPG if the extension offers an output-format choice, then save the resulting file.
Full-page tools may stitch multiple viewport captures. Fixed headers, animations, carousels and lazy-loaded images can therefore create seams, repeated elements or missing content. Freeze animations where possible and scroll through the page once before capturing.
When Edge printing helps—and when it does not
Press Ctrl + P, or open Settings and more > Print, when you need a print-oriented layout. In More settings, enable Background graphics if the preview omits page colors or background images. This setting controls print output; it does not itself create a JPG.
Printing commonly produces paper-sized pages or a PDF with reflowed margins, so it is not pixel-for-pixel equivalent to a browser screenshot. If you print to PDF first, you still need a subsequent screenshot or image-conversion step to obtain JPG. Use printing when pagination and paper dimensions matter; use a screenshot when the displayed pixels matter.

Prepare the page for a faithful JPG
- Wait for network content: confirm that images, fonts, charts and client-side data have loaded.
- Control the viewport: set the browser width and zoom before capture; responsive breakpoints can change navigation, columns and text wrapping.
- Handle lazy loading: scroll through a long page before a full-page capture so images are requested.
- Remove obstructions: dismiss cookie dialogs, newsletter prompts and chat bubbles if they are not part of the intended design.
- Stop motion: pause videos and animations, or capture at a consistent moment.
- Check text scale: browser zoom changes the bitmap dimensions and apparent sharpness. For documentation, record the zoom and viewport used.
- Respect access controls: do not capture pages you are not authorized to view, and review extension permissions before granting access.

The JPG is blank or mostly white
Wait for the page’s scripts and network requests to finish, reload, and capture after the content appears. A protected page may show a bot check instead of the document; use an authorized session and do not attempt to bypass the challenge.
Images or fonts are missing
Check your connection and open the browser developer tools to identify failed requests. Scroll through lazy-loaded content, disable aggressive blocking for the page and wait for web fonts before capturing.

Sticky headers and animation are common causes. Temporarily disable sticky positioning or motion in a test copy, pause carousels and use a full-page tool that handles fixed elements correctly.
The output has no background colors
For a print workflow, open Edge’s print preview, expand More settings and enable Background graphics. For a screenshot, make sure the browser has finished applying the page’s CSS and that you selected the page rather than a print preview.

The JPG looks blurry
Capture at the required viewport size, avoid enlarging a small snip and use a higher device scale or retina setting when your capture tool provides one. JPG compression can soften text; use PNG when lossless text clarity is more important.
The saved file will not open as an image
Confirm that the save dialog’s file type is JPEG/JPG and that the file was not merely renamed. If an automated response is unexpected, inspect its HTTP status and content type before writing bytes to disk.
FAQ
Can I convert a private local HTML file with an online service?
Only upload or send a file to a service when its privacy terms and your authorization permit it. Snipping Tool and Paint keep the capture on your Windows computer; a URL-based API generally needs a reachable URL.
Should I use JPG or PNG?
JPG is smaller and suits photographic or colorful page captures. PNG preserves sharp text and flat UI edges better, so choose PNG when compression artifacts would be distracting.
Why does my screenshot differ from the browser preview?
The viewport, zoom, device scale, loaded state, media-query breakpoint or dynamic content changed between preview and capture. Fix those variables and capture again.
Can printing alone create a JPG?
No. Edge printing creates a print preview or print destination such as PDF. You need a separate screenshot or image-conversion step for JPG.
