The reliable method is to open and render the HTML in Brave, capture the visible page or a full-size screenshot, then export that image as JPEG/JPG in an image editor. Use printing only when you actually want a paginated document or PDF.
Choose the right result before converting
An HTML document is a set of markup, styles, scripts and assets. Brave renders those parts into a visual page; JPG is a raster image. Conversion therefore has two stages: rendering in the browser and encoding the rendered pixels as JPEG.
| Goal | Best Brave workflow | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Image of the page as it appears on screen | Capture a screenshot, then export as JPG | Preserves screen layout, colors and visible browser rendering |
| One image containing a long page | DevTools Device Mode → Capture a full size screenshot, then export as JPG | Includes content below the viewport; very tall pages can create large files |
| Printable pages or an archival document | Brave Print → save as PDF | Uses print layout, pagination and possible reflow; it is not a JPG export |
Do not merely rename page.png to page.jpg. The extension changes the filename, not the image encoding.
Open the HTML document in Brave
- For a local file, open Brave and press Ctrl+O on Windows/Linux or Command+O on macOS.
- Select the
.htmlfile. You can also open its localfile://URL if your operating system offers that option. - Wait for fonts, images, asynchronous content and animations to finish. If the page changes after loading, wait until it reaches the state you want to capture.
- Check the rendered result at the intended viewport width. Responsive HTML may produce a different design on a narrow window than on a maximized one.
When local assets do not appear
A document that references relative files such as css/site.css or images/logo.svg must be opened with its supporting folders in the expected locations. If scripts fetch data from a server, browser security rules, authentication or an unavailable endpoint may prevent the page from rendering exactly as it does online. Fix those dependencies before taking the screenshot.

Capture only the visible portion
For a quick image of what is currently visible, use your operating system’s screenshot tool and select the Brave window or a rectangular region. This is appropriate for a hero section, a form, a chart or a short document. It will not include content below the viewport unless you capture multiple regions and combine them.
After capturing, open the resulting PNG or other image in an editor such as the one already installed on your computer. Choose Export or Save As, select JPEG/JPG, set a quality level, and save a new file. Keep the original lossless capture if you may need to make another export.
Capture a complete page with Brave DevTools
For a page longer than the viewport, Chromium-based DevTools provides a full-size screenshot command. Brave’s exact labels can differ by release, but the workflow is generally:
- Open Developer Tools with Ctrl+Shift+J or F12 on Windows/Linux. On macOS, use the equivalent DevTools shortcut shown in Brave’s current shortcut list, or open DevTools from Brave’s menu.
- Enable Device Mode by selecting the phone/tablet icon in the DevTools toolbar (or its keyboard toggle).
- Set the desired device preset or enter a custom width and height. A wider viewport can prevent mobile reflow; a narrower one can intentionally capture the mobile layout.
- Open the Device Mode More options menu (the three-dot menu in the device toolbar).
- Choose Capture a full size screenshot. The browser creates an image containing content beyond the visible viewport.
- Open the downloaded capture in an image editor and export it as JPEG/JPG.
The “full size” command captures the rendered page, not the browser chrome. Fixed headers, lazy-loaded sections and sticky elements can affect the result. Scroll through the page once first if images or sections load only when they approach the viewport.

When full-page capture is the wrong choice
- Print-oriented reports: use Print to create a PDF so page breaks, margins and paper size are controlled.
- Extremely tall pages: split the page into sections or use PDF; one giant raster image may exceed editor or viewer limits.
- Interactive states: set tabs, menus, consent choices and form values before capture. A screenshot records one state, not the underlying interaction.
Use Brave’s print route when a PDF is preferable
Open Menu > Print or File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux and Command+P on macOS. Select a print destination and adjust paper size, orientation, scale, margins, background graphics and page ranges as needed. Brave documents this as a printing workflow; it does not document a direct JPG destination.

If you need a JPG after printing, save a PDF first, rasterize the required PDF page in an image editor, and export it as JPEG. Expect a different result from a screen screenshot: print CSS can hide navigation, change colors, reflow columns or paginate content.
Should you install a screenshot extension?
Brave says it supports nearly all extensions compatible with Chromium. An extension can add scrolling capture, format controls or annotation, but it receives whatever permissions its installation screen requests. Review the extension’s data and permissions notice before installing it, and avoid granting broad access when the built-in DevTools capture is sufficient. Availability and labels can change, so treat a community report of a full-page screenshot option in Brave Leo 1.79.118 as a dated report rather than a current feature guarantee.
JPG export settings that preserve quality
Choose dimensions first
Decide whether the image is for a website, a document, social media or inspection. Keep the capture at the required pixel dimensions; enlarging a small screenshot later cannot restore detail. For retina-style output, capture at a higher device scale and resize down once.
Set JPEG quality deliberately
JPEG is lossy. A high quality setting retains text and UI edges better but creates a larger file; a lower setting saves space at the cost of ringing and block artifacts. If the page contains tiny text, compare the exported JPG at 100% zoom before deleting the original PNG.

Know what JPEG cannot preserve
- Transparency becomes a solid background color.
- Sharp text and line art may show compression artifacts.
- Metadata, selectable text, links and accessibility semantics are not retained.
Troubleshooting Brave HTML-to-JPG conversions
The page is blank or incomplete
Confirm that the file opens directly and that CSS, images and scripts use valid relative paths. Open DevTools and check the Console and Network panels for failed requests. For a local page that depends on a server, run that server and open its HTTP address instead of the file:// URL.
Images are missing in the full-size capture
Scroll through the page to trigger lazy loading, wait for images to finish, then capture again. Verify that an image’s URL is reachable and that authentication or hotlink protection is not blocking it.
The capture includes only the viewport
Use Device Mode’s Capture a full size screenshot, not the operating system’s region capture. If the command is unavailable, update Brave or use a carefully reviewed Chromium-compatible extension; controls can vary by Brave release.

The output looks like print layout instead of the screen
You probably used Print or converted a PDF. Repeat the process with a screenshot if you need the rendered screen appearance. Conversely, use Print when pagination and paper dimensions matter more than a single continuous image.

Text is blurry after export
Capture at the final or a higher resolution, avoid repeated resaves, and use a high JPEG quality. For documents dominated by text, retain PNG or PDF when the recipient accepts those formats.
The JPG file is enormous
Full-page captures can be extremely tall. Reduce unnecessary viewport width, crop unused whitespace, export at a practical quality, or split the page into logical images. Do not reduce dimensions until you have checked that important text remains readable.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It is useful when the same conversion must run in a script, CI job or AI workflow rather than by hand in Brave. A single request renders a URL and returns PNG, JPEG/WebP or PDF. Before capture it accepts cookie and consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Brave save an HTML file directly as a JPG?
No direct HTML-to-JPG export is documented. Render the file, capture it, and export the captured image as JPEG.
Will a screenshot preserve links and selectable text?
No. A JPG contains pixels only; links, text selection and accessibility structure are lost.
Why does my screenshot differ from the printed PDF?
Screen capture uses the browser’s rendered layout, while printing applies print styles, pagination, paper settings and possible reflow.
What format is best for a text-heavy HTML page?
PNG or PDF usually keeps text edges cleaner. Use JPG when compatibility or smaller photographic output is the priority.
