On a computer, open the invoice in Chrome, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux (or Command+P on Mac), choose Save as PDF, check the preview, and save. On Android, use More > Share > Print, then select Save as PDF. If the invoice is an e-invoice in an IRP portal, use that portal’s PDF-generation option when you need its issued representation.
Save the invoice webpage as a PDF in Chrome on a computer
- Open the invoice webpage and wait for it to load. Sign in first if the issuing site requires it.
- Press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. You can also open Chrome’s Print command. Google documents these shortcuts in its Chrome computer printing instructions.
- In the destination or printer selector, choose Save as PDF.
- Review the preview, page range, paper size, orientation, margins, scale, and headers or footers. Available controls can vary by platform; adjust them if they cut off invoice content or add unwanted material.
- Save the file with a recognizable name, such as the invoice number and date. Open the saved PDF to confirm the pages and details are present.
Save a webpage as PDF in Chrome on Android
- Open the invoice page in Chrome.
- Tap More > Share > Print.
- Open the printer selector and choose Save as PDF.
- Choose a device save location and save the file.

Use the IRP’s PDF option for an e-invoice record
If the invoice is available through an Invoice Registration Portal (IRP), use its own print or PDF-generation workflow when you want the portal-generated representation, rather than only a browser rendering. IRIS IRP’s help says to initiate Print for the selected record, wait for PDF generation to succeed, and then download the file. Its help and FAQ describe locating e-invoices through the dashboard with an acknowledgment (ACK) number or the 64-character IRN; the FAQ also says the seller or buyer can print using the signed JSON payload returned by the IRP. Portal menus can change, so follow the live interface. See IRIS IRP help and FAQ.
Do not confuse an invoice PDF with the GST Portal’s GSTR-1 e-invoice-details export: the portal guide describes downloading those details in Excel format, not as individual invoice PDFs. See the GST Portal GSTR-1 guide.

Check the saved PDF before relying on it
CBIC’s Rule 46 lists prescribed tax-invoice particulars, including supplier name, address and GSTIN; consecutive invoice serial number and issue date; recipient details where applicable; goods or services description and value; and tax particulars. It specifies further particulars too, so this is not an exhaustive compliance checklist. Read CBIC’s invoice rules and Rule 46 on the CBIC Tax Information Portal.

- Confirm all pages are present and that text and figures are legible.
- If the original displays an e-invoice QR code or IRN, make sure it remains visible and readable in the PDF.
Troubleshoot common PDF problems
- Save as PDF is missing: In the print window, open the destination or printer selector and look for the PDF option. The available labels and controls may vary by platform.
- The preview is blank or incomplete: Return to the page, allow it to finish loading, and check whether sign-in is required. Reopen Print after the invoice content appears.
- Text or columns are cut off: Review the page size, orientation, margins, scale, and page range in the print preview, then inspect the saved file.
- The QR code or some details are absent: Compare the PDF with the original page. If the invoice is an IRP record and you need its issued representation, use the portal’s PDF workflow instead of relying only on the browser printout.
- You downloaded a spreadsheet rather than a PDF: You may have used the GSTR-1 e-invoice-details export. That export is described as Excel; use the invoice page’s print-to-PDF feature or the relevant IRP PDF option for an invoice document.
Does converting a webpage make the invoice official?
No. Chrome’s generic print function saves what is rendered on the page; making that file does not itself issue, amend, or authenticate the underlying invoice. Keep the original invoice, and for an IRP e-invoice prefer the portal-generated PDF or the IRP’s signed-payload process where applicable. For legal or compliance questions about a particular invoice, consult the applicable GST rules or a qualified adviser.
