If you suspect your ASOS account has been accessed or received a suspicious ASOS message, start from ASOS’s official Customer Care pages—not a link in the message. Use the AI Assistant and, when offered, live chat. ASOS lists live chat hours as 07:00–23:59 Monday to Sunday, but the chat button appears only when a Customer Care agent is available. The UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) says all ASOS customers should treat themselves as potentially affected by the incident ASOS reported on 6 October 2026, even if they did not receive the unauthorised notification.

What ASOS says happened

In an update on 6 October 2026, ASOS said it was investigating unauthorised activity involving third-party platforms it uses to communicate with customers. The company said names and contact details may have been accessed. ASOS plc’s current assessment is: “We do not believe that payment-card information or account passwords, were impacted.” This is ASOS’s assessment, not confirmation that those details were independently verified as unaffected. The NCSC advised all ASOS customers to assume they may be affected, including people who did not receive the unauthorised notification. Watch for suspicious messages and do not click links in unexpected push notifications, emails or texts.

Read the ASOS plc update and the NCSC alert for their respective statements.

How to contact ASOS Customer Care

  1. Open ASOS yourself. Type the ASOS website address into your browser or use a bookmark you trust. Open Help or Customer Care from there; do not use a link in a suspicious message.
  2. Start with the AI Assistant. Explain that you have an account-security concern and describe the activity or communication you want checked.
  3. Use live chat if available. ASOS lists live chat hours as 07:00–23:59 Monday to Sunday. The chat button appears when a Customer Care agent is available, so being within those hours does not guarantee an agent is immediately available. ASOS recommends logging in first for a more tailored experience; if you cannot safely access your account, begin from the official Customer Care pages instead.

ASOS’s published pages do not establish a dedicated account-security phone number or email address, a guaranteed reply time, or a special recovery route for customers locked out of their accounts. Use the official Help route rather than searching for contact details in an unsolicited message. See ASOS Customer Care.

How to tell whether a message is really from ASOS

ASOS says it will contact customers only through an ASOS-branded email address or a verified social media account. It also warns about impersonators using fake Gmail addresses, WhatsApp, social media and fake websites. If you are unsure, do not click links or open attachments; go to ASOS Customer Care independently and check there. A message claiming urgency or asking you to confirm credentials is not proof that it is genuine.

ASOS states: “Never provide your full card number or screenshots of your bank account through email or live chat.” It also says it will never ask for sensitive information such as a password or card details in social-media direct messages. What to do if you suspect account access

  • Contact ASOS through its official support route and report the activity you do not recognise.
  • Review your ASOS account activity and check for unfamiliar orders or changes.
  • Change your ASOS password. If you reused it elsewhere, change it on those accounts too; use a strong, separate password for each account.
  • Secure the email account linked to ASOS password resets, and look for unusual activity there.
  • Check recent transactions and enable two-step verification where the relevant service offers it.

The NCSC recommends strong, separate passwords and two-step verification where available. Its online security guidance includes further steps. Do not assume ASOS offers a particular recovery feature or login method unless it is shown on its official pages.

What to do about a transaction you do not recognise

Before reporting a card charge as fraud, ASOS suggests checking whether it could relate to an ASOS Premier subscription, an order placed by someone with access to your payment details, another card on your account, or a cancelled order that still appears as pending. If the transaction still looks unauthorised, contact ASOS through Help and provide the date, time, amount and currency, plus only the last four card digits. Never send a full card number or a bank-account screenshot through email or live chat. Contact your card provider about an unrecognised transaction as well.
