Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To connect Gyre to a YouTube channel, start a stream in Gyre, choose YouTube, and authorize the intended channel through Google. If Google prompts for 2-Step Verification (2SV), complete that sign-in challenge; Gyre’s setup instructions do not say to turn 2SV off. YouTube channel verification and live-stream eligibility are separate requirements.
Connect Gyre using Google channel authorization
- Start in Gyre. Sign in, begin creating a stream, and choose YouTube as the platform. Select channel authorization if you want Gyre to configure the broadcast through YouTube’s API. Gyre’s setup guide describes this flow.
- Sign in to Google. Use the Google Account that owns or manages the YouTube channel you intend to stream on. If Google asks for 2SV, complete the challenge in Google’s sign-in flow using an available method for that account. Depending on the account and sign-in context, methods can include a prompt, passkey, security key, authenticator code, phone code, or backup code. Google explains 2-Step Verification.
- Review the requested access. Check the permissions shown on Google’s consent screen and review the app’s privacy and security information before approving. Do not give Gyre your Google password; authorized access to YouTube private data uses OAuth 2.0. YouTube Live API authentication documentation explains the authorization model, and Google’s guidance on third-party apps covers reviewing app access.
- Select the correct channel. If the Google Account manages multiple YouTube channels, explicitly choose the channel you want to use and check its name before continuing. Then finish configuring the stream in Gyre. Gyre says its authorization path can create the broadcast, bind a stream key, and transfer stream metadata.
Never share a verification code with another person or enter it outside the Google sign-in flow. If a prompt appears unexpectedly, stop and check that you are on Google’s genuine sign-in page.
2-Step Verification is not YouTube channel verification
Google Account 2SV protects sign-in by requiring an additional check in some situations. It is an account security measure, not a Gyre-specific switch. The Gyre instructions do not tell users to disable it.
YouTube’s channel phone verification and live-stream eligibility are separate. YouTube says phone verification unlocks live streaming, while the Live API requires a channel to be approved or enabled for Live; an ineligible channel can receive an insufficient-permissions error. Check YouTube’s live-streaming verification guidance and the YouTube Live API documentation if the channel cannot broadcast.

Choose between channel authorization and a stream key
| Setup path | What Gyre handles | What you handle |
|---|---|---|
| Channel authorization | Gyre says it can create or configure the broadcast through the API, bind the stream key, and transfer metadata. | Sign in to the correct Google Account, review and grant requested access, choose the correct channel, and configure the stream in Gyre. |
| Manual stream-key setup | Gyre provides a manual setup route. | Supply the YouTube stream key and related settings yourself. This may suit users who prefer manual control or need YouTube Studio controls the API route does not expose. |
Use only the stream key for the intended YouTube channel, and treat it as a secret: anyone with it may be able to send a stream to that channel. If authorization is unsuitable, Gyre documents manual stream-key configuration as an alternative. See Gyre’s connection instructions.
Troubleshoot authorization and channel selection
- Google rejects sign-in or requests another check: Complete the challenge within Google’s sign-in flow. If you cannot use the offered method, use Google’s account recovery or alternate verification options rather than disabling account protections.
- The wrong channel appears: Confirm you signed into the Google Account that owns or manages the target channel. For a Brand Account or an account with multiple channels, inspect the channel selection carefully. YouTube notes some third-party tools may select the wrong channel or return an error; setting the intended channel as the default may help when an app does not offer channel switching. See YouTube’s guidance on switching channels.
- Authorization succeeds but the broadcast cannot start: Check YouTube phone verification and live eligibility separately from Google 2SV. The API can deny access if Live is not enabled for the channel.
- You are unsure about the consent screen: Do not approve access until you understand what is requested and have reviewed the app’s privacy and security disclosures.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month.
