Then return to Facebook Live Producer and click Go Live manually. This is the server/key workflow Castr documents; the exact placement of Facebook controls can change.
Before you start: distinguish Facebook’s destination key from Castr’s source key
In this setup, Facebook’s Server URL and Stream Key are destination credentials: Castr uses them to send your stream to Facebook. They are not the RTMP URL and key your encoder uses to send video into Castr. Castr documents its separate ingest credentials in the Stream Source Setup panel. Using Facebook’s values as your encoder’s Castr source credentials can leave Castr with no incoming video. Castr’s guide to finding stream and ingest details covers those source settings.
Connect Castr to Facebook Live with Server/Key
- Open a Castr livestream. Sign in to Castr and open an existing livestream project or create one. Castr’s current livestream guide describes adding platforms from the stream dashboard; destination availability and counts depend on the subscription plan. See How to Start a Live Stream in Castr.
- Add Facebook Live as a destination. In the dashboard, select Add destination or the corresponding platform-add control, then choose Facebook Live.
- Select the custom credential route. Choose Setup with Server/Key. This is separate from Castr’s Facebook account-linking/API route.
- Get Facebook’s destination credentials. Open Facebook Live Producer, choose Use Stream Key in its setup panel, and copy the displayed Server URL and Stream Key. Facebook may offer a persistent stream key for reuse; protect it as you would a password. Castr’s instructions map its Streaming Server field to Facebook’s Server URL and its Streaming Key field to Facebook’s stream key. See Castr’s server-and-key instructions.
- Enter the values in Castr. Return to the Facebook destination settings in Castr. Paste Facebook’s Server URL into Streaming Server and its Stream Key into Streaming Key. Add the stream title and description, select or configure the stream source, and save or add the destination.
- Start sending the stream from Castr. Start the livestream in Castr so it begins sending video to Facebook.
- Go live in Facebook Producer. Return to Facebook Live Producer and click Go Live manually after Castr starts. With the server/key route, starting Castr does not itself complete Facebook’s manual go-live action. Confirm that the intended Facebook Page or profile is selected and that the broadcast appears live before sharing it.
Server/key or Facebook account linking?
Castr documents two ways to connect Facebook Live. Choose based on how you want to handle credentials and start the broadcast, and confirm that your plan and account support the destination you need.
| Route | What you do | Practical distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Server/key (custom RTMP destination) | Copy Facebook’s Server URL and Stream Key from Live Producer and enter them in Castr. | After Castr starts sending, manually click Go Live in Facebook Producer. |
| Facebook API/account linking | Use Continue with Facebook in Castr, authorize the account, then choose a supported destination. | This is a separate linked-account flow. Castr’s current supported destinations and plan eligibility should be checked in your account. |
Castr describes account linking as an alternative to manual server/key entry. Its older June 2024 Facebook API article described Page access and plan eligibility in terms specific to that time; do not rely on those historical plan details as current terms. Check Castr’s current plan information and destination controls before choosing the API route. See Castr’s Facebook API integration article.

Troubleshoot a Castr-to-Facebook connection
- No video reaches Castr: Check the encoder’s source settings. It must use Castr’s source ingest URL and key from Stream Source Setup, not the Facebook destination URL and key.
- Castr is sending, but Facebook is not live: For the server/key route, open Facebook Live Producer and click Go Live after Castr starts.
- Facebook destination will not connect: Recopy the Facebook Server URL and Stream Key, then confirm the URL is in Castr’s Streaming Server field and the key is in Streaming Key. Check for accidental spaces or a mismatched credential.
- Your encoder asks for a username and password for Castr ingest: Castr’s July 2026 ingest guide says to leave those fields empty for that workflow. This applies to encoder-to-Castr ingest, not Facebook’s destination credentials. See Castr’s ingest details guide.
- You need a reusable key: If Facebook Live Producer offers Use a Persistent Stream Key, it can be used for repeated sessions. Keep it private and rotate it if it is exposed.
- The destination or API option is unavailable: Review the current Castr subscription and in-account destination availability. Castr says destination counts depend on plan, and plan details can change.
Check Facebook eligibility and duration guidance carefully
Castr’s June 2024 Facebook API article reported that, beginning June 10, 2024, Facebook required accounts to be at least 60 days old and Pages to have at least 100 followers for the described live-streaming eligibility. The same article described a 240-minute limit when continuous streaming was disabled, longer streams when it was enabled (with the video not saved on Facebook), and an 8-hour maximum stream length. These are dated claims from Castr’s 2024 documentation, not verified statements of Facebook’s rules in 2026. Check Facebook Live Producer and Facebook’s current requirements for your account and broadcast before relying on them.

If your goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube channel live around the clock, StreamNeo is a separate option—not a Castr-to-Facebook destination. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing needs to stay on at home; it does not stream camera footage or send streams to Facebook.
