To connect a micro hi-fi to a TV, phone, or computer, match an audio output on the source to a compatible audio input on the stereo. Then select that input on the hi-fi and adjust the source’s audio-output settings if needed. The right cable or wireless method depends on the ports and features on both devices.

Check the ports before choosing a connection

Look at the labels and manual for each device. The source needs an audio output, and the hi-fi needs a compatible audio input. Do not connect two outputs together. Older systems commonly offer analog AUX inputs; optical, HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, and USB audio support vary by model.

Once connected, choose the matching input—such as AUX, optical, ARC, or Bluetooth—on the stereo. For model-specific TV settings, use the TV and hi-fi manuals. Manufacturer guides explain options for particular systems, not every micro hi-fi: Teufel’s KOMBO TV connection guide and Sony’s analog audio-system connection guidance are examples.

Connect a TV to the micro hi-fi

Analog headphone or stereo output to AUX

If the TV has a 3.5 mm headphone/stereo output and the hi-fi has stereo RCA AUX inputs, use a 3.5 mm stereo-to-RCA cable. Connect the 3.5 mm plug to the TV and the red and white RCA plugs to the matching stereo inputs. If both devices have stereo RCA ports, use an RCA stereo cable instead. Select AUX on the hi-fi. Some TVs require you to enable or select headphone output; adjust the TV’s output volume if necessary. See the model-specific analog options described by Philips and Teufel.

Optical digital audio

Use optical only if the TV has an optical digital audio output and the hi-fi has an optical input. Connect them with a TOSLINK cable and select optical input on the stereo. If there is no sound, check whether the TV can be set to PCM or stereo output; the Fluance Fi70 instructions specify PCM/stereo for its optical connection. That is a model-specific requirement, not a universal setting for every hi-fi. See Fluance’s Fi70 TV connection instructions.

HDMI ARC

HDMI ARC works only when both the TV and stereo explicitly support ARC. Connect the devices through the ports labeled ARC, use a high-speed HDMI cable, and enable any required audio or HDMI-control settings in their menus. Support is model-dependent: Teufel lists ARC for the KOMBO 62 Mk2, not as a feature shared by every system in its range. Check the manuals for both devices and see Teufel’s KOMBO guidance.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is an option only if the TV can send Bluetooth audio and the hi-fi can receive it. Put the stereo into its Bluetooth receiving or pairing mode, then follow both devices’ pairing instructions. Bluetooth on the TV alone is not enough. The cited Fi70 guidance describes Bluetooth reception from phones, tablets, and computers, but does not establish compatibility for every TV-and-stereo combination; check the manuals for your exact models (Fluance Fi70 instructions).

Connect a phone or computer

Bluetooth audio

If the hi-fi supports Bluetooth audio reception, select its Bluetooth input and pair the phone or computer using the device instructions. Fluance lists phones, tablets, and PCs or laptops as Bluetooth sources for the Fi70; that support should not be assumed for other models (Fluance Fi70 instructions).

Wired analog audio

If the phone or computer has a headphone output and the stereo has AUX, connect them with a cable that fits both ends. For a 3.5 mm source output and RCA stereo input, use a 3.5 mm stereo-to-RCA cable, then select AUX on the hi-fi. Many current phones and some computers lack a headphone jack; a suitable audio adapter may be needed, so confirm the device’s actual output before buying a cable. The cited manufacturer guidance supports the stereo AUX connection, but does not establish compatibility for every phone adapter (Teufel; Philips).

USB: verify audio support

A USB socket does not necessarily accept audio from a computer. It may be for charging or for playing supported files from storage rather than functioning as a computer audio input. For example, Fluance says the Fi70 USB port is charging-only. Check the exact hi-fi manual for explicit USB audio input support before relying on USB; an incomplete manual extract for another model does not establish a general rule (Fluance Fi70 instructions; Arçelik manual).

Troubleshoot a connection with no sound

  • Check direction: confirm the source port is audio out and the stereo port is audio in.
  • Check the match: use analog output with analog input or optical output with optical input. Use ARC only when both devices support it.
  • Select the stereo input: choose AUX, optical, ARC, or Bluetooth to match the connection.
  • For optical: if the hi-fi does not decode the TV’s selected format, try PCM or stereo output in the TV’s audio settings.
  • For a headphone output: check the TV or device’s volume and whether its settings enable the headphone jack.
  • For USB: verify in the model’s manual that the port supports audio input; do not infer that from the socket alone.

Choose the connection by compatibility

There is no single cable or connection method that works with every micro hi-fi. Check that the two ports match first, then determine whether you need an adapter and whether either device requires a setting change. Wired and wireless connections offer different conveniences, but the available manufacturer instructions do not establish a universal sound-quality ranking across arbitrary models.

A 3.5 mm stereo-to-RCA cable is appropriate only when the source provides analog stereo output and the hi-fi has RCA input. A TOSLINK cable is appropriate only when optical output and input are both present. A Bluetooth audio receiver with analog output can be a possible workaround for an AUX-equipped stereo without Bluetooth, but verify that the adapter is a receiver and that its output connectors match the hi-fi; no specific adapter model is established here.
