Connect the cable feed from the wall to the cable box’s CABLE IN or RF IN port, then use a second coaxial cable from the box’s RF OUT or TO TV port to the TV’s Cable/Antenna input. If the box has a channel 3/4 output switch, match the TV to that setting and change programs with the cable-box remote.
Connect the wall feed, box, and TV

Turn off the TV and cable box before connecting the cables, as Philips recommends in its RF coaxial connection instructions.

Connect the cable service line from the wall to the box’s CABLE IN, RF IN, or IN port. This is the box’s input, not the cable that runs to the TV.

Use a separate coaxial cable to connect the box’s RF OUT, TO TV, or OUT port to the TV’s Cable/Antenna or coaxial input. Labels vary by model, so follow the port names on your equipment. Philips’ quick-start guide and TCL’s Roku TV connection instructions show this general output-to-TV path.

If the connectors are threaded, tighten them finger-tight. Do not force them.
Choose the TV input and tune to the box
If the box has a channel 3/4 switch
Turn on the cable box and TV. Set the box’s output switch to channel 3 or 4, if it has one, and tune the TV to the same channel. The TV and box must match. This channel 3/4 method applies only to boxes with that RF output configuration; use the switch position and equipment instructions for your model.

Once the picture appears, change channels with the cable-box remote. The TV remains tuned to the box’s output channel while the box selects the program.
If your TV has a coaxial setup menu
Select the TV’s coaxial TV/Antenna source if prompted. Some interfaces also ask you to run channel finding or setup. TCL’s Roku TV instructions describe selecting the Antenna TV tile and following its channel-finding flow, which includes a Channels 3 & 4 option in that setup. Menu names and steps vary by TV model, so follow the on-screen prompts.

When another connection may be preferable
For the older TV models addressed on its support page, Philips says: “If your cable box is equipped with a direct AV output, it is recommended to connect the cable box to the television using the AV connection in order to produce better picture quality.” Treat that as manufacturer guidance for the models covered, not a universal rule for every box and TV. Philips’ quick-start guide also notes that its RF-output connection will not supply stereo sound, so audio capabilities can be limited in some setups.

You need a separate coaxial cable between the box and TV if you do not already have a suitable one. Check that its connectors fit the ports on both devices; the cited setup instructions do not require a particular brand.
