To play Sifu with a physical gamepad, pair the controller with your Android phone, iPhone, or iPad in the device’s Bluetooth settings before opening the game. Put the controller into pairing mode, select it in the system Bluetooth list, wait for a connected status, and then launch Sifu. Both the Google Play and Apple App Store listings describe the mobile release as having full controller support, and neither listing describes a separate in-game pairing screen.
If Sifu does not respond, verify that the controller is actually connected rather than merely remembered, close and relaunch the game after pairing, and rule out a connection to another device. A USB-C wired controller can be a fallback when the phone supports USB host accessories.
What Sifu’s mobile listings confirm
The official Google Play listing and Apple App Store listing for the mobile version of Sifu, published by Kepler Interactive in 2026, both advertise “full controller support.” The Google Play description also mentions touch controls designed for mobile devices, contextual interactions, and a reworked camera system. In practical terms, you should establish the controller connection in Android or iOS first, then start the game.

| Platform | Official information | What it means for setup |
|---|---|---|
| Android | Google Play lists full controller support. The Android package is com.keplerinteractive.sifuthegame, and the listing was shown as updated in October 2026. |
Pair the gamepad through Android Bluetooth settings before launching the app. |
| iPhone | Apple’s listing advertises full controller support and requires iOS 18.0 or later with an A17 Pro chip or later. | Pair through Settings > Bluetooth, confirm the connected state, then open the game. |
| iPad | Apple’s listing advertises full controller support and requires iPadOS 18.0 or later with an M-series or A17 Pro chip. | Use Settings > Bluetooth before starting Sifu. |
“Full controller support” does not amount to a published whitelist of every Bluetooth model. The store pages do not specify guaranteed support for particular controller brands, button-remapping instructions, or a model-by-model compatibility matrix. If a particular gamepad fails, treat that as a compatibility issue to isolate rather than proof that the mobile game has no controller support.

Prepare the phone and controller
Charge and wake the gamepad
Give the controller enough charge to remain discoverable during setup. Turn it on and check its status light or other pairing indicator. A controller with a nearly empty battery may shut down before Android or iOS completes the connection.
Disconnect the old connection
Bluetooth controllers often try to reconnect to the last console, computer, tablet, or phone they used. If the gamepad is already connected elsewhere, the new phone may not see it as available. Turn off Bluetooth on the previous host, disconnect the controller there, or use that device’s “forget” option. If the controller has several connection slots, select the slot intended for the phone and clear an old pairing when necessary.
Check the mobile operating-system requirement
On iPhone, the listing specifies iOS 18.0 or later and an A17 Pro chip or later. On iPad, it specifies iPadOS 18.0 or later with an M-series or A17 Pro chip. These are requirements shown by Apple for the listed app; an older Apple device may therefore be unable to install or run this release even if its Bluetooth radio can pair with a controller. Android compatibility is managed through the Google Play listing and the device’s own software support.
Find the controller’s pairing command
Enter Bluetooth pairing mode using the controller’s dedicated pairing button or its documented button combination. The exact command differs by model and is not specified in Sifu’s store listings. Hold the control until the status light changes to the rapid-flash or other discovery pattern described by that controller’s manual. Simply turning the gamepad on is not always enough: it may be awake but still connected to its previous host.
Pair a Bluetooth controller on Android
Android menu names differ between phone manufacturers and software versions, but the sequence is consistent: open system Bluetooth settings, make the controller discoverable, select it, and wait for the connected state.
- Wake the controller. Charge it, turn it on, and disconnect it from any console, computer, or other phone.
- Activate pairing mode. Hold the controller’s pairing button or documented button combination until its status indicator shows that it is discoverable.
- Open Android settings. Go to Settings, then open Bluetooth or Connected devices and choose the Bluetooth section. Some Android builds place the same control under Connection preferences.
- Enable Bluetooth. If Bluetooth is off, turn it on. Leave the device list open while the controller is flashing its pairing indicator.
- Select the controller. Tap the controller’s advertised Bluetooth name under available or new devices. If Android asks to pair, accept the request. A PIN is uncommon for modern gamepads; if your controller’s documentation specifies one, use that value.
- Wait for “Connected.” Do not launch Sifu while the item is only listed under saved, remembered, or previously connected devices. The controller should be shown as connected and ready for input.
- Start the game. Open Sifu only after the operating system reports the active connection. Mobile games can enumerate input devices when they start, so launching after pairing gives the game the best chance to initialize the gamepad.
- Test before a difficult run. In a safe menu or training moment, check movement, camera control, attack, dodge or parry, and menu navigation. This confirms that the connection is usable before you commit to a demanding encounter.
If Android shows the controller but will not connect
Tap the device entry and look for a connect or pair action rather than assuming that a remembered name represents an active link. If another host keeps taking the connection, disable Bluetooth on that host and repeat pairing mode. When Android still refuses the connection, forget the saved controller entry, place the gamepad back into pairing mode, and pair it as a new device. After a successful system connection, close Sifu completely and reopen it.

Pair a Bluetooth controller on iPhone or iPad
Apple uses the same basic process on both iPhone and iPad. The exact controller pairing button comes from the controller manufacturer; the Apple settings path is the part you control.
Recommended Free Tools
- Prepare the gamepad. Charge it, turn it on, and make sure it is not actively connected to another device.
- Put it into discovery mode. Hold its pairing button or documented button combination until the status light indicates Bluetooth pairing.
- Open Bluetooth settings. On the iPhone or iPad, open Settings and tap Bluetooth.
- Turn Bluetooth on. Leave the Bluetooth page visible so you can see newly discovered devices.
- Choose the controller name. Tap the gamepad under Other Devices or the equivalent discovery list. Accept any pairing prompt.
- Confirm the state. Wait until the controller moves into the connected-device list and is labeled Connected. A name that remains under other devices has not completed pairing.
- Launch Sifu. Start the game after the connected state appears. If the app was already open while you paired, close it from the app switcher and reopen it.
- Verify controls. Use a menu or low-risk training moment to test movement, camera, attacks, defensive actions, and navigation.
Apple hardware limits to keep in mind
The Apple store listing’s requirements are specific: iPhone needs iOS 18.0 or later and an A17 Pro chip or later; iPad needs iPadOS 18.0 or later and an M-series or A17 Pro chip. Bluetooth pairing by itself does not bypass those app requirements. If the game cannot be installed on the device, a working controller connection will not make the app playable.
Connecting common controller arrangements
A controller previously used with a console or computer
Start by shutting down the former host’s Bluetooth or disconnecting the controller there. Then use the gamepad’s documented Bluetooth pairing command and select it from the phone’s device list. Controllers that support several connection modes may remember a console-oriented mode, a computer mode, or a mobile mode. Select the mode described in the controller’s own documentation for Bluetooth mobile use; Sifu’s listings do not publish mode-specific instructions.
A compact phone gamepad
For a clip-on or telescoping gamepad, check that it presents a standard Bluetooth connection rather than requiring a proprietary companion app. The same operating-system pairing steps apply. If the controller offers multiple input protocols, use the protocol documented as compatible with your phone’s operating system. Do not assume that a controller’s ability to pair means every button will be recognized by every game.
A USB-C wired controller
A wired controller can remove Bluetooth pairing from the equation. Connect it to the phone’s USB-C port and test whether the device recognizes it as a USB host accessory. This requires a phone that supports USB host accessories and a controller whose connector and input mode the phone can use. If the phone does not recognize the wired gamepad, return to Bluetooth troubleshooting rather than concluding that Sifu lacks controller support.

Pairing is complete at the operating-system level when the controller is labeled connected, but the game still needs to initialize that input device. Use this short verification routine:

- Move the character and confirm that the camera responds to the right stick or its equivalent.
- Test a normal attack and a defensive action such as dodge or parry in a safe situation.
- Press the controller’s confirm and back buttons in menus. If one button behaves unexpectedly, note the mapping before starting a serious run.
- Return to system Bluetooth settings if every control is ignored. Confirm that the device is still connected, then relaunch the game.
The store listings do not document an in-game controller selection screen. Consequently, there may be no setting inside Sifu that can repair a connection which the operating system has not established. The practical order is system pairing first, game launch second, input test third.

The controller is remembered but not connected
Open Bluetooth settings and distinguish the connected list from saved or remembered devices. If the gamepad is not labeled connected, tap it to reconnect. If that fails, forget the old entry, put the controller into pairing mode again, and pair it from scratch.
The game was open before pairing
Close Sifu completely and reopen it after the operating system reports a successful connection. Some mobile games enumerate controllers only when they launch, so pairing after the game has already started may not be recognized until the next launch.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteAnother device is claiming the gamepad
Turn off Bluetooth or disconnect the controller on nearby consoles, computers, tablets, or phones. A controller that immediately reconnects to an old host may disappear from the phone’s available-device list or appear to pair and then drop.
The game or operating system is out of date
Install available updates for Sifu and the phone’s operating system where practical, then restart the pairing process. The Google Play listing shown for Android was updated in October 2026; keeping the installed app current ensures that your copy matches the current listing rather than an older build.
The controller works elsewhere but not with Sifu
Try a second compatible Bluetooth gamepad to separate a controller-specific problem from an app or phone problem. If another controller works, the first device may use an input mode that the phone or game does not recognize. The official listings do not provide a guaranteed controller whitelist, so a particular model still needs its own compatibility confirmation.

Bluetooth pairing succeeds but input remains absent
Recheck the connected status, close and reopen the game, and test navigation in a menu. If the gamepad still produces no input, try a USB-C wired controller if the phone supports USB host accessories. This is a diagnostic fallback as well as a play option: it bypasses Bluetooth while leaving the game’s controller support unchanged.
How to choose a controller for Sifu mobile
If you are buying a gamepad specifically for a phone or tablet, evaluate the connection and ergonomics rather than relying only on a product’s claim that it works with mobile devices.
| Selection criterion | What to verify | Why it matters for Sifu |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth compatibility | Documentation should explicitly cover your Android version, iPhone, or iPad. | A controller that pairs with one operating system may not expose the same input mode on another. |
| Input protocol | Look for the protocol intended for your platform, such as XInput, MFi, or the equivalent mode documented by the manufacturer. | Pairing alone does not guarantee that the game receives usable button and stick events. |
| Ergonomics and mounting | Check whether the phone can be held securely, whether a case fits, and whether the layout remains comfortable for long sessions. | Sifu relies on movement, camera control, attacks, and defensive timing, so awkward grip or an obstructed screen can affect play. |
| Wired fallback | Confirm whether the controller can operate over USB and whether your phone supports USB host accessories. | A wired mode provides an alternative when Bluetooth discovery or reconnection fails. |
| Battery life | Check the manufacturer’s stated runtime and charging method. | A controller that powers down during a run can look like a game-detection problem. |
| Connection reliability | Read the controller’s documentation for reconnection behavior and multi-device support. | Reliable switching prevents the gamepad from silently reconnecting to an old host. |
Do not treat any model as guaranteed solely because the store page says Sifu supports controllers. The listings establish game-level support, while the controller’s own documentation establishes whether its Bluetooth mode and input protocol match your device.
When touch controls may be the better option
The mobile release was designed with touch controls as well as physical input. If you are travelling without a gamepad, the game remains usable through its mobile touch interface. A controller is most useful when you prefer physical sticks and buttons, want a familiar layout, or find precise movement and defensive timing easier with hardware. Keeping touch controls available also gives you a way to open settings or continue playing while a controller is charging or being re-paired.
What is and is not documented
The official Android and Apple listings establish full controller support and the Apple hardware requirements stated above. They do not publish a separate Sifu pairing screen, a guaranteed list of controller models, button-remapping directions, or model-specific recovery procedures. That is why the reliable workflow is deliberately simple: pair at the operating-system level, launch after the connected state appears, test input, and isolate failures by reconnecting, relaunching, updating, trying another controller, or using a compatible wired connection.
