To finish Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises, update Pokémon Pokopia to version 2.0.1, meet the town and story prerequisites, learn Camouflage from Zorua, then farm Pumpkin Candy by scaring Pokémon while disguised as liked furniture or toys. Spend the candy on the nine shop items, build both Halloween habitats, and speak to Pumpkaboo again after the final purchase to receive the exclusive Trick or Treat photo frame.
Event dates, clock rules and prerequisites
The event runs from October 17, 2026, at 05:00 through November 1, 2026, at 04:59 local time on the Nintendo Switch 2 clock. The cutoff is local to the console, not a single worldwide time. Set the system clock correctly before starting, and redeem your Pumpkin Candy before the event closes.
Your save must satisfy every requirement below. If one is missing, Pumpkaboo may not appear at the Withered Wasteland Pokémon Center.
| Requirement | What to check |
|---|---|
| Game version | Pokémon Pokopia must display version 2.0.1. |
| Story progress | The town’s important request must be completed. |
| Facility | The town Pokémon Center must be rebuilt. |
| Ability | Zorua must have taught you Camouflage at Bleak Beach. |
| System clock | The Nintendo Switch 2 date and time must be correct and set to local time. |
| Online initialization | Launch the game online once after the event window begins so the event data can activate. |
If Pumpkaboo is missing
- Confirm the game has updated to version 2.0.1 and that Camouflage is available in your ability list.
- Leave the current town and travel to another town, then return to Withered Wasteland.
- If the character still does not load, quit to the Nintendo Switch 2 home screen and restart the game.
- Do not advance the console clock to force the event. A wrong clock can place the save outside the event window.
Start Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises
- Travel to the Withered Wasteland Pokémon Center.
- Look outside the Center for Pumpkaboo.
- Talk to Pumpkaboo and accept the candy request.
- Finish the conversation to befriend Pumpkaboo and unlock the Pumpkin Candy exchange.
Pumpkaboo is the event hub. Return to it whenever you need to buy a shop item or, after all nine purchases, claim the Trick or Treat frame.

Farm Pumpkin Candy with the Camouflage loop
The fastest repeatable method uses Camouflage to turn Ditto into an object that nearby Pokémon like. You only receive candy when the target identifies the disguise and you cancel it at the right moment.
Exact farming procedure
- Activate Camouflage and select a furniture item or toy that is appealing to Pokémon in the area.
- Move into a nearby Pokémon’s line of sight. Stay close enough for it to notice the disguise, but avoid rushing past it.
- Wait for a speech bubble that names the object you became. This bubble confirms that the reaction has registered.
- Cancel the transformation immediately after the speech bubble appears. The sudden change scares the Pokémon.
- Collect the Pumpkin Candy dropped by the frightened Pokémon. Each successful scare yields 1–3 Pumpkin Candy.
- Move to the next Pokémon and repeat the sequence.
Do not cancel Camouflage before the identifying speech bubble appears. Transforming back early produces no guaranteed reward and wastes the encounter.
Choose the right disguise
Furniture and toys create more reactions than trees, flowers, bushes or building blocks. In a dense habitat, use a recognizable furniture or toy disguise and stand where several residents can see you, then work through them one at a time. Natural scenery is still usable, but it generally produces fewer opportunities and is slower for a candy target.

Keep the loop moving
- Clear a compact group rather than crossing the whole map after every scare.
- Target Pokémon that are idle and facing your position. A Pokémon already talking with another Pokémon may fail to react.
- After a resident has been scared, it can react again after roughly eight minutes. Rotate through a dense habitat instead of waiting beside one target.
- Keep the camera and your character positioned so the speech bubble is easy to see; the bubble is the confirmation that lets you cancel safely.
- Collect each drop before moving on so candy totals remain easy to track.
How much candy should you plan for?
Because each scare gives between one and three candy, the number of encounters needed varies. At the minimum yield, twenty candy can require twenty successful scares; at the maximum yield, it can take as few as seven. Treat the range as a planning guide rather than a guaranteed rate, and continue rotating targets while the event is active.
All nine shop rewards and their costs
Purchasing the complete shop list costs 20 Pumpkin Candy. The items are also the components used to build the two event habitats.
| Shop item | Cost | Role in the event |
|---|---|---|
| Eerie Statue | 3 | Shop reward; not required for either listed habitat. |
| Cofagrigus Locker | 3 | Shop reward; not required for either listed habitat. |
| Ghost Smoke Projector | 3 | Required for the Give Me Something Good to Eat habitat. |
| Candy Bucket | 2 | Required for the Give Me Something Good to Eat habitat. |
| Trevenant Streetlight | 2 | Required for the Creepy Pumpkins habitat. |
| Pumpkin Lantern | 2 | Required for the Creepy Pumpkins habitat and supports the tower. |
| Pumpkin Lantern Tower | 2 | Required for the Creepy Pumpkins habitat; must sit on the Pumpkin Lantern. |
| Fun Balloons | 2 | Shop reward; not required for either listed habitat. |
| Huge Table | 1 | Optional table component for Give Me Something Good to Eat if you do not already own a table. |
The costs add up to 20 candy. Buying an item does not remove it from your inventory when you place it in a habitat, so one purchase supplies the required placement and counts toward the complete shop list.

Give Me Something Good to Eat (#008): attract Pumpkaboo
This habitat needs any table, one Candy Bucket and one Ghost Smoke Projector.
- Place a table in the habitat area. An existing table works; buy the Huge Table only if you do not already own one.
- Place the Candy Bucket nearby.
- Place the Ghost Smoke Projector so all three objects are inside the same habitat boundary.
- Confirm the game recognizes the habitat as Give Me Something Good to Eat (#008).
The Candy Bucket costs 2 and the Ghost Smoke Projector costs 3. Therefore, the habitat uses 5 candy when you already own a table, or 6 candy if you buy the 1-candy Huge Table.

Creepy Pumpkins (#009): attract Gourgeist
This habitat needs one Trevenant Streetlight, one Pumpkin Lantern and one Pumpkin Lantern Tower.
- Place the Trevenant Streetlight inside the habitat area.
- Place the Pumpkin Lantern on the ground.
- Place the Pumpkin Lantern Tower directly on top of the Pumpkin Lantern.
- Check that the game registers Creepy Pumpkins (#009), then leave the area long enough for Gourgeist to arrive.
The three pieces cost 2 candy each, for a total of 6. The tower placement is essential: putting it beside the lantern instead of on top prevents the habitat from registering.

Combined habitat budget
| Plan | Items used | Candy needed |
|---|---|---|
| Both habitats with an existing table | Candy Bucket, Ghost Smoke Projector, Trevenant Streetlight, Pumpkin Lantern, Pumpkin Lantern Tower | 11 |
| Both habitats while buying the Huge Table | The five pieces above plus Huge Table | 12 |
| Gourgeist first | Trevenant Streetlight, Pumpkin Lantern, Pumpkin Lantern Tower | 6 |
If Gourgeist is your priority, buy its three pieces first for 6 candy. You can then farm the remaining candy for the other habitat and the cosmetic shop items without risking the Gourgeist unlock.

Efficient completion routes
Route A: collect every reward with the least planning
- Start the event and earn candy with the Camouflage loop.
- Buy the habitat pieces as soon as you can, including a Huge Table only when your town has no usable table.
- Place both habitats so Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist can arrive.
- Continue farming until you have enough for the remaining shop items.
- Purchase every item in the nine-item table, reaching the 20-candy total.
- Speak to Pumpkaboo again to receive the Trick or Treat photo frame.
- Talk to Gourgeist at the Creepy Pumpkins habitat to register the friendship milestone.
Route B: Gourgeist-first
Choose this route if obtaining Gourgeist matters more than decorating immediately. Farm 6 candy, buy the Trevenant Streetlight, Pumpkin Lantern and Pumpkin Lantern Tower, and build Creepy Pumpkins first. Then farm the remaining candy for Pumpkaboo’s habitat and the other six shop items. This route protects the higher-priority three-piece unlock from accidental spending.
Route C: frame-first completion
The Trick or Treat frame is tied to the full shop purchase, not merely to building a habitat. Save enough candy to buy all nine listed items, then return to Pumpkaboo after the ninth transaction. Buying only the habitat components will not award the frame.
| Completion goal | Best priority | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fastest candy per minute | Dense habitat, furniture or toy disguise, one target at a time | These conditions produce more reliable speech-bubble reactions. |
| Gourgeist unlock | Buy the three Creepy Pumpkins pieces first | The complete Gourgeist habitat costs 6 candy. |
| All cosmetic rewards | Reach 20 candy and buy all nine items | The final Pumpkaboo conversation awards the frame. |
| Lowest deadline risk | Redeem candy as you reach each purchase goal | Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist remain in town afterward, but continued candy exchanges are not confirmed. |
Claim the frame and register Gourgeist
Trick or Treat photo frame
- Buy every item in the shop list, including the 1-candy Huge Table if you are completing the complete list.
- Close the shop conversation.
- Talk to Pumpkaboo again.
- Accept the event-exclusive Trick or Treat photo frame.
If the frame does not appear, verify that all nine purchases were completed. Building a habitat alone, or buying only the five pieces for both habitats, is not enough.
Gourgeist friendship milestone
After Gourgeist arrives at Creepy Pumpkins, talk to Gourgeist at its habitat. This conversation registers the friendship milestone separately from the shop and frame rewards.
What happens after the event window
Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist remain in town after the event closes. However, continued Pumpkin Candy exchanges are not confirmed, so do not leave unspent candy or an unclaimed frame until after the deadline. Complete the final Pumpkaboo conversation while the event is active, and make the last purchases before the local-clock cutoff.
Quick Recap
Troubleshooting checklist
Pumpkaboo does not spawn
- Check version 2.0.1, the completed important request, the rebuilt Pokémon Center and Camouflage from Zorua.
- Verify the console is within the local event window and has gone online once.
- Travel to another town and return to Withered Wasteland.
- Quit and restart if the character still does not load.
A Pokémon will not react to the disguise
- Use furniture or a toy instead of a tree, flower, bush or building block.
- Move into the Pokémon’s line of sight and wait for the speech bubble naming the object.
- Do not cancel Camouflage until that bubble appears.
- If the Pokémon is talking with another Pokémon, choose a different target.
- Rotate away and return later; the same Pokémon may need roughly eight minutes before it can be scared again.
The habitat is not recognized
- For Give Me Something Good to Eat, confirm that a table, Candy Bucket and Ghost Smoke Projector are all inside the same habitat.
- For Creepy Pumpkins, confirm that the Trevenant Streetlight, Pumpkin Lantern and Pumpkin Lantern Tower are present.
- Place the Pumpkin Lantern Tower on top of the Pumpkin Lantern, not beside it.
- Move objects slightly if the boundary is unclear, then check the habitat name again.
The frame is missing after shopping
- Count the purchases against all nine entries, not just the habitat pieces.
- Make sure the total shop spending reaches 20 Pumpkin Candy.
- Speak to Pumpkaboo again after the last purchase; the frame is delivered through that follow-up conversation.
Final completion checklist
- Version 2.0.1 installed and console clock correct.
- Important request complete, Pokémon Center rebuilt and Camouflage learned from Zorua at Bleak Beach.
- Pumpkaboo contacted at the Withered Wasteland Pokémon Center.
- Dense-habitat Camouflage loop used with a furniture or toy disguise.
- Speech bubble appeared before each transformation was canceled.
- Give Me Something Good to Eat (#008) built with a table, Candy Bucket and Ghost Smoke Projector.
- Creepy Pumpkins (#009) built with the Streetlight, Lantern and correctly stacked Lantern Tower.
- All nine shop items purchased for 20 Pumpkin Candy.
- Pumpkaboo spoken to again for the Trick or Treat frame.
- Gourgeist spoken to at its habitat for the friendship milestone.
- All candy exchanges and claims completed before the local event cutoff.
