To finish Haunted by Daylight, select an active event challenge, perform its Survivor or Killer objective during the Trial, collect and deposit event energy when that edition uses it, and finish the match so progress is recorded. The exact currency, thresholds, portals, quests and cosmetics change every Halloween. The 2025 event ran from October 14 through November 4; exact 2026 rules and rewards are not verified here, so treat the figures below as edition-labeled examples rather than universal requirements.
What Haunted by Daylight objectives involve
Haunted by Daylight is Dead by Daylight’s limited-time Halloween event. Its normal Trial rules remain the foundation, but selected generators, hooks, objects, currencies and challenges receive an event treatment. You do not complete the event by buying an external item or by playing a separate game mode alone. Progress comes from the active Event Tome challenge or event quest, the actions it names, and completing the Trial.
Every Halloween edition can rebuild the loop. One year may ask you to carry Void Energy to an Unstable Rift; another may emphasize quests, daily rewards or a different interaction. A number from an older guide is therefore not a standing rule. Before your first match, open the currently active Haunted by Daylight content and read the objective text shown for your chosen role.
Before entering a Trial
- Open the active Haunted by Daylight Event Tome or quest list. Select the challenge you intend to complete. Selecting it first matters because the game tracks the currently active objective rather than every possible event task at once.
- Confirm the role-specific action. Survivor and Killer objectives are different. Read whether the task requires a generator, hook, stun, down, Pumpkin interaction or event-energy action.
- Check the reward and currency. The panel may show Dark Trinkets, Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards, a cosmetic, or progress toward a quest chain. The displayed reward is the authoritative value for that edition.
- Plan to finish the match. Historical Haunted by Daylight instructions required players to complete the Trial for event progress or a cosmetic deposit to register. Leaving early can waste actions that otherwise met the requirement.
- Read the event notice for special objects. If the edition uses Void Energy, look for Void Orbs, Unstable Rifts, Void Realm access or another named interaction. If those objects are not present, do not assume that an older Void-energy route still applies.
Survivor objectives
Official Haunted by Daylight guides from the 2022–2023 cycle identified three recurring Survivor action types. The exact count required and the reward attached to each action depended on the active challenge.

Repair Halloween Generators
Some Survivor challenges count repairs on event-marked generators. The objective is not simply to enter a match: you must perform the repair action on the Halloween generator identified by the event. Check the challenge wording for whether it asks for a number of generators, a quantity of repair progress, or a completion condition. Work on the marked generator long enough for the game to register progress, then complete the Trial.
Stun a Killer carrying Void Energy
In editions that use Void Energy, a Survivor objective can require stunning the Killer while that Killer is carrying the event resource. The stun must occur during the carrying state described by the challenge; a routine stun against a Killer who is not carrying the required energy may not count. Coordinate the action with a pallet or another available stun opportunity, but do not abandon the rest of the Trial merely to force a risky play.
Destroy Pumpkins
Pumpkin destruction is another documented Survivor objective. Interact with the event Pumpkin and complete the destruction action shown by the game. Because Pumpkin placement and required totals can change, use the counter in the active challenge rather than assuming that one match has a fixed number of required Pumpkins.

Survivor execution pattern
- Keep the challenge selected while you queue.
- Perform the named action only on the event object or state described in the challenge.
- If Void Energy is available, collect it without carrying more than the edition’s displayed limit.
- Deposit energy at the named event destination when the objective calls for it.
- Escape or otherwise complete the Trial so the result screen can award progress.
Killer objectives
Killer challenges use the same event theme but replace Survivor interactions with hook, down and destruction actions.
Hook Survivors on Halloween Hooks
An event challenge may count hooks on Halloween Hooks rather than ordinary hooks. Confirm that the hook has the event marking before committing to a route. The challenge counter, not the visual appearance alone, determines whether the action registered.

Down a Survivor carrying Void Energy
When Void Energy is active, a Killer task can require downing a Survivor who is carrying it. The down must occur while the Survivor has the specified resource. Chasing a different Survivor or downing the target after the energy has been deposited may not satisfy the condition, so watch for the event indicator during the chase.
Destroy Pumpkins
Killer Pumpkins use the same event object family as the Survivor objective. Complete the destruction interaction and verify that the challenge counter advances. If the counter does not move, check that you selected the correct challenge and that the object was an event Pumpkin rather than a normal Trial prop.
Killer execution pattern
- Select the hook, down or Pumpkin task before matchmaking.
- Prioritize the event condition only when it does not compromise the Trial’s normal objectives.
- Track whether the Survivor still carries the required Void Energy before attempting the down.
- Use the end-of-Trial screen to confirm progress and reward delivery.
How Void Energy works when an edition includes it
Void Energy is an event resource, not a permanent Dead by Daylight currency. Its generation, carrying limit and deposit requirement are edition-specific. The 2022 official guide provides the clearest historical example: players could carry up to 15 Void Energy, take it to an Unstable Rift, and deposit 30 during one Trial. Completing that Trial then awarded one of 12 cosmetics. Those numbers describe the 2022 system only and are not confirmed requirements for 2026.
Collect the event energy
- Locate the event source identified in the current Trial, such as a Void Orb or another event-energy object.
- Interact until the game confirms that the energy has been collected.
- Watch the on-screen total and stop collecting when you reach the edition’s carrying limit.
- Continue playing normally while protecting the resource. A failed deposit or an unfinished Trial can prevent the reward condition from completing.
Deposit it at the event destination
The historical destination was an Unstable Rift. Carry the energy to the Rift, interact with it, and remain in the interaction until the game records the deposit. The 2022 requirement was 30 energy deposited in a single Trial, not 30 accumulated across multiple matches. Do not apply that one-Trial rule unless the active edition states it.
Finish the Trial
After meeting an energy threshold, complete the Trial. The 2022 cosmetic award was tied to depositing the required amount and then completing the match. A disconnect, surrender or other incomplete result can leave the deposit without its associated reward.

Void Realm and crafted-item variations
Some editions may open access to a Void Realm, add portals, or introduce crafted event items. These are separate mechanics from the basic act of collecting and depositing energy. Use the labels and instructions shown in the current event interface; a portal or crafted item documented for one year may not exist in the next.

Event Tome challenges
The Event Tome is the objective tracker for action-based tasks. Select a node, complete its Survivor or Killer condition, finish the Trial, and collect the reward shown on the node. In 2024, Event Tome challenges awarded Dark Trinkets that could be spent on Haunted by Daylight cosmetics.
Event quests
Later editions also used event quests, which can present a chain of tasks and a named character reward. The 2025 event quests included an Inferno Core outfit for Felix Richter and a Dia Das Bruxas outfit for The Skull Merchant. Quest rewards and their unlock order are edition-specific, so check the current quest panel rather than assuming that these 2025 outfits return.
Daily-login rewards
The 2025 Haunted by Daylight guide listed a complete login-calendar total of 100 Dark Trinkets, 1,000,000 Bloodpoints and 1,000 Iridescent Shards. Those totals applied to the 2025 event calendar and should not be treated as a standing annual allowance. If the current event shows a calendar, claim each day’s reward before its availability window ends.
DbD Day track
The 2024 Event Tome included a separate DbD Day track with eight challenges. Each cosmetic unlocked on that track also granted 25,000 Bloodpoints. This was a 2024 structure; it does not establish how many challenges or bonus Bloodpoints a later event will contain.

How to spend Dark Trinkets and claim cosmetics
When the event uses Dark Trinkets, complete the Event Tome challenges or login activities that award them, then open the Haunted by Daylight event collection. Select an available cosmetic and confirm the purchase with the displayed Trinket cost. The 2024 guide explicitly described Dark Trinkets as the currency for Haunted by Daylight cosmetics; a later edition may change prices, inventory or the way Trinkets are earned.
The 2025 event added three Skeleton Shirts for Dwight Fairfield, Vee Boonyasak and Zarina Kassir to the cosmetics that Dark Trinkets could unlock. Treat those as 2025 inventory, not a promise that the same items remain obtainable. Limited-time cosmetics can also be presented through the official Dead by Daylight store, while gameplay objectives themselves remain in-game actions.

Choose low-risk objectives first
Start with actions that naturally occur during a normal Trial, such as repairing an event generator, hooking on a marked hook, or destroying a Pumpkin encountered on your route. Reserve risky conditions, such as stunning a Killer who carries Void Energy, for a match in which the opportunity appears safely.
Combine objectives when the interface allows it
If a challenge requires a Pumpkin and another quest requires event energy, complete both during the same Trial when the objects are available. Keep only the currently selected task in mind, because an unselected node may not receive progress even when you perform a matching action.
Protect a completed energy deposit
Once you reach the displayed deposit threshold, stop taking unnecessary risks. The historical 2022 reward required both the energy deposit and a completed Trial, so surviving the remainder of the match was part of the effective objective.

Use the reward panel as your checklist
- Confirm the counter changes immediately after the action.
- Check whether the reward requires a single-Trial total or cumulative progress.
- After the match, verify the result screen before queueing again.
- Spend Dark Trinkets only after checking which cosmetics are currently available.
When progress or rewards do not appear
The action did not count
Re-read the selected challenge and compare its condition with what happened. A normal generator, hook, stun, down or Pumpkin may not satisfy an event-marked requirement. Void-energy tasks also depend on who was carrying the resource at the moment of the action.
The deposit did not award a cosmetic
Check whether the edition requires a threshold in one Trial and whether the Trial was completed. The 2022 example used both conditions. If the current interface gives a different threshold or destination, follow that text instead of the historical 30-energy rule.
The reward list looks different
Haunted by Daylight is rebuilt each Halloween. A 2025 quest outfit, a 2024 DbD Day track, or the 2022 12-cosmetic pool may be absent by design. Compare the reward inventory and event dates shown in the current client, not an older screenshot.

You missed a login day
Open the event calendar and inspect the claim state. The 2025 total was the sum of that edition’s calendar; missing or altered availability rules in another edition can change the final amount.
What is confirmed for the 2025 edition
Haunted by Daylight 2025 ran from October 14 to November 4. Its official event guide described Void Realm access, event quests, daily rewards and limited-time cosmetics. It also documented the full login-calendar total of 100 Dark Trinkets, 1,000,000 Bloodpoints and 1,000 Iridescent Shards, plus the Inferno Core Felix Richter and Dia Das Bruxas The Skull Merchant quest outfits and three Skeleton Shirts for Dwight Fairfield, Vee Boonyasak and Zarina Kassir.

For a 2026 event, verify the start and end dates, objective wording, currency totals, deposit threshold, quest rewards and cosmetic inventory in the live event panel. No 2026 figure should be inferred from the 2025 calendar or the 2022 Void-energy system.
