Compare screenshot APIs against the same monthly workload—not just the advertised price per render. A useful estimate includes billable successful renders, cache hits and misses, overage charges, request-rate limits, and the capture options your pages actually need. The vendor prices and plan limits below were checked on October 3, 2026; they can change.
Start with your workload, not the headline quota
A plan’s advertised quota is not necessarily the number of requests you can make, nor does every request necessarily use a paid render. Estimate what you will send in a normal month, then apply each vendor’s rules for successful renders, cache behavior, failures, and overages.
- Estimate monthly requests. Count scheduled captures, user-triggered captures, retries, and expected growth separately if they vary substantially.
- Estimate cache hits and misses. A repeated URL may be served from cache, but cache lifetime and cache-miss rules determine whether it needs another render.
- Estimate failed requests. Identify likely navigation failures, timeouts, and blocked pages. Verify whether the vendor charges for them.
- Write down the capture requirements. Include viewport, full-page capture, interactions or wait conditions, output format, and any special handling.
- Check peak throughput. A monthly quota can fit while a request-per-minute limit prevents a batch from finishing on time.
- Calculate the monthly bill. Apply subscription, included quota, overage price, and any complexity-based credit use to the same expected workload.
Do not treat a cost-per-render calculation as a quality ranking. The reviewed vendor materials describe prices and plan rules, not an independent comparison of rendering quality, speed, or uptime.
Compare what counts as a billable render
Ask each vendor what happens to successful renders, failures, and cached responses. ScreenshotOne’s pricing FAQ says: “Only screenshots that are successfully rendered (without HTTP, browser, or network errors) and not served from cache count toward your quota.” That is the vendor’s stated rule, not an independent guarantee of how every workload will behave. ScreenshotOne also notes that cache misses can trigger a new render.

Urlbox says failed requests do not count and cache-served requests generally do not count against quota. “Generally” matters: confirm the specific conditions for your intended cache setup and plan before forecasting usage.
Review cache lifetime as well as billing treatment. A short lifetime can turn repeated visits into misses and fresh renders; a longer lifetime can reduce repeat rendering if stale images are acceptable. ScreenshotOne documents default and configurable cache lifetimes separately from its pricing rules: ScreenshotOne caching documentation.

| Provider and plan | Monthly price | Included monthly renders | Listed extra-render price | Requests per minute |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotOne Basic | $17 | 2,000 screenshots | $0.009 | 40 |
| ScreenshotOne Growth | $79 | 10,000 screenshots | $0.006 | 80 |
| ScreenshotOne Scale | $259 | 50,000 screenshots | $0.004 | 150 |
| Urlbox Lo-Fi | $19 | 2,000 renders | Not stated on the reviewed pricing page | 30 |
| Urlbox Hi-Fi | $49 | 5,000 renders | Not stated on the reviewed pricing page | 60 |
| Urlbox Ultra | $99 | 15,000 renders | Not stated on the reviewed pricing page | 250 |
Sources: ScreenshotOne pricing and Urlbox pricing. The listed extra-render amounts apply to ScreenshotOne’s Basic, Growth, and Scale plans respectively. Do not infer an Urlbox overage rate from its subscription prices.
Worked comparison: price a shared workload
Suppose a service sends 12,000 capture requests in a month. Assume 2,000 are served from cache, 300 fail, and the remaining 9,700 are successful, non-cached renders. Assume the required capture mode is available on all plans being compared, the failures are treated as non-billable under the vendors’ stated rules, and requests can be spread across the month without exceeding rate limits.
Under those assumptions, ScreenshotOne’s listed included quotas cover 9,700 billable renders on Growth (10,000 included) and Scale (50,000 included). Growth costs $79 for the month; Scale costs $259. Basic includes 2,000 and lists $0.009 per extra render, so 7,700 over-quota renders would add $69.30, for an estimated total of $86.30. This arithmetic applies the published extra-render rate to the assumed overage; confirm how overages are invoiced with the provider.

For Urlbox, 9,700 renders exceed the listed Lo-Fi and Hi-Fi quotas and fit within Ultra’s 15,000-render quota. The reviewed pricing page does not state an extra-render rate for Lo-Fi or Hi-Fi, so their total cost at this workload cannot be calculated from those listed figures alone. Ultra’s listed subscription is $99. Treat that as a plan-price comparison, not proof that Ultra produces equivalent output for your use case.
This example isolates monthly usage. If all 12,000 requests arrive in one minute, plan throughput changes the decision: ScreenshotOne lists 40, 80, and 150 requests per minute for Basic, Growth, and Scale; Urlbox lists 30, 60, and 250 for Lo-Fi, Hi-Fi, and Ultra. A client may need to queue or pace requests, and the resulting completion time may matter more than the quota.

- Page coverage and dimensions: viewport size, full-page or scrolling capture, and controls for waiting or interacting with the page.
- Output: PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF, and whether the product returns rendered pixels or other representations such as HTML or Markdown. ScreenshotOne’s options documentation lists PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, TIFF, AVIF, HEIF, and PDF formats; verify which are available for the endpoint and plan you will use.
- Rendering behavior: delay, selector or interaction controls, geographic selection, stealth or anti-blocking handling, and GPU rendering, when relevant.
- Delivery and workflow: storage, integrations, webhooks, and cache controls.
- Complexity rules: unusually long, media-heavy, protected, or otherwise complex pages may need a higher tier or consume additional credits. Urlbox describes Lo-Fi for thumbnails and basic capture, Hi-Fi for more accurate rendering, and Ultra for complex capture scenarios; it also says advanced scenarios can consume more credits.
ScreenshotOne’s request parameters and output formats are described in its screenshot options documentation. Its pricing page notes that some capabilities are limited to higher plans. Feature names alone do not establish equivalent behavior between providers, so validate a representative page and the plan’s documented limits before committing.
Put ScreenshotNeo on the same pricing worksheet
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. Its plans include 1,000 shots per month free with no card, then paid options at $5 for 3,000, $15 for 15,000, $39 for 60,000, $99 for 250,000, and $249 for 1,000,000; yearly billing gives two months free. Every feature is on every plan. Compare these quotas against your own billable workload and required options rather than treating raw quota as proof of equal output or performance.
DIY method: make the comparison reproducible
- Build a representative URL set. Include pages with different lengths, image loads, consent banners, interactions, and access requirements. Do not estimate from a single easy page if production pages vary.
- Specify one output contract. Fix viewport, full-page behavior, format, wait condition, and any geographic or authentication requirements. Record differences where providers cannot match the same setup.
- Run the same workload shape. Separate first-time misses from repeated requests, and send a realistic batch rate rather than only testing one request at a time.
- Record billing evidence. Track request outcomes, cache status, response headers or usage dashboards, and the provider’s definition of a counted render.
- Calculate plan cost and throughput separately. A plan can be inexpensive per included render but too slow for a burst, or its required feature may only be available at a higher tier.
- Recheck pricing before purchase. The plan figures in this article were observed on October 3, 2026 and are not guaranteed to remain available.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one GET request. Cookie banners are accepted and removed before capture, along with 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and whether the shot was billed. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 shots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
Example cURL request:

Common pricing-comparison mistakes
- Dividing monthly fee by quota and stopping there: include overages and use the vendor’s billable-render definition.
- Assuming all failures or cache hits are treated alike: compare each vendor’s stated rules and test your workload.
- Ignoring request rate: calculate peak requests per minute and decide whether queuing is acceptable.
- Comparing plans with different capture fidelity or complexity: account for required options and credit multipliers before choosing on unit price.
- Assuming all output formats or features exist at every tier: confirm the precise plan and endpoint documentation.
- Treating vendor prices as an industry average: the figures here are examples from two providers’ public pages, not an industry-wide benchmark.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I use as the denominator for cost per screenshot?
